Metroid Prime 4 being a cross gen launch title would help it so much. You've got the massive install base on Switch 1 and the day one S2 buyers desperate for a brand new game to take advantage of their new console.
And not to mention the fans like ME being eager to take Samus on another galactic adventure full of intrigues and dreads! Like Zelda before with Breath of the Wild, I'm hoping that Metroid Prime 4 Beyond would give the series a much needed lift critically and commercially.
They really need something that looks next-gen on launch to help educate consumers that this is a *successor* to the Switch, not just a Switch XL. Metroid has much more potential in that capacity than MK8.2, and it doesn’t necessarily need to be a huge seller to serve that function in selling the console to new demographics than the core Nintendo superfans.
Because Metroid Prime 4 was made for Switch 1 in mind, if it becomes cross gen, the Switch 2 version won't have any differences besides higher resolution, faster load times, or a few more patches of grass in some areas. Don't get your hopes up.
also, metroid dread being the most successful metroid in the list is probably because it is THE showcase game for switch OLED, which wasn't even that much of an upgrade but it got people interested enough to try it.
There’s a 5th: it took so long to make metroid 4 that Nintendo and Retro will make sure that this game can sell as much as they can to recoup investment.
The Wii had Wii Sports as the multiplayer family game, and Twilight Princess as the immersive singleplayer game on launch day, and that worked out pretty well. Having Mario Kart and Metroid Prime could serve the same purpose for Switch 2.
Wii had Twilight Princess (cross-gen GAMER game) and Wii Sports (fun casual game). Switch had Breath of the Wild (cross-gen GAMER game) and 1-2 Switch (fun casual experience). this formula of a more “hardcore” game that for whatever reason is always cross-gen paired with a fun casual game seems to work wonders. new Mario Kart would basically be the best casual game ever as it’s far more of a game than 1-2 Switch or even Wii Sports while still catering to everyone. Metroid Prime 4 would be a fantastic cross-gen gamers’ game for reasons you mentioned. The logic is sound!! Lock it in!!
Absolutely no one seems to remember that Mario Odyssey was teased in the earliest Switch videos, but did NOT come out on launch day. Mario Kart will surely come out within the first year ... but something about the glimpse we saw of it makes me think it will not be quite done on launch day. Do they really want to introduce their NEW hardware with a game so close in appearance to its predecessor that many were not sure it wasn't just a port of 8 with new karts? They need to catch our attention with something we HAVEN'T played before ... or constantly for the past Decade.
@XgamerdaveX I am replying to the idea that, because MarioKart is the first Switch 2 game we have seen, many assume it will definitely be the first game we will PLAY, and pointing out that past evidence shows that may not be so.

Especially considering switch 2 might not seem as exciting as switch 1 since its essentially just a better switch. New mario kart will help to sell the system a lot.
It makes complete sense. Metroid being cross gen sells it on the switch 1 just because and sells on switch 2 cuz is the perfect showcase for the mouse functionality
Yep it will profit from Switch 2 showcase and audience build-up, AND from the large player base on the Switch for sure! I do wonder how they'll handle it since Switch games play on Switch 2. So will you just be able to upgrade to the Switch 2 build for free when buying for Switch and later move over to Switch 2? If not, what could they charge for it?
I think your thought process is great here and you alluded there could be a 3D Mario game as well which I believe will be the case (platformer, racer and fps). Either eay, these videos are fun and the hype for this systme is huge/fun, just hope it isnt too difficult to find one on launch day

They likely will for the simple reason that they announced it for switch (just like botw on Wii U). Didn’t want to let down the fans on a fake promise so they dropped it on both. Use your brain you can of worms
@quayzar_escabar it's not the series but the situation. You want people to switch from Switch 1 to Switch 2 and having a switch 1 version could harm the sales at launch. The jump between the Will U to Switch is a lot different from the Switch 1 to Switch 2. The Wii U had very poor sales and I feel like the Zelda breath of the wild was a good send off. I think the game running on Switch showed how powerful it was. Also I'm hoping the game is more built around the Switch 2 which would mean it would take more effort to get it on Switch 1. I'm no expert but I don't see why Nintendo would make a Switch 1 version if you want the Switch 2 to be as successful as the Switch 1 or better.
