    I neglected to learn theory in my early teen years and I got to say your website is probably the best I've found on learning scales. The Slash section is just awesome! Thanks.

    Clear and simple! I am a beginner and I am glad that I watched this series. I think it’s the best series in RUclips for guitar beginners. Keep it up!

    Thank you for this incredible lesson on chord construction! The way you broke down the essential theory behind building chords on the guitar was both enlightening and practical. I've struggled with understanding how chords are formed, but your clear explanations and demonstrations have truly helped me grasp the concepts better. This knowledge has already made a significant difference in my playing, and I can't wait to explore further and incorporate these concepts into my music. Your dedication to providing such valuable content is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to more lessons from Theory Lab

    Very very awesome series. I've played the guitar for a few years, only learning songs straight of youtube. No theory. And, trying to find a good channel to finally deal with it. And wow, such a great channel this is and you as a teacher. Recommending to friends in similar position. And you deserve to have views in the hundreds of thousands. Thank you for this, and that it is for free.

    Your Theory lessons are awesome. All the other theory lessons I've tried just don't seem to stick. I have been playing guitar for 7 years off and on and can play alot songs, but have no idea about the structure of the chords or shapes im playing. Your way of teaching and explaining is very clear, better then my old guitar teacher who told me no one cares if you know music theory " just learn songs, it's all about the listener"

    Dan, Epiphany moment: I played open C7 chord and I reverse constructed the chord and the 7th note is Bb?!? Wouldn’t that make it a C dominant 7??? Check on Google and… it is! All the chords I know with 7 are dominant… A7, B7, C7, D7, E7, G7 (not ready for F7). No wonder Cmaj7 and C7 are different chords! Thanks for the theory and knowledge of constructing chords. Levelled up my playing and so jazzed!

    is it true that the lowest (in pitch) note is the root, in most cases, when forming a chord?

    • @yga
      @yga  6 лет назад +3

      Hey! It's not always true, as you can also get plenty of chord inversions. An inversion means that you use the same chord notes, but use one of the other notes (not the root) as the lowest note. However, as a beginner and intermediate guitarist, you will very often be dealing with the root as the lowest note, as you say! I hope that helps :)

    Really good series of lessons but how do I know which chord goes well with each other or which key has which chords in it?

    • @yga
      @yga  3 года назад +1

      Hey thanks, good question. Have a look at our Theory essentials to help with that, you can find it here: yourguitaracademy.com/courses/essential-theory/lessons/essentials-part-1 This will give you and insight to the chords you can find within a key. :)
