Wow…..yet another amazing band I’ve never heard of!! Where have I been?? Great reaction Brandon, and again, thanks John for this request of yours! The vocals were giving me vibes of Steve Walsh (formerly of Kansas). John, I hope you enjoy my request later in the week…hope they’re new to you as well as Brandon.
I knew you'd love 'em!!! We even talked about that fact last night haha. I just assumed you knew them and had seen them live 😁 Ah yes, pretty sure I heard some Walsh in there and maybe a bit of Shaw. I think John will love tomorrow's vid. By the way, another Symphony X tune coming out on Patreon in an hour or 2! (the blocked one)
@@retroreactions....First time for me too. These guys sound like Trans Siberian Orchestra at times. TSO is more diversified in styles, like Evanescence with My Immortal. As Christmas gets closer, you should do some TSO.
@@retroreactions.... Oh... I'm new here so sorry about being clueless... u only do reactions from 2000 and back? So... The odyssey story is from 750-650 BCE... ok? (I'm trying)
No worries. My channel time window is 1970-1999. I made an exception on dates here because the person who requested these is in my highest paid tier over on Patreon. Would love any 90s SX suggestions though! I'm sure I can listen to The Odyssey on my own 😊
@@Xsymph 😄👍 Great suggestion and welcome! Yeah, The Odyssey is great, as is that whole album! Like Brandon said, it's only songs from 1970-1999 on the RUclips channel (with the occasional exception because Brandon is a good guy! 😎🤗) There are no time period/era restrictions on Patreon so if you dig Brandon's style and the excellent eclectic selection of deep album cuts he often does, consider joining? Even the lowest tiers can listen to everything he posts there, and the two highest tiers basically pay for the privilege of having a request played once a month. I'm a bit obsessed with music and want people to hear music I love, especially if it's something that people might not be familiar with and I think they might enjoy.
JLR's Symphony X Recommendations: For what it's worth here's some of my favorite Symphony X songs. While I love, like, or at least appreciate most of that they do, my favorites tend to be the ones that are more in the realm of prog rock, meaning the more dynamic and melodic ones featuring more keyboards, sometimes a mix of electric and acoustic guitar, at least some clean/soft vocals, etc. I love a lot of their more aggressive and intense high energy driving metal songs too but I seek them out less often. I was a bit disappointed that their last three albums were mostly in the realm of aggressive metal. I put an * next to my three favorite albums below. Michael Romeo, who is the guitarist and main composer for Symphony X, put out a couple recent solo albums and they are more symphonic and cinematic than the last three Symphony X albums IMHO and are well worth checking out if that's your thing like it is for me! Enjoy! ------------------------------------- Symphony X (1994 - Rod Tyler vocals) Absinthe and Rue Shades of Grey A Lesson Before Dying The Damnation Game (1995) The Edge of Forever Whispers A Winter's Dream: Prelude, Pt. Outstanding Brandon, picked me up after disappointments recently with the more obscure tracks from my beloved Genesis. This was great, but there's usually a caveat?... There was power and majesty, but it needed more quiet vocal storytelling passages to accentuate the grand stuff which for me was a bit overpowering and stopped me putting them amongst the great composers like Floyd and Genesis. OK, praps I expect too much? Still great though...
I'm glad you enjoyed them, Graham! 🥳 Their song "Candlelight Fantasia" that had to be put on Patreon you might like vocally? I've been listening to and loving Symphony X for about 30 years so I'm totally in love. 😅 If you come back to them occasionally over the next few years they might grow on you a bit? 😎👍
Wow, what a perfect power blend of emotional orchestral wonder and gorgeous metal guitar and vocal work... Thanks for watching! 🥰
The year 2000 is barely breaking the rules. 😃
😁
Yeah russell allen and michael romeo are legends
Nice.
Song 2, YES!!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Their song Candlelight Fantasia got blocked, but I highly suggest you listen to it!
Thank you very much. 😀👍

Great suggestion. I have heard a few TSO songs during Christmas time on the radio back in the days! Thanks for watching Charles...
Dang! I'm a little late to this reaction, but glad I came. Symphony X has been on my radar for awhile now, and they sound amazing!
I'm glad you enjoyed them! 🥳👍