They were hyping up Metroid Prime 4 right at the beginning of the Switch 1's life, but never really picked up on that hype until recently, so who knows? We'll most likely get a cross-console release for Metroid Prime 4 on Switch 1 & 2. (Though, the Switch 2 version would obviously be superior, as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Switch 1 was to its simultaneous release on Wii U.)
A side from these two, we most likely might be getting some kind of party game like Wii Sports, Nintendo Land, and 1-2-Switch that shows off some of the new features.
I just hope the team working on the new Mario Kart wasn't burnt out from making the 48 courses for the Booster Course Pass. So that the new one will have many fun, creative and good looking tracks!
Before even watching, Mario Kart is a shoe in, and I'm fairly confident in Metroid Prime 4 because it's a PRIME candidate for showing off the mouse functionalities of the new joycon. On top of that, Metroid is already a series that usually sells to the hardcore fans, which would buy both Mario Kart and Metroid, whereas most of the casual audience would only be picking up one game, that being Mario Kart. So both games would sell about as expected. Mario Kart will focus on great multiplayer and have a secondary focus on good single player content and Prime 4 will focus on single player and have a secondary focus on good multiplayer. ALL OF THAT BEING SAID, I do think Nintendo actually may have a third, more gimmicky game at or around launch, something designed more for everyone than Metroid and less competitive than Mario Kart.
I took the opportunity to try the mouse gesture on my Joy-Con, and they really were comfortable, even though they were small, so I can only imagine how comfortable using the Switch 2 Joy-Con as mice would be if Nintendo plans to implement this feature the way fans are hoping for.
I'm definitely buying both games, but I'm not so sure launching a Metroid game on the same day as the next Mario Kart would really be the most supportive release strategy. If I couldn't stretch to the cost of two games on top of the console on day one, I'd let Prime 4 wait a week or two, but depending on prices and surrounding releases, those with less of an interest in Metroid might pass it up altogether.
I think MK9 and MP4 will both launch this year, but not at the same time, Nintendo will spread out their AAA titles. Maybe they have a smaller title to launch next to a AAA title. The rest will be software of 3rd party studio's at launch, there will probably be plenty. I expect a 3D Mario game next year close to the release of the super mario bros 2 Movie.
I thought the same thing minus one thing: Nintendos online service does not have a great track record at launch. I don't think they are gonna bank on their halo launch game be an online game. I think it will come out within the first few months, similar to how OG Switch launched with a single player game and their multiplayer game (Splatoon 2) came out a few months later.
I do agree with you. This makes so much sense. How do you get quality series that has struggled to sell to the main stream? Give it the spotlight at launch. People can come in and buy MK, but then go and get MP4 as the “why not” experience. I will say this too. If Nintendo does make MP4 a launch title that means the they really believe in the game! Exciting!
It would make sense, because like you said, the two games complement themselves very well. But with the wording Nintendo used, I'm not so sure. For Pokemon Legends ZA they said the game was coming to the "Switch family of systems" implying a crossgen title, even before we had the confirmation the Switch 2 would be able to play current Switch games. Yet there are no similar mentions about Metroid Prime 4. I guess we will have to wait until Apr 2 !
People in this video when the console release you can’t just call Mario Kart 9. For example Mario Kart Tour already was the 9th Mario Kart because it’s use for as a mobile game for iPhone or Android, and it already has already the new tracks in it. You can choose the new name other than Mario Kart 9 because this is the 10th Mario Kart, not the 9th Mario Kart. Because remember, Mario Kart Tour had already been the 9th Mario Kart since it released in September 25th, 2019.Also it has been part of the Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Since the tracks been retro in March 2022 during the booster course pass DLC.🙁 A.Mario Kart Crossroads B.Mario Kart Cross C.Mario Kart X D.Mario Kart 10

Mario Kart 8 is absolutely a pack in title. Most of its sales come from holiday bundles.
that trailer was clearly switch 1. animations on enemies were stiff, their models looked normal. it looked just as graphically amazing as prime remastered.
I believe Nintendo wanted Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to be the longest-living Switch 2 and they successed with it surprisilly well because it's literally the most solded Switch game that people still play today and can't wait i'm so excited for Mario Kart 9, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond what might be a game for Switch 1 and Switch 2 both and the next 3D Mario game! Nintendo's next generation: Here we go!
