You are correct however, he comes from culture where people are not afraid to express opinions. More often than not Artist is hired for their talent. No Salman or heavyweights of the industry can ruin careers. I'm surprised he's calling Bhansali Sir instead of just Sanjay. That culture needs to go. India still has classroom mentality where teacher's pets are favoured.

Tbh everyone is talking about tajdar's acting and aura but as for me I really appreciate taj's role but moreover jason's role in the series was very appreciating too. Why is it that everyone has the same opinion about Sharmin? Is she rude or arrogant, like literally everyone kind of dislikes her. He spilled the beans by saying that Bhansali asked Sharmin to act with her heart, not brain. It means, he wasn't very pleased with her acting and this is the best he could bring out. A clear case of nepotism. How did a perfectionist like Bhansali let her get away???? Maybe this is how much he could make her stretch herself, and he thought the audience will overlook her lack of expressions because of the way her character was written. The women have also mentioned in an interview that Bhansali was quite harsh on Sharmin.

People make fun of those who look like, say Nawaaz, but it´s exactly his looks and his ability to look like a common street Indian that enables him to make the character believable. Roles like his in "Talaash" could therefore not have been done by anyone else, some chocolate hero whose "acting prep" is to be papped going in and out of a Bandra or Juhu gym every day 🙄. Or they´d be searching up and down the country for REAL people with talent. Their focus isn't art, it's making a quick buck! Just look at all the dancing and singing shows. Except for someone like Shreya, the contestants are always MORE talented and more learned in their craft than the people put there as judges. And even then, they show makers force in some sob stories and scripted drama to try and rope in the viewers. Gaya woh zamaana SaReGaMa ka, jab SIRF AUR SIRF qaabiliyyat dekhi jaati thee, aur koi fazool background music dhan dhana dhan aur zabardasti ki dukhi kahaanian nahin dikhaai jaati theen. The reason why Heera Mandi is even getting the views is because people are STARVED of seeing familiar culture, whether it be libaas, mauseeqi, lehjaa, classical dances or era. I think people are tired of the foreign-aspiring content, the re-makes, the umpteenth item song with a foreign beauty shaking her stuff among a 100 drunk guys leering at her, yet another Baadshah song sounding like all his other, and yet another "launching project" of somebody´s daughter, son or niece 🙄🙄🙄. If you think about it, Heera Mandi is subpar and really nothing special, but people are watching hoping to see some dance or music that celebrates THEIR culture. Bollywood has completely lost it. They do not understand their own viewers and have been churning out the same old recipe formula in hopes to pull in the crowds (and that goal alone says so much about the stalling of creativity and real stories). Honestly...Heera Mandi is a forced project. He spent FOURTEEN YEARS and THIS is the result?! The man copied some of his own previous work, some from old greats and the rest is just a display of too much focus on beautiful sets and clothes (but no focus on language, story and making actual sense). Overrated shakhs jiss ne apna shauq poora karte karte khud hi apna reputation mitti mein milaa diya.
Haha yeah the duck lips. Well you've made some fair points but I disagree with some. People don't watch Bhansali's movies to reconnect with their 'culture'. Least of all Heeramandi. For one most Indians don't come from an Urdu speaking background to be able to relate to it personally in any way and secondly tawaaifkhaane se kaunsi nostalgia hoti hai The views are pretty much from the same people who follow mainstream Bollywood films . People watch Heeramandi for the over the top depiction of something that's supposedly from the past. For the lavish sets and clothes. The dramebaazi and frankly the hammy scenes. My only problem with the show is how it ends up romanticising something that wasnt as black and white. Also Jason hardly speaks good Hindi even though he grew up here and has lived here all his life. His roles don't demand any prep as far as Hindi goes so maybe he never cared. And ironically he doesn't speak English well either.

The conversation about the r#pe scene was so tone deaf and insensitive. Both the interviewer and the actor should have handled it better. Laughing, bringing up Gabbar's quote , unnecessarily talking about the rest of the 'aadmi' in the scene. So weird. Im sure it wasnt intentional but if was uncomfortable to watch.
