Lol at people saying Dawn should be a bit more 'commercial'. She's on her own independent label. She's not worried about trying to make it big on her own. If people listened to 'Goldenheart' and her 'Armor On' EP you would realise that this song is so her. She can't just compromise her artistic vision to deliver something Danity Kane would sing or whatever. I was never a fan of Danity Kane because I was always wise to puffy and his ways... but this woman is highly talented and should have reached Rihanna levels of stardom.

I don't understand why people are confused. Dawn Angelique Richard ain't some ordinary "manufactured package". It's levels to this shit. If you watched Dawn's interviews from the moment she left Dirty Money to now, you'd see the correlations in EVERYTHING she does. Fashion, Dance, Lyrics & Music. She's a visionary. It's all tied and it all tells a story. The battle starts with preparation (Armor On). Then continues with the first step (Goldenheart). Then you realize you lose sometimes. Things get ugly. Blood is spilled. That's where Blackheart comes in (Drops 1/15/15 *wink*). Redemption Heart, the last of the trilogy, resembles victory.

This is her testament of strength and perseverance. Fresh off the heels of Danity Kane's final album release, and with the group's second disbandment still glistening on the fanbase's collective memory, Dawn Richard was painted to be the sole aggressor and developed a target on her back overnight as one of the most villainous singers within contemporary history. I don't remember people being this angry at an artist since Beyoncé circa "Say My Name" 2000. Twitter thugs and Instagram instigators bombarded her social media spewing hateful insults and blaming her as the reason of Danity Kane breaking up. Dawn quickly retreated into the black, only resurfacing with a a few statements depicting her account of the assault to appease the fan's immediate curiosity. Now, the self-titled "Queen of Hearts" has re-emerged not wasting ANY time to push forth her new project, with a new Hip-Hop flavored joint singularly titled "Blow" (which ala separate from the many sexual references Beyoncé has used in the song of the same name). Though the video has the same visual Native American allusions as her "Bombs Away" video, the choreography and fashion is tweaked differently. "Armor On" Dawn Richard was prepping for a battle she was unsure of, she had heart and she was just getting her feet wet. "Blackheart/Blow" Dawn Richard is assertive in her sexuality and stage capabilities. There's definitely growth there. And while many may throw stones at her, you can't deny her musical essence. She is here, fighting for what's in her heart, whether you like it or not.

Let's make things clear for everyone.
Dawn has been in two different groups before being solo. She made two different types of music and now she's making the third and her OWN type of music. After 6 years being part of those groups she decided to do her own, not caring about charts, labels or what it meant to be done.
She has been working since 2011 until now for all her fanbase called "Hearts", releasing 1 mixtape, 2 flawless EPs and her debut album that if you dare to listen, there is no doubt that is a f****** masterpiece (with critical acclaim).
I'm a huge fan of her, not because of what she has done in DK or DDM, because of the strength, passion, dedication and talent she radiates with her music.
In relation to the song Blow (first single), it reflects that she is getting better and her music has now limits. I'm in love with this song and with her.

