  • First day was kind of a bust. I broke my tent, the one I just got a new rain fly for.... but the winds were absolutely crazy. Luckily the next day was pretty awesome!

    What a nice trip! Pity so much air on the first day, and that your tent broke. The one who invented the adhesive tape should be made a monument. I hope you will soon repit the experience of those marvellous landscapes. A sincere hug, Rob. Take care of yourself.

      Gracias Miguel! Yes, it's a pity the tent broke but it should be an easy fix if I can get the part. I always keep some tape on me just in case!

      I love it! I've realized for me personally I like a tent that has poles with 4 points of contact with the ground. Not to mention the room inside that thing is awesome

    Notice the tent you used mate on the desert high winds part of canyon! here in our country we are use of experiencing high altitude high winds camping. Maybe just a suggestion to include some type of "AERODYNICS TENT" to your gears that can withstand high wind haha.

    Very nice. Some people are truly ignorant and that was the best thing to do. Karma will get them for it. I hope your brother is warm enough in the outfitter tent. You can get a spare tent pole at REI stores. Just carry one from now on. Great video, TY for posting

    When your tent pole snapped, I thought duct tape to the rescue, then the words appeared on the video. Moma said never leave home without duct tape boy. I never forget my duck tape. I learned about those quick to turn cold nights and I mean quick hitchhiking through Arizona in 1972.

    • @BrooksandBirches
      @BrooksandBirches  2 года назад

      Moma was a smart woman David! I never leave home without it! I either have it in my truck or in my backpack and use it to fix just about everything. Yeah those nights get cold super quickly, especially with those clear skies

    You need a built, big comfortable 4x4 Suburban to sleep in. Forget the tents and no heat pickup bed.

    • @BrooksandBirches
      @BrooksandBirches  2 года назад +1

      Funny thing is Jerome, I was telling my brother in law that next time I would probably get a suburban instead. Simply because at truck stops and in parking lots etc it’s much easier to get into bed then going around the back

    Man I hate camping out in the middle of nowhere and some one decides to set up camp right next to me. Always off-roaders too, like they think they own these public lands or something. There's hundreds of other spots you could've stayed at, why are you here? lol

      Me too! It happens more often than I would like as well. The amount of times I get a great site early and someone turns up at the end of the day and gives me the "we were really hoping to get this site...." Well it's first come first served and you came too late, I don't know what to tell you

    Great trip so far, minus the camera and tent pole. We need a close up of the two of you,,,,your faces. I see the family likeness. Here in Texas, at my family place, for some reason there are a bizillion scorpians, which we never knew existed, tho occasionally we would find them in the house, ect. Well there in the yard, in the grass, every f---king where. I had seen people talk about uv flashlight, and got one. Thats when we realized they were everywhere. No more barefoot in the yard, or tenting, or anything friggin thing. Me and my nephew both got the 100 plus bulb uv flashlights and go on hunts. I have a hoe handle I use to smash em,, he has the hammer of death. Sometimes 100, 200, up the the highest 350 one night. I ordered it from Amazon, and it so much, well I don't know of fun is the word, but having been stung a few times, I have no problem dispatching them to scorpion heaven. If your are going to spend alot of time in the desert in the future,, I suggest investing in one,,, $25 or so. Plus it fun hunting them,, are florescent in UV light and glow bright neon blue. Easy to find. They detest sunlight, so when the UV light hits them, the get real uncomfortable real quick. No suggesting you dispatch yours, but it very interesting seeing them. Plus the flashlight make day glo fun, like at halloween. Anyway, back to your trip. Enjoying it so much. Hope you will get to Moab, and Brice canyon on this trip since you are close. Have more fun,, really enjoying it.

    out of your element the desert is awesome place just be mindful of snakes scorpions and other things that seem safe but are deadly admire you choose to try desert camping it not the same water is gold in desert never waste a drop is my advise👍 9 may I ask what place is this it seems northern west best time yr is spring fall winter for camping summer you cook in day and freeze at night 40 point drops in temp make you cold fast

    • @BrooksandBirches
      @BrooksandBirches  2 года назад +1

      Yeah the temp went from 75 all the way down to 20 overnight and after a few days in the sunshine it really felt cold. Unfortunately due to having to move campsites late we couldn’t start a fire at night time
