I've almost finished s3 and I think Matteo is actually meant to be more similar to Even, not Isak. His actions are similar to isak (gay test, living in a flatshare, his friends) but he has a girlfriend like Even, there are moments he seems very depressed, and Matteo is a lot more confident like Even.