Why are so many people so critical of Dawn's music, videos, etc? Dawn is on her own musical path. Whether you enjoy her music, videos, marketing strategies, or not, Dawn is going to do her. If anyone understands Dawn, it's her fans. She is a remarkable singer, talented dancer, and a godsend. If you can't appreciate what God has blessed her with then that's on you. I see Dawn as the future. Yes, she might be underestimated by many; however, I don't underestimate any of her capabilities. Dawn is human just like the rest of us. Some of you are so quick to critic other people but not yourselves. I absolutely love this video and song. It has Dawn written all over it and that's what I love most about it. Clearly, she was the only one to truly stand out from DK not because of her unique talents but because she's a REAL person and many people, including myself respect that. No one will ever understand what her music means but her and if that's a problem for you, then why listen to it? At least give her credit for being and expressing herself!!! Dawn is a fighter and she will continue to fulfill her life's mission regardless if some people don't approve of her creativeness. She is a fighter and nothing is going to stand in her way. Whether you like it or not, DAWN WAS Danity Kane. (She actually Named the band if you didnt know) Shannon and Aubrey's Vocals and Dancing were Kelly(Shannon) and Michelle(Aubrey Lets, be real!) to Dawn's Beyonce. (Although Aubrey was a better dancer than shannon. Dawn's dominance is like a Modern Brandy with brillant choreography...but I like Dawn's flavor more... Dawn dominates all the DK records, I only realized that when I listened to both of them consecutively. I was VERY IMPRESSED with "ARMON ON" That record is MAGIC. It was totally Underated, from the Tracks to The Videos she put out for it. FLAWLESS. "Goldenheart and The Whiteout" EP confused me. The songs were alittle out there.... They were made from the same cloth... Not my cup of TEA.. When I heard Danity Kane were back together with a new album coming I was excited When Aundrea left.. Dawn, Shannon and Aubrey were AMAZING together. They fit like a glove. (Especially that choreography!) I enjoyed the DK3 album, The tracks are extremely catchy and fun but yet again Dawn's vocal dominates the tracks. Sometimes you cant even tell if Aubrey is singing or Shannon (Although Shannon is a stronger singer so that gives you hints) No shade, but SHADE. Despite the breakup and how Furious I was at Dawn for the assault on Aubrey. I started to remember "MAKING THE BAND" (Yes, I watched Every episode.) Aubrey was the PROBLEM child...(Thats a Direct quote from PUFF) I don't condone Violence and what Dawn did was 100% WRONG. But Aubrey has a mouth on her and the attitude of a Thousand arrogant Beyonce's....For so little vocal strength..Her persona does not match her Talent Hell, even Shannons voice is stronger, but people are in love with Aubrey's persona. Where she lacks in talent she makes up in Charisma.....I guess. As for Shannon BLESS HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll admit at first this song sounded off and different from her previous work but then I quickly realized as an artist everything changes and grows and won't sound the same. That's what it's -suppose- to do. That's what I love about Dawn. Since she came out her style, song selection, writing, choreography, has been left field and she's stuck true to her craft. That's what the music industry has been missing. No one sticks to who they are and have no identity for themselves but follow trends and what 'sells' and unfortunately their ''souls'' (i.e. their identity as an artist) for that dollar.

People LOVE to hate on Dawn. Yet tons of artists are evolving to the type of RnB and Electronic music she has been making for years on her own. She has worked VERY hard to create her own original sound, on an independent budget that is now being ripped off by large labels. Beyonce's latest album is very similar to the sound Dawn has created, (WHICH LET ME POINT OUT BEYONCE DEFINITELY CHANGED HER SOUND THIS TIME AROUND YOU CANNOT DENY THAT). The only difference is that Dawn is genuine and the artistry comes from within her. It has not been adapted from a producer or writers work. She comes up with all of her Visual Concepts, and even foots the bill for her work. Her new album features production done BY HER. It is humble, it is honest, and it is real. Which is ALOT more than I can say for other Danity Kane members. Or most artists on a major label for that matter. Even Dawn's Medieval mentality of Goldenheart with all of its glory and valor is being ripped off by the main stream now. Chris Brown and Ariana Grande's new video is a good example of this. Knights and giants are not cool when Dawn does it but slap a fresh faced "lolita" on a song with a known womanizer, put them in medieval times for the video, and call it a hit!
And anyone who has anything negative to say about this is #MISINFORMED or #OBLIVIOUS

I'm a new Dawn Richard fan! Came across her on KEXP 91.3FM Seattle and a program o KUOW 94.9FM Seattle when they talked and played "BUSSIFAME!" I'm officially consumed!
And no offense to the BeyHive, but Dawn Richard is way more accessible for those of us who LOVE ALL MUSIC, ART and forms of straight up REVOLUTION without the saturated branding and "scene."
Dawn embodies the WORKING WOMEN of COLOR! She's real and that's why she's not famous. Our White Patriarchal Society hates the REAL! Let Dawn keep the REAL as new fans like me keep discovering her amazing intelligence, choreography, talent, strength and beauty!

Very eccentric and eclectic in every scene. I wish this can be re-released. Gosh she deserves more shine and exposure. One of my favorite songs by her. Does not sound like anyone else. That guy dancing in the first scene favors tyga.

This shit go hard! Man if yall know Dawn, yall know this song is so her!.. That beat is sick, she's an INCREDIBLE writer and her vision for her songs are Amazing! Her vocals are dope af! She don't give a fuck about "fitting in" or being "commercial" or making music to appeal to what the media considers "popping" right now! She's an individualist. She does, write, and sing what she feels! simple... u ain't rocking with her.. move the fuck around... Haaaannnnnn!