4:44 It was developed by Bandai Namco and Nintendo was disappointed with the development so they rebooted the entire game, not because it was developed for 2 consoles. The very first trailer was revealed in Summer of 2017, the same year as Switch.
Metroid Prime may be one of the best SciFi video games ever. It's too bad that it doesn't get the love it deserves. Ecstatic for Metroid Prime 4. The weather effects and things like fog and rain beading on Samus' helmet were crazy when you realize it came out on the game cube in 2002.
Have Mario appear as a space bounty hunter in Metroid 5 Beyond. When he gets corrupted by space pirates and you have to defeat him, you gain the ability to break brick blocks with your fist, after consuming spotted space mushrooms.
Awesome thoughts! 😄 And though I'm pretty sure that Breath of the Wild Remastered project would HAVE to be a launch title as well and be just as much of a showcase of the Switch 2's graphical capabilities, we and Nintendo would need more than that for the launch! 😲🚀
Edit: Ok, at least in the launch window. Within the first month even! Don't wanna divert attention from the two big launch hitters at the start! 😎⚾️ (*remembers Smash Melee being like that back on the GameCube, launched one month after*)
It makes sense, my only issue... I think Nintendo might want to release the Remaster of Prime 2 and 3 before 4... So that people can play 1-3 before 4. So until we see Prime 2 and 3 Remaster on Switch, I personally don't think we will get Prime 4 on Switch 2 Launch.
Here are some of my ideas for Switch 2 games: Donkey Kong Country Re-Kong-Structed Trilogy: I’d imagine this would be done be the same people behind DKC Returns and Tropical Freeze. Plus any excuse to bring King K Rool back would make a lot of people happy. Kirby Planet Robobot Deluxe: There were actual rumors from a couple of months ago stating that this would happen, and I hoping that they are true because Planet Robobot is my favorite of the Kirby 3DS games. Mario Power Tennis Remake (Ft. Wapeach): A new Mario Tennis game in general would also work. Either way, I just wanna see Wapeach get introduced in the series. Super Mario Maker 3: Take the best of the first two games and add more to them. This includes new game styles like Bowser’s Fury and Super Mario Bros Wonder, new enemies like Shy Guy and Birdo, new power ups like the Penguin Suit for NSMBU and the Tanooki Suit for SMB3, and even new playable characters like Peach And Daisy. What do you think of my ideas? What games would you like to see on the Switch 2? Let me know in the replies below.
I don't think they will release MP4 at the same time. It will be absolutely overshadowed my Mario Kart. The best way to sell MP4, would be releasing it a month before Switch 2, as the big final game for Switch, just before Mario Kart (May?). Then a February Nintendo Direct would have so much sense: Reveal MP4 for May, Pokémon Z&A for summer, Metroid Prime 2&3 for March/April.
Is mk 9 going to be the deluxe version, or the complete version? (No dlc needed cause it's all in there, sell complete games again) and more importantly is it going to be good or improved gameplay features, not just a copy and paste, we all waited a decade
Make Metroid be an online competitive game like Halo, and have its purchase unlock a unique Samus racer and Metroid stage in Mario Kart. Boom, you have a slam dunk console release.
I'm still one of those weird folks that thinks Prime 1 is not gonna be cross gen, and it'll come out about a month before Switch 2, possibly getting a performance patch on the latter later down the line. If it actually *is* a cross gen launch title, then we might get Prime 2 and 3 on Switch in the meantime, so I'll be happy to be wrong or right on this one lol.
I think you're spot on, however, I do think we'll get something else everyone can enjoy that's packaged into the system. Maybe something like Mario Paint? They could go a long way with that. The reason I think they will do this is because they need to do everything they can to make people make the jump to the new system. There are a lot of fence sitters.
Having a good launch line up is not hard. The problem is console manufacturers either launch their hardware out the gate in a rush. The other problem is they don’t want to bring out their best on a platform with no audience.
