    ⚠FOR WINDOWS HOME EDITIONS USERS: ⚠
    "Local Users and Groups" might only show up on Windows Pro editions. BUT if you have Home, instead go into command prompt and type the command "net user", which will also list all accounts, it just won't mark which accounts are disabled. So you'll have to remember to ignore the built-in ones I mention in the video (specifically: Administrator, DefaultAccount, Guest, WDAGUtilityAccount)

  • @Kilogya

    This is one of the many ways I handle tracing and uncovering malicious attacks. Most of the time you can only hide your tracks, but that doesn't mean they can't be uncovered. There are other interesting things you'll notice with back door accounts. I like to intentionally infect my servers and attack them every day. This allows me to get a more hands on and deeper understanding of the mechanisms and symptoms that malware or any attack type causes on a compromised device. I've even found vulnerabilities that lead back to my main network, which was scary at first, but I solved all the issues and patched it. Turns out 2FA's biggest vulnerability that I've noticed is if you have a secondary option that you lost access to and then someone gained access to by for example activating a number of an old phone can lead to false account recovery attempts, luckily I was able to solve it, but I had to experience the attack first hand to really bring into light the danger of 2FA gone unchecked.

      How’s someone reactivating an old number that’s been linked to an account tho?

    • @Kilogya
      @Kilogya Год назад

      @@BossModeGod it was a straight talk number, I'm not sure if it gets recycled. The furthest I could track was someone in China and I didn't feel as if it was important to continue searching. This happened a while ago, I lost the number after I dropped my service, forgot to remove it from 2FA and later on someone was attempting to recover and login to my account. I barely caught it while I was at work and got extremely lucky I was hasty enough to find and fix the vulnerability within my account after being notified of the attempt.

    I'm surprised you didn't mention the first thing you should did if you find sure an account, which is cut off the computer internet access, so no one can remotely log into that account. It may be too late by then, someone may have already been in your computer, but if the account was set up by a virus, trojan, etc. it may not have been accessed yet so cut of the internet access. At the very least it will prevent any more outside access until the issue is resolved.

    • @wildbill4496
      @wildbill4496 2 года назад +7

      @@mcdone3 Yeah, basically that's what you would need to do. In the system tray you should see an icon that indicates no internet access once you do it and if you try loading a web page you browser should indicate the same. I'm not as familiar with exactly how Bluetooth works, from a security perspective, but if you're on a laptop in a public place you might want to disable that as well or at least check to make sure there are no devices paired you don't recognize. Bluetooth has a very limited range, usually measures in 10s of feet, but if I mention it if you're being extra careful in a public place.

    FOR WINDOWS HOME EDITIONS USERS- you can choose accounts in the control panel.
    if you have search bar, at bottom of your screen, just search for control panel. If not press window key on keyboard and S to open control panel, or right click window in bottom left of screen to open start menu, click search, and then type control panel in search bar. Select Accounts when the control panel opens. Users are shown.

    Even as someone incredibly experienced never thought about looking there before.
    Also, oddly, I had issues with the old admin account which even resetting didn't help with. On that account only, which was only used via normal user prompt, everything was so incredibly slow for no reason whatsoever that I could find. So I created a second one called "TesT" to see if it would run correctly.
    Once I saw it was running fine, I deleted the old one and switched back to the normal user account. According to this, it seems the OS believes both the now renamed "TesT" and the old admin account name still exist though, despite one being deleted and the other renamed. Strange.

    Create monthly backups on an external drive and do a hard factory reset whenever you get a problem like this

    I would recommend checking your partitions with non-Windows media, especially on GPT disks, for extra partitions. On an unmodified UEFI installation of Windows there will be 4 partitions:
    - At least 100MB of ESP
    - 16MB MSR
    - Root partition in NTFS or ExFAT
    - At least 300MB of MS recovery
    Rootkits often make partitions on the disk to make their malware persistent through removal.

      Thank you. Because I'm so sick of hearing just restart or do a factory reset. Still have alot to learn but some weird sht has been happening on my end. Fresh computer I was going to get some music going on. All the sudden says "wireless keyboard " 🙄 like no it's a wireless mouse. Checked to make sure it was plugged and reading and sure enough. Wireless keyboard and mouse. And wired keyboard, which is what I had. So I deleted wireless keyboard, back within 20 mins. And so deleted again. That must have pissed em off. Because they made so many copies and copy user accounts with the name similar with a random numbers added, seemed they did that to confuse me so I couldn't hit administrator account ? Basically by the time I deleted one or 2 of these new accounts poping up. 5 more would be there. Etc etc. So would u say I got hit with root kit? I've been having remote access problems with every android I get and I can't get any answers , suggestions, explanations, other than nobody knows , and frankly nobody gives a shit. I'm in small town, can't really figure out the right way to wiggle this thing ......computer has been sitting unplugged , until I kjow what to do as soon as I turn it back on. By the way. badass handle. Intergalactic. I'm with ya. I should upload some of the ufo videos I have . If the remote accessors haven't deleted them , oh shit. Wait.🛸💡

    Likely, a hacker is not gonna waste there time with just your personal computer. What they aim for is corporate computers where they can receive payouts for leaking information or even installing ransomware. 99% of the time if you click on something malicious there won’t be a hacker readily in your computer. It would most likely be a script designed to take your credentials.
