    "There is something Nostalgic-esque to it". Brilliant review, informative and packed with nice photographs that underline all the nice vocal parts of the review. Loved every bit of it. Thank you!
    Q1. Is the manual focus ring "all time manual focus" regardless of camera power On/Off, like Canon L lenses? Or does it only manual focus if the camera is ON and in M mode?
    Q2. How fast does this 55mm catch focus compared to other fuji X/G primes?

    Great video. Very entertaining. I love the gfx 100 ii with this lens. It’s a tad noisy at times but it doesn’t bother me. The quality of the images are superb. I think it’s well worth the money ❤ love the focal length and bokeh too. Loved your photos too !
    The bokeh on this at 1.7 translates to around 1.2 f on my canon full frame.

    Beautiful work! you discussed "something magical" about this camera lens combination around 10min - 12min. As I use same gears, I have learnt the magic of this lens is proportions. This is THE normal focal length for 33x44mm sensor. It also means that everything is in exact proportion as we would see through naked eye. foreground-subject-background separation is exactly in the proportions how we see in reality. 55mm on GFX has no perspective distortion. Photographs look magical, because it mimics how we experienced it. My two bits. 🙏

    The images are something else, the whole is certainly greater than the sum of the parts. There's a dreamy vibe to the shots, you're right, it elevates the mundane into something special. I wonder if you can replicate this with the crop sensor set up, but then you'd miss out on the immense resolution. Thanks for the video.

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  4 месяца назад

      Thank you so much! I am glad you noticed the elevation, it definitely does, I can’t express what it does but it just changes (as you say) the mundane to something magical. I just loved the finish. It’s a good question, I have shot with my crop sensor for nearly 5 years now and it does have the same beautiful magic - i still adore my equipment. But the depth of field is definitely more pronounced on the GF series. So it is different but I guess that is the beauty of the different series 🙂 thank you for watching 🙂

  • @roxikoko3744

    Love your vids! This is my main lens at weddings. It's glued to the GFX 100Sii. 80% of images are taken with this lens and the rest are taken at the wide and tele end with the XH2 & XT3. Focus is spot on. (Tracking focus is brilliant on the 100Sii but sucks on the original 100S) The ability to crop 100mpx sensor without noticeable loss of quality means you have 3 lenses in one. 44mm FF equiv, 55mm when cropped in to FF sensor size & approx 70mm-80mm in APSC equiv. To really see the magic this lens produces though you shouldn't crop and be sure to frame right in camera so you don't need to crop.

    I have this with the 80 1.7 and 20-35F4. I feel like I initially took a gamble getting into GFX with the 100S, but I can't stop shooting this system as long as the shots facilitate it (slow AF). Easily my most used system now, glad you're enjoying the system.

    Very nice and authentic review. I have not yet tried the 55 but I have used a lot of the older Gf lenses. Excellent glass, especially the 45 and 110mm 😅 For video, you may like to look into the 100ii - I rented it a while ago and it is bigger than the 100Sii you are testing but it has a lot more going for it in video. Keep up the lovely work! 🙃🤞

      Thank you very much! The older GF lenses are still beautiful and great though 🙂 yes someone else said this to me too and I will have to borrow it from Fuji and see how it performs - although it is 120p in FHD so i am curious to see how it matches up to the 4k on my XH2s. Although you say it is bigger than the 100Sii? But how! That camera is still big 😩😅✌🏻 i will give it a try though and thank you for your lovely words ☺️✌🏻

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  4 месяца назад +1

      I have had a few people ask this and i’m not too sure. Someone said the GFX 100 II can due filming at 120p in FHD which is great but I love my 120p filming in 4K on the XH2s. The GFX series is noticeably slower than the x system but actually it didn’t make a huge difference to what I was doing. I think filming and nippy photography I would keep my x system but I think for that extra depth in my photography i would shoot the GFX series. I would like to test the other GFX camera bodies as this might change my decision and I am also going to shoot some more wildlife stuff with the gear soon (I’ve borrowed it again) so I can test it some more. It is a hard decision because I love the x-system, so many one for filming and the other for photography 🙂