This could this work, but only thing worrying is Mario Kart 9 mighr overshadow Prime 4 I think they should do Prime 4 and Nintendo Switch Sports Resorts And then next month Mario Kart But this could still work
I can see your predictions happening. I don't know if I'll be picking up the Switch 2 myself or save it for either my birthday in late May or for Christmas, but either way, you can count on these games (or at least the new Mario Kart one) being in my collection.
Mario Kart is a beloved game filled with pure fun, but it is not a console seller. The only way I could see that changing if there was some kind of free-drive cross-country adventure mode.
@@maxrn3923Mario Kart 8 originally came out on the Wii U. How well did that console sell again? If you already have a Switch, of course you buy Mario Kart, but you would only be able to find a small pool of people who mainly bought the Switch so that they could play Mario Kart.
@@BobPeterson628 The Wii U didn't sell well because people were idiots and didn't see any difference between the Wii and Wii U. It has nothing to do with Mario Kart. I had an excellent time on my Wii U and in some sense, it still beats the switch in some way.
I agree Mario Kart is likely a day 1 game. I also think your reasoning for prime 4 is not a bad idea either.
I took the opportunity to try the mouse gesture on my Joy-Con, and they really were comfortable, even though they were small, so I can only imagine how comfortable using the Switch 2 Joy-Con as mice would be if Nintendo plans to implement this feature the way fans are hoping for.
They are going to make me buy Prime 4 twice physically, one for the original Switch and one for SW2. I know I'm part of the problem.
Pokemon ZA might also have a shot at being one, now for it to push sales it should really have visible improvements over Switch 1.
I think MK9 and MP4 will both launch this year, but not at the same time, Nintendo will spread out their AAA titles. Maybe they have a smaller title to launch next to a AAA title. The rest will be software of 3rd party studio's at launch, there will probably be plenty.
I expect a 3D Mario game next year close to the release of the super mario bros 2 Movie.
it's mario kart 10 because Nintendo counts tour as 9
I thought the same thing minus one thing: Nintendos online service does not have a great track record at launch.
"Switch family" usually in the past always meant Switch, Switch OLED and Switch Lite
No Pokémon never cross gens
Aside from Mario Kart, the second launch game will be a smaller game where we use the mouse joycons.
Because remember, Mario Kart Tour had already been the 9th Mario Kart since it released in September 25th, 2019.Also it has been part of the Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Since the tracks been retro in March 2022 during the booster course pass DLC.🙁
A.Mario Kart Crossroads

Hard to believe a gatcha game with broken controls is 9th entry. Pretty sure mkt is just a side installment instead. Most of us fans are still expecting mk9
Mario Kart 8 is absolutely a pack in title. Most of its sales come from holiday bundles.
You mean 9? (or 10 or whatever)
@@robomix9744 their talking about the current version. The switch mario kart bundle is a big reason its sold so much.
@@robomix9744 No 8 was packed in from time to time
Mario Kart will certainly not be a pack in. People buy Mario kart, why would they give it away?
@@miami2881 you definitely do not know how pack-in's work lol
Golden sun remake is the best kept secret
not happening ever
@terrysyvertson9205 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@terrysyvertson9205 let me dream
@@zoomgallygallyno, Nintendo has no interest in bringing it back ever because the ds game was such a flop, it killed the IP
Mario kart worldwide might be a title of the game
Finally a great video about this topic. Good arguments and valid speculations without talking nonesense.
There's no way on earth the metroid 4 gameplay wasn't on switch 2
that trailer was clearly switch 1. animations on enemies were stiff, their models looked normal. it looked just as graphically amazing as prime remastered.
If that was switch 2 footage I'd be very concerned.
While I definitely do believe MP4 will be a cross generation title, I personally don’t think it’ll be a day one launch title.
If you look at the FAQ section of the Switch 2 play event, it says multiple titles will be playable
You forgot the 3rd game, which is certainly the next 3D Mario.
A new Mario kart and Metroid 4 beyond would be so awesome!
great video andre I think your reasoning makes a lot of since with switch 2 launch.
My guess is Mario Kart 9 and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Let’s just hope every respectable channel doesn’t cover any leaks before it and then act surprised when the presentation doesn’t met their standards.
4:44 It was developed by Bandai Namco and Nintendo was disappointed with the development so they rebooted the entire game, not because it was developed for 2 consoles. The very first trailer was revealed in Summer of 2017, the same year as Switch.
