After 10 + years and 3 Harley-Davidsons, I recently decided it was time to downsize. So I traded my Softail Street Bob in for a new Vespa GPS 300 HPE. Over the years I have owned numerous scooters and bikes. But must say this GPS 300 is superb. Must say the Royal Alloy 300 seems on a par with the Vespa. Yes I will miss the Harley's and my Harley mates, but time marches on. Now It's the Vespa road for me.
I'm still baffled as to why Lambretta just didn't do this themselves. Piaggio made the same mistake when they discontinued the PX instead of launching a modern 4 stroke auto version, and LML sold a load of EURO4 autos. They RA are a very nice scooter by all accounts and I will surely own one soon.
Lovely machine, it’s nice to hear guys that normally ride a big bike praising a scooter, very practical machines especially a larger engine one like this.
am currently starting a mid life crisis!!!! I love these Royal Alloys, intend i think to get a 125 then do test, the 300 looks a dream!!! Great review thanks
Fuck labelling it a mid life crisis dude........you fancy one- do it. I've drifted between scooters n bike all my life 34 full bike license) n I'm definitely attracted to these Alloys.
Like the video , very informative , As I own a GT royal Alloy 125 , 1964 Lambretta Li & a Honda Shadow cruiser , I must say the alloy is very comfy & easy to ride it does lack storage But well built nicely priced , I'm impressed with the 125 I'm Trading it in for the GP 300
Enjoyed your video, after 10+ years and 3 Harley-Davidsons, finishing with the Softail Street Bob. I decided to wind down and go back to a scooter. Am awaiting delivery of a new Vespa GT 300 SUPER SPORT in blue. Must say if I'd seen your video beforehand I may have looked a getting the Royal Alloy 300.
I don’t ride a scooter but a good friend of mine traded his Royal Alloy 125. Scooter for the GP200. A few months later he had trouble with the motor and took it back. They told him he needed a new crankshaft ! Yes a 2019 scooter needed a new crankshaft. He paid for the parts and they supplied the labour. After the job it struggling to climb hills. The dealer is no longer interested. From my perspective, it’s a pile of crap
A typical dealers test and comments, they are not all quite as you say, even now a 2023 my tg300 arrived with rust on the frame from new and the airbox rubbing on the inside of the side panel. It went back to the dealers and took 6 weeks to rectify. Parts are still very patchy in supply even today.
@@RevBombUK Thanks for the honest reply. Leaning in that direction as well … lack of storage on the RA neccessitates a top box w/c kinda ruins the look esp used for weekend trips.
Currently riding a Vespa px125 but after getting my full bike license, I’m seriously thinking about chopping in the Vespa for a RA GP300 ,maybe not till next year though ( it’ll be a nice 60th birthday present!
I like the look of these scooters but after doing a lot of research on them lots of people are telling of many problems even on relatively new scooters ie rust on the front forks, seized bearings on the steering rack because of lousy grease used for lubrication, all of this has put me off buying one and although the price point on the r.a is ok,I'd rather pay the extra money if I'm buying a new scooter and go for a vespa.
There a good scooter and great if maintained but the parts back up from motogb is awful and yes huge issues with steering bearings, speedo issues and suspension prolems Their solution when customers started complaining was to not take Incoming calls
@@RevBombUK RA 2019 Vespa motor exact design built in Southeast Asia? Sad that parts are a problem, Vespa engine and consumable parts not interchangeable?

@clangerbasher apples oranges, or I might say quite the opposite. Having owned vintage VespaP200 and Lambretta Jet200 and now riding a slightly dated Hooligan KTM duke 640 without ABS.

Just bought one, it'll go well sat next to my Triumph Daytona 955i. I've always had a thing for sports bikes and classic looking scooters.
Enjoy
makes me want to rush out and get one being an old 71 year old mod love it cheers
The new versions are amazing in 300cc

Agree there
We just recently got RA300's into dealers in the mid-west (I'm from Wisconsin and the nearest dealers for these or Vespas are in Minnesota).
wow, good to see the product getting out worldwide
Taking delivery of a GP on Wednesday .. can’t wait ...

That's why we no longer stock them terrible back up from motogb
Lets say for consideration are usability, repairability, ride comfort. RA GP300S or vespa GTS 300HPE?
Vespa I rate slightly better

Can I ask how does the RA 300 compare to the new Lambretta 350 ?
RA 300 is ok when you can get the parts, personally get the lambretta
@@RevBombUK is there plenty of accessories for the Lammby ? Fromt crash bars etc mirrors , back rest all that thanks ?

if you are going to choose lambreta 125, royal alloy tg 180 or vespa primavera 150cc? thanks for anwering
Depends on the price and the build quality of each model, there is no royal alloy tg 180 in the uk but i prefer the royal alloy range

Do you feel less safe on a traditional scooter than bike because you are not perched on something as it were?
Its the smaller tyres that make it a little more precarious, but i do enjoy taking a scooter out now and again

Hard to get in the uk at the moment as well
The best part about scooters is the under seat storage. This has zero. :(
👍
Looking forward to the TG300s review.
Cant wait to see hot the tg rides
Nice review, but...I think that it would be more useful if there were some "subs" for all of us that english is not our native language!
Will see what I can do
i need one in my life.
👍
Please bring this to India

do not have those GP300 here, I am sold already bro

Just say “no under seat storage” !
None of the royal alloy range have under seat storage
Neither do scomadi. Vespa or lambretta