  • @bcrphoto7
    @bcrphoto7 4 месяца назад +1

    I have been waiting for your review, thanks for that. Beautiful images you got with the GFX. It looks like an amazing camera with crazy good clarity. Just the look on your face should sell a few of them! I like your humble opinion, I'm with you on the system we use, which is the X-H2S. but I think for me, I will stay with my X-H2S with my 200 mm F2 and my 150- 600 mm. If I was doing more landscape and portraits, I would love the GFX system. But the GFX won't do the 120fps, slo-mo, and I use that a lot, also in photo mode I think is 7 fps, much slower than the X-H2S. I still like the crop sensor that gives me much more reach as I need that as a Wildlife Photographer. But we always dream of better cameras and the GFX is better in some regards, but my system is better for me. I get spoiled with the 200mm f2, can't beat the sharpness out of that lens, and the background blur is so nice. I have a Viltrox 75mm f1.2 and wow, great results like the 200f2. Creamy backgrounds, gotta love that. I never used to be a third-party lens guy, but after watching all the reviews, I had to give it a try as you know there is not a lot of lenses for the FUJI system, you should give it a look. Will be watching for your Wildlife review on the GFX system.

      Thank you for your comment and kind words it is much appreciated! And thank you for all the points you have spoken about, a lot of these I am actually going to cover in the GFX100s II review. I don’t actually dream of a better set up, it was just good fun to test out and use this equipment and give a user experience of anyone looking at swapping but i’m pretty happy with my set up, I love my XH2s and i’ve really missed shooting with it, especially the filming side of things. So I won’t be selling my gear to swap (also can’t afford it either) but I am very happy to have got the chance to use the GFX system and capture some lovely moments with it. Keep enjoying your gear and having fun, that’a the main thing! Especially with the 200mm lens - which I love! 🙂

    There is an adaptor from gfx to Fujifilm X mount,so you could try your idea of slow motion with the lense. Albeit not with gfx camera pixel outcome.

    The Fuji GFX 100SII are a really good Camera to a fair price compared to the GFX 100 II, but it is a bit big and heavy Camera and it is even worse with most of the Fuji GF Lenses, the price with at least 3 Lenses will set you a lot back, Hasselblad have more compact and light weight Lenses, though they have shutter built into the Lens ! So I am very happy to have smaller and more compact Cameras, Sony A7RIVA and Sony A7RV which not quite have the same image quality, but good enough for me as a hobby photographer. I used to be a professional Photographer, if I still were pro, then I would have bought the Fuji GFX system. But for me now as a hobby Photographer the Sony system are the best, I guess the Sony system will be the best for most hobby photographers and for many professional Photographers too.

      I pay for all of my equipment, I can show you the receipts if you like? I can’t afford the GFX equipment so that’s why I am very open and honest about it. If I could afford it, I would buy it but this isn’t my job. I work full time and do all this on the side paying for it all myself. So Fujifilm kindly let me borrow the equipment for a few weeks which actually is great because it opens up photography to everyone and it not just being for the elite. So maybe change your perspective on this 🙂✌🏻

    The term medium format in the digital world is of course small compared with real medium format relating to 120 film. Plus the fuji medium format isnt as big as some Phase One and Hasselblad cameras. Ive used Hasselblad MF and agree that details and finesse are visually astounding but for web and social media the difference to FF or APSC is never going to show. For prints the bigger the sensor then the bigger the print can be. Review ? More of an advert.

      @wildandfreevictoria  4 месяца назад +1

      Yup. It is a review but thanks for saying it is an advert, i’ll take that as a compliment as I am a hobbyist who does this for fun. So thanks!
      And yes, totally, that’s why I said if you are a professional this would be a good bit of gear. Not everyone posts on social. My own gear is the APSC sensor stuff and I love it. So yeah, not sure of the point of your comment but thanks for the compliment 🙂✌🏻

      Reminds me of little Britain sketch ‘computer says no’

      @@wildandfreevictoria The point of my post was to highlight that it wasnt a review. Have a look at reviews on DPReview. So much you left out. Making recommendations to professionals based on what youve done isnt a cogent argument. Yes its an awesome camera but you need more detail to call it a review.

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  4 месяца назад +3

      Well that is very subjective and just your opinion. No I haven’t looked at other people’s reviews as I am not copying someone else’s studio testing or thoughts, I actually go out in the field and test the equipment in scenarios it will actually be used in and come up with my own decision based on my own experience and not someone else’s - hence why I said a user experience. If you don’t like this method of review that is ok, but it is how I review items by actually using them for their intended purpose. There is a very big difference between a technical review and a user review. You may disagree with this method but many people would disagree with you and have actually found my reviews very useful and find this type of review more useful than a hyped technical review - check my comments which will back this up.
