Thank God they went over the training methods of the police dog. I think the fact that the dog was trained using food rewards rather than toy rewards could blow this case wide open!
The defendant, “creepy old man teenager” needs 4 Defense Attorneys?? They can’t be public defenders if there is 4 of them. How on earth can he afford that many defense attorneys?
The attorney who's sitting next to GA, not doing anything, is there in case he's convicted. His job is to keep GA from getting the Death Penalty. I assume GA's been declared "indigent," and all attorneys are being paid out of the fund for indigent defendants.
Interchangeable, but “your honor” would be considered more formal and used more often among older attorneys and judges. Then again, the overall tone in the courtroom could also dictate which phrase gets used. This trial has a pretty light and casual feel overall (all things considered,) so using “judge” is perfectly suitable here.
@@claudineschultz8349 ..way better than the limp anything goes judge in the jodie aries trial. she was awful and it made the trial so much longer. w/this going to the bench all the time.
The witness is extra cheerful and giggly. Anybody else finds this disturbing? This is a murder trial and they need to be respectful to the victims and their family!!!
She is very personable, she doesn't mean disrespect in any way. I see her as a natural, good natured confident & happy person, a rare commodity in our world.
I don’t think anyone thinks she is being disrespectful. Its clearly just her personality and her laughing isn’t directed at anyone or anything during particularly graphic or serious testimony. She is serious when she needs to be serious. I’ve seen many Judges, Attorneys and witnesses be way more insensitive during trials then this witness. Also, although I don’t think it’s the case here but lots of people giggle or laugh or smile when they are nervous. My only comment about this witness is that she should cut her hair, it would be very pretty cut to her shoulders.
Can someone please help me as to what word the judge says three times between 48:04 and 48:16? Phonetically I'd spell it Wardeer/Gwardeer... is it a legal term?
It is two words. “Voir Dire” is a legal term and stems from old French/Latin. It is usually pronounced by people in the USA like “vore deer” or “Vwah Dyer.” The term essentially refers to a process/right wherein each side’s attorney asks questions to potential jury members in order to ascertain any potential bias he/she might have. Basically, Voir Dire is the process of selecting a jury.
She looks nervous. Sometimes people react to nervous anxiety with laughter. I agree that her reactions don't reflect the gravity of the situation, but it doesn't mean there is something wrong with her and the job she did. No doubt she was made aware of her behaviour afterward, but I don't care. She is adorable.
I'm impressed that she works very hard rather then assigning tasks to clerks. I'll wager she can lay her hand on each & every piece of paper she needs. If you want things done. Give it to a busy person
@Leopard Boas The 4th Amendment talks to "Unwarranted search and seizure" In this case, Cody Amato's phone was digitally found to be plugged into Grant Amato's computer at 11:42 P.M. on the night of the murders, in an attempt to wipe all data from it. Both the phone and the computer were seized under a warrant pursuant to lawful arrest, i.e. U,S, vs Robinson, 1973. The defenses claim that the witness was "A mind reader speculating what happened outside her presence..." was denied.
I hate to say this, and I am faithful to the prevention of domestic battery and aggravated assault actions, but somebody needs to seriously slap that constant grin off Ms. Blay's face- she is acting like our entire court/justice system and processes is a farce, like our system of justice is some kind of joke- she's making a mockery of the court- someone needs to seriously smack that arrogant "I am the only one who can do dis," smile off her face VERBALLY...not physically..although the image does yield a vivid moment of righteousness and clarity. This is the only time I've seen such behavior..it disgusts me.
I think that she's nervous. English isn't even her first language and she might be camera shy. Sloan Young was exactly the same.. I like what JinkerJim said Feb 2020 about it not being the actual funeral too.
She was only being that way during the questioning of her experiences and education....once the actual testimony about her investigation starts she becomes serious and professional. I don’t think it was disrespectful in any way......some people are commenting that the Judge is too serious and angry and others comment that this witness is too happy and laughing.....I also know that some people giggle or smile when they are nervous. When she is actually testifying about the facts of evidence she is very serious.
You're so right. Smiling when someone makes a joke is an offense that deserves repeated violence. I totally believe that you are a good person despite wanting to slap a woman who has a nervous smile and who smiles when someone jokes with her. Violence is a good solution for people who smile. You're a good person. Keep holding these opinions because the world needs to hear them.
If you are cool with the idea that she is incredibly qualified and has tons of training and experience, you can skip to 6:40.

They are public defenders actually, I looked because I was thinking similar, I think it's mandatory for death sentence cases in Florida or something.

How funny that the court reporter WASNT even in the court room as the judge was addressing the lawyers!

In Canada you call the judge "Your Worship"
Same reason you might call a customer “Mr Smith” sometimes and “Sir” at other times. One is quicker.
It's called respect
This witness is having fun at a murder trial!
The prosecutor is theatric. Maybe that's what this witness is laughing at.

well it's her job. And she is not allowed to have any personal feelings regarding the case.

MG Gailitis; And some react to nervousness with a snarky demeanor. I'll take the funny side, though it doesn't do much for the witness's credibility