Andre hinting at a Goose joining the roster with the way he did the cover for the Mario Kart Switch 2
I think they will have the game "1 switch 2"
I keep hearing that the Nintendo switch 2 is going to have some sort of AI upscaling feature so it doesn't make sense to make a ns2 mp4
I still think Metroid Prime 4 It's Only Switch 1 game with DLC and patch for Switch 2 in a few months
Have Mario appear as a space bounty hunter in Metroid 5 Beyond. When he gets corrupted by space pirates and you have to defeat him, you gain the ability to break brick blocks with your fist, after consuming spotted space mushrooms.
Metroid is one of my favorite series. I hope it starts selling better so we can hopefully get more remasters and remakes of the earlier entries.
(*remembers Smash Melee being like that back on the GameCube, launched one month after*)
It makes sense, my only issue... I think Nintendo might want to release the Remaster of Prime 2 and 3 before 4... So that people can play 1-3 before 4.
So until we see Prime 2 and 3 Remaster on Switch, I personally don't think we will get Prime 4 on Switch 2 Launch.
What if we get Prime 2 and 3 Remaster in the potential February Switch 1 direct?
Here are some of my ideas for Switch 2 games:
Donkey Kong Country Re-Kong-Structed Trilogy:
I’d imagine this would be done be the same people behind DKC Returns and Tropical Freeze. Plus any excuse to bring King K Rool back would make a lot of people happy.
Kirby Planet Robobot Deluxe:
There were actual rumors from a couple of months ago stating that this would happen, and I hoping that they are true because Planet Robobot is my favorite of the Kirby 3DS games.
Mario Power Tennis Remake (Ft. Wapeach):
A new Mario Tennis game in general would also work. Either way, I just wanna see Wapeach get introduced in the series.
Super Mario Maker 3:
Take the best of the first two games and add more to them.
Nintendo should already know this lesson about storage capacity...
I really hope there's a new odyssey or bowsers fury game announced
I think it's something huge, Mario Kart and Metroid Prime 4!
You forget Pokémon Legends Z-A
I'm still one of those weird folks that thinks Prime 1 is not gonna be cross gen, and it'll come out about a month before Switch 2, possibly getting a performance patch on the latter later down the line.
So it's Encore not Concord right
0:43 Had me laughing so much. I love you Andre
Having a good launch line up is not hard. The problem is console manufacturers either launch their hardware out the gate in a rush. The other problem is they don’t want to bring out their best on a platform with no audience.
I think it will be Mario Kart and some party game that shows the features. Metroid is after launch i believe.
This could this work, but only thing worrying is Mario Kart 9 mighr overshadow Prime 4
I think they should do Prime 4 and Nintendo Switch Sports Resorts
And then next month Mario Kart
But this could still work
Dang you kinda nailed it dude. Great reasoning.
I can see your predictions happening. I don't know if I'll be picking up the Switch 2 myself or save it for either my birthday in late May or for Christmas, but either way, you can count on these games (or at least the new Mario Kart one) being in my collection.
Andre this is when you are on all cylinders. Great video!
Mario Kart is a beloved game filled with pure fun, but it is not a console seller. The only way I could see that changing if there was some kind of free-drive cross-country adventure mode.
Mario Kart is definitely a console seller bro😂
@@maxrn3923Mario Kart 8 originally came out on the Wii U. How well did that console sell again? If you already have a Switch, of course you buy Mario Kart, but you would only be able to find a small pool of people who mainly bought the Switch so that they could play Mario Kart.
@@BobPeterson628 The Wii U didn't sell well because people were idiots and didn't see any difference between the Wii and Wii U. It has nothing to do with Mario Kart. I had an excellent time on my Wii U and in some sense, it still beats the switch in some way. Did you know that out of the 13.56 million units of the Wii U that are sold, 8.46 million players bought Mario Kart 8? So 60% is not a small player base...
@@Thundercloud369I doubt people are going to appreciate the material difference between the Switch and Switch 2, so we might be heading toward a repeat. Just because 60% of an install base possesses a game, does not mean that the game drove sales of the console.
Look at the best-selling games for each Nintendo system. Mario Kart is always at the top.
