This is based on a true story of Tyler's car radio getting stolen, but he used this song to equate the physical car radio with his head as a "car radio". Without writing and performing music, Tyler has difficulty dealing with his thoughts. And a recurring theme in the Twenty One Pilots videos are cycles...after the concert, Tyler comes to in the empty concert hall and has his hair back while starting the same verse as the beginning. He's expressing that he put aside the dark thoughts during the concert, but now after the show and alone Tyler's hair is back and he's in the same mindset as at the beginning of the day. Goes to show that mental problems and depression do not disappear, they are always present.
Such a deep meaning to such a great song. I love it! Great breakdown, really shows the beauty behind a lot of the songs they make. Thanks for watching 😁🤘🏾
Oh, and 'Ode to Sleep' is a great introductory track to TOP. It shows their progress from one of the early performances of the 2-piece version of the band circa 2011, to their first time breaking through to mass appeal in 2014.
TOP hits on all levels. The music itself, and the lyrics, and the beats, and the visuals, they're all part of the story. Then there's us, the fans, the 3rd essential member of the band, according to Tyler and Josh. This one live is quite an experience. As Tyler moves to the tower to close the song, we all sing the Oh o o o o oh part in unison. Brings me to tears every time. Love this band! |-/ 💛
Ooh. I just noticed that you’ve done some NF. We fans of both Twenty One Pilots and NF are also fans of Ren. You should start with Hi Ren. Please do soon! It’s a great journey as well!! I’m sure you’ll find Ren super interesting!!
You did a great job with the lyrics, especially for a first listen. Yes, the lyrics are deep, as are most of their songs. This song is so powerful for me, because music has always been my go-to, my escape, in my car and out throughout my life. Tyler's scream lets you feel the pain of thinking too much and "sometimes quiet is violent." In this video, when the fans return Tyler back to the stage, is like they are putting the music (car radio) back to perform for us. I subscribed today hoping for more TOP. I'll always be back for it.
Thank you for choosing this song. twenty one pilots are a truly wonderful band and I'm glad you're getting to know their work. As the next track, I suggest Migraine.
great job interpreting this one, yeah their live shows have amazing energy. If you want to check out a live performance from them i'd recommend 'Holding On To You-live at Fox' the music video for 'Ode to Sleep' is a good intro to the band and their early progression and has some clips from early shows too.
Oh I’m so staying here for your TOP reactions. Love your appreciation of their music and song structure. I’m really excited for you to discover more of this band!
Man, I'd love to see you react to a live version of this at like one of the festivals. He has scaled many scaffolds during this song live and it never gets old.
I deliver. I spend a LOOOOOOVE time in my car. If my radio was gone, I simply would suddenly be sick. Nope. Couldn't do it. "I could pull the steering wheel"...? Probably would twitch some without my car radio.
So awesome to see you back on it.. car radio is one of my favorites in a live concert.. I agree with others, ode to sleep would be Great because it shows how they progress ❤
Hit up Trapdoor by twenty one pilots. Really old song by them. Same with Ode to Sleep as others have suggested. Also you aren't wrong. Literally his car radio was stolen and the depression hit hard from the bitter silence. "Sometimes quiet is violent."
You got it man. This dude speaks alot about his mental, and i love the picture he paints. Stealing his car radio doesnt just set him back 1 radio, it condemns him to be alone with his thoughts and anxietys whenever he commutes.
Good morning bud, new subscriber here. TØP is a blast of fun and their music is like no other. I love it because it actually has substance, meaning, and most of it deals with the struggle of everyday life for most of it. Anything from vessel album would be best place to start. Ode to Sleep, migraine, Guns for hands are all next level. Have a great day
Really great reaction. There are so many absolutely brilliant T0P tracks, like Chlorine, but I just want to mention "Fairly Local!" . It's not a brain tester. Just great beats. X
@@DRichOfficial I'll let everyone else tell you to listen to this one and listen to that one. All I want to say is whack your volume up and listen to T0P - Fairly Local. 😁
Not sure if this was commented yet, but this was filmed at an actual show ❤Tyler gave the crowd instructions on what to do when the beat drops and everything. If you watch the Vessel 10th year anniversary live stream, he explains it all there.
I'm sad to say that but honest to confirm we're a bunch of clikkies STILL ALIVE here, thanks to TOP! That song is something else and saved me 11 years ago and i will never be thankful enough to them for that! ❤🎉
One of my all-time favorite songs ever. You can listen to all their top played songs (Heathens, Stressed Out, Ride, Heavydirtysoul, Chlorine, Migraine, etc.) on their own or take a huge dive and listen to them in order since they have a bunch of story arcs that get a bit complicated. Their tracks are great regardless. More TØP & more Ren. Subbing to watch your journeys!
I've had a radio stolen, and literally been sitting on a long drive at night on an empty road, alone with my thoughts, just getting more and more depressed and desperate. This song nails that feeling so well. "...I could pull the steering wheel" I read as "I could just jerk the wheel, crash, kill myself.
You got the idea of the song - its an extremely well written song Migraine and Ode to Sleep would be good ones to do Also i see the hat - theyre from Columbus if you're from Ohio
Epic timing on the pauses every one of those was timed to ruin the message to the point where he kind of didn't get it. Now I understand why people rewind 10 seconds every time they pause. Well most people. I do like your reactions though

"to think is to be alive"
"you need to try to think"
Mannequin challenge years before it was a thing!!! Tyler's creativity is unmatched!
You're not wrong. That's an accurate break down.
Tylers lyrics about the night , the terror that sometimes comes with that made me feel heard and seen.
🔥 It always feels kinda weird to blast THAT song on your car radio.
"let the music talk" is why i'm happy i subscribed
Oh, and 'Ode to Sleep' is a great introductory track to TOP. It shows their progress from one of the early performances of the 2-piece version of the band circa 2011, to their first time breaking through to mass appeal in 2014.
You know I’m gonna try to get to as many songs as possible lol. I know I’m missing out on alot

They were still because this was an actual concert and he told them to be still. Yep. Thousands
I’ve pretty much been going through your whole playlist for hours tonight 😂 This is the song in 2014 that lit my soul on fire (to borrow from Ode)
Next should be heavydirtysoul or ode to sleep
I got a long list lol. I’ll try to keep up 🤘🏾
Subbed for this journey into TØP
Ooh. I just noticed that you’ve done some NF. We fans of both Twenty One Pilots and NF are also fans of Ren. You should start with Hi Ren. Please do soon! It’s a great journey as well!! I’m sure you’ll find Ren super interesting!!
Yes I have some more NF I want to do. And I will definitely have to check out Ren😁

You’re so right! His car radio was stolen and he was alone with his thoughts
Thanks for doing this my all time favorite song. If you think they let the music sit in this video watch a live version 😊

Your interpretation of this song is spot on...
