Mark Pope and Kentucky basketball are making moves in the transfer portal!

- Kentucky basketball head coach Mark Pope is already doing work in the transfer portal. Javon Small from the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Amari Williams from Drexel basketball are two new options that would fit Pope's system perfectly. Aly Khalifa and Jaxson Robinson of the BYU Cougars are also still available and could choose the Wildcats.

All of these comments from folks concerned about the star players hitting the portal, don't be worried. They all committed to Cal so they can go to the NBA next year. We want 3-4 year players that care about college. They are the ones that grow your team into a national championship.

@@charlesgerlach7059 Never have and Never Will. U forget Cal only picked up where Pitino left off at. Having 4 and 5 star players. All Pitino's teams were NBA caliber teams. This ain't the 70's and 80's guy. These kids wanna run and gun and occasionally slow it up. That's why Auburn Bruce Pearl and Ole Miss Nate Oats said no thanks. Fans don't dictate how teams play. But u want to so bad. Go coach a team then

-Marcus Adams No. 29 player in the Class of 2024 by 247Sports before reclassifying to 2023. Only played 1 game last year due to waiver, injury, death of father.
We need some of Mark Popes Players from BYU as well and we need Reed back as well

there are levels to this game and I like BYU but... there are levels and getting offers to go to BYU would never even be look at from any SEC school. Levels. If BYU would have played Tennessee Alabama UK there record would have been way different. I know what your going to say -- we lost to Oakland - I get it -- but that 26 year old has never hit that many 3's in his life, he had the game of his life and never will do it again because he can't make it at the next level. UK plays that team 100 more time and we win 97
BYU played Kansas, Houston, Baylor, etc. this last year. They've only been in the Big 12 for one year though.

UK lost to Kansas, neutral site. BYU beat Kansas at Phog Allen. Cal can’t coach, he relies on talent to elevate his status. If Pope can get some good guys who can play, UK can be really good first year!
@@brianbuckel2841 you are missing the point. Players being recruited for BYU are never even considered as potential players at more elite D1 schools, like UK or Tennessee etc. that’s the levels we’re talking about here.
Your gonna find players to come here no doubt its just not gonna be any top talent which don't if anyone has noticed you gotta have a couple on a team to win a championship in the new college basketball landscape
Your not going to win championships with kids if you don't want to come to Kentucky to give your all for your teammates and school go with can't Coach Cal everyone saying we ran him off I only made one bad comment about his defense because he never thought nothing other than man to man dribble drive he was just committed to winning championships at Kentucky and the next week he left for Arkansas without even telling the AD at Kentucky until he was gone which was great saved us $33 million I think Pope can put together a team with experience that's what wins championships I just can't believe all the kids leaving with Cal and not thinking about Reed Shepard their teammate but will be good I have hope in Pope

We could do better than just solid. 37% is not excellent outside the arch. 35% is only good. 40% or better is great. Gonna have to do better than this.

Who cares? This year will be a rebuild. Rather have that than another top class that can't be coached out of the first round. Just because losing Cal means losing one class of recruits, doesn't mean he stays doing his same BS until he retires

What do you think about Richie Saunders. He did a lot of dirty work for BYU. I really like him. I hope he comes. If we get Jaxon Robinson, khalifa and saunders along with javon small and a couple others maybe Adou comes back. That'd be a pretty darn good group I think.
Saunders could have easily started for BYU and led scoring. He came off the bench because he was younger than Johnson and Knell. His passion, energy, hustle, and grit are contagious. Very physical too. Makes so many shots/layups that he shouldn't make... just hustles the ball through the hoop
We are about to suck soooo much. Kentucky fans excited for mark pope are lying to themselves. The guy is such a downgrade it’s not even funny.
At this point I want to see jordan burks stay, and if Mark pope can bring in Khlifa, Hall, and Robinson thats a solid core that already knows his system. I would like to see him get some more shooters, and another couple big dudes, one that can play in the post and another that can dribble, pass and shoot the 3. Im interested to see how this goes.

Its not looking very promising. Pope struck out on retaining anyone, we might get some 3 star caliber guys from BYU, all the guys that were signed to UK are now dropping like flies...just not looking very good. I believe its going to take a healthy mix of talented players and developmental players. So far, Pope has struck out on talented players. Ugh. I hope Pope can put something together and make me a believer
Nope, he will be respectable at best. All those lofty expectations and hopes for another banner are now gone, he's in Fayetteville. Pope is jus gonna shake hands and kiss babies. That's what Big Blue Nation wanted. All of the wins and good players will be in Arkansas. The fans were spoiled and ran the one guy who stood in the fire 4 BBN and took all the hits and negative ridicule until enough was enough. Now Arkansas will reap the benefits meant for UK. But hey, the fans in UK got there wish Cal is gone. Far enough that we can still see his success 😅
let them drop, they only played offense, the only defensive players we had that were consistant were 3 and 4 yr players. Reed Sheppard was the exception. What good is it to score 100 points a game but all 110. what good is it when you cant score because you cant handle good defensive teams.
Expectations were one or two would stay, and that will end up about right.

No one wants to be here without the guy who bought them here and then play against him next year......yea right. These kids ain't dumb...only us fans
