The thing I honestly love about this, is that Julien keeps his bass line going throughout the entire song. Most barbershop quartets just all sing and it becomes really one dimensional and empty, but this is just pure Genius! Thank you Julien and Dan
This may be your best one. It is hard to say, they are all so good. Your bass part is sensational. Unless you've tried something like that walking bass, it is difficult to know how hard it is to sing it in exact intonation. You two guys have ears that are better that any electronic tuning correction. What a vocal blast you have created. So natural and yet so exciting.
@johndv777 One thing you have to keep in mind when watching these collab videos is that it's an illusion: we're not a real group, we never practiced together, in fact we never even met in person. We each recorded our parts separately with a few short pointers given in an email and then stitched everything together to make this video. This video reflects only our "first" try, so to speak.
@Jumpstylenumbahone Thank you very much for the kind comment, I'm delighted you enjoyed our little show! Please share the video if you liked it and help us spread the music! ;-)
@TBStudios91 Thank you very much, I appreciate it, especially from an old fan who's been around so long. Best way to show your support is to rate / favorite & most of all share with friends. ;-)
@ForeverAlonePrick It's actually my fourth Beatles cover: - When I'm 64 - In My Life - We Can Work It Out - With A Little Help From My Friends ... and two more on their way. Shhhh, it's a secret. ;-)
Dan Wright is actually a very impressive talent. In my opinion, the best example of multi-tracking harmony I've experienced thus far is Daniel's rendition of the Disney Aladdin Medley. It is an enormously complex production vocally that he executes flawlessly. And Julien is correct - these artists present these offerings at no charge and I am grateful to them all.
@WovenUnicornSweater Thanks for the compliment. Dan and I have different voices (I'm more a baritone-bass and his tone is lighter), we're also several years apart & speak different languages, which accounts for the differences in our styles and tones. I don't know which microphone Dan uses, mine is a ZoomH4n. I also sing about 1 meter away from the microphone, which gives my recording more of the room acoustics than Dan's who I think sings closer. Anyhow, glad you liked it!
@keats27 Thank you for the detailed constructive feedback, I appreciate it. Yes, the story-telling needs work. It's a difficult thing to do since we can't practice together at all: we each sing out parts separately and piece them together and see how it works. It's really a surprise for us to! ;-)
I'll be happy to give "Hey Jude" a try, I'm just currently giving priority to song requests made by supporters on Patreon (patreon.com/trudbol), since this is how I can cover production costs for these videos, which do have a cost (writing an arrangement then learning, recording, editing audio & video which takes an easy 50 hours / publishing on social media / paying copyright & arranger fees). You are welcome to drop $1 in my tip jar to help! A small donation can go a long way. :)
@bbstenor419 Thanks Ronny! Making collabs is fun, but it has its challenges too: you don't "control" the creative process and the performance as much as when you do everything on your own. This project with Dan was fortunately straightforward and fun. ;-)
We're simply using different camera lenses. I used a macro lens because I needed the camera to be close to me in order to set the focus. Objects get deformed easily with this kind of lens.
@JESCHE01 We tweaked the arrangement so as to split the melody line, thus swapping lead and baritone every now and then. The arrangement isn't very rangy for the lead & bari, it goes up to a high G4 (on "do you need"), it's in baritone / lead range. Or perhaps I didn't understand your question.
I'm almost glad that Trudbol isn't viral yet. It makes me feel quite hipster that I'm a fan of him before he is mainstream. Sweet arrangement. You've got a couple fans in Minnesota.
@peeeesh When singing such barbershop arrangements as a collab, it's best to alternate voicings so as to have a nice stereo panning & avoid having one person only sing high and the other only low. That leaves you with 2 combinations: one person sings tenor & baritone and the other one lead & bass. Since I have a deeper voice than Dan and that he's more comfortable singing high B4s, we went for the current set-up. It would be fun to flip it around, but I think it wouldn't work as well.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I'm a bass-baritone. This piece isn't that rangy, it's goes from G2 to G4 (for me) and up to B4 on the tenor part, which is reasonable baritone range. :)
"Naoto Matsumura, Guardian of Fukushima's Animals" just shared this great song. He's a friend to the animals in the Fukushima exclusion zone and this is a perfect song! Asking Mr. Matsumura's friends to like your FB page and listen to more of your great music as well! :)
I just sang the baritone part for this live at my brother's wedding yesterday... it was great! Thanks so much for the tracks and sheets :D You're a legend Julien!
I'm not sure I understand your question. The people I did collabs with are all very different. Some are music majors in college, some are older and enjoy singing on the side, some make music on RUclips for a living, etc. I just go for what strikes my fancy. :)
Well, can't win'em all. I think this collab turned out very nicely, I probably wouldn't have been able to sing this piece without Dan. He's solid on the high parts, we complement each other well.
@JoeLaFigue Merci ! Oui, j'applique des traitements vidéos à la hache, vu que je filme avec un appareil photo compact en mode macro et que je m'éclaire avec une lampe de chevet. On fait ce qu'on peut avec les moyens du bord. ;-)
Thanks for your support. At the risk of stating the obvious, please do not rip the audio from my videos and get my albums instead. It's the only way for me to continue making music. ;)
Even my friends who generally don't know anything about singing or aren't that fond of the Beatles had to say this is awesome! Keep up the good work, I really love your channel!
The thing I honestly love about this, is that Julien keeps his bass line going throughout the entire song. Most barbershop quartets just all sing and it becomes really one dimensional and empty, but this is just pure Genius! Thank you Julien and Dan
Damn it Julien Neel stop convincing me that all music is better in barbershop format.
I've cried for 5 hours, then I heard this song, it made me happy ☺
As someone who sings baritone in choir, this would be great to sing. For once we're given something important besides support.
Raphael Basile it's hard we get the crap parts but with out the baritone. The rest of the group/quartet falls apart
@Tricheystudios Thank you very much, we're delighted you enjoyed our little show! ;-)
The vocal on Paul' bass line is fantastic. I love your chords as well. Amazing
@MediaFi Thanks! Glad you enjoyed our show!

The bassline on this song is so great and you can tell my boy on bass had fun with it
I've already sung 3 songs in French: "Petit Papa Noël" and "Cantique de Noël" (both on this channel), and "Aux Champs-Elysées" (on cookiepine).
This is the greatest thing ever made.
Thanks, much appreciated! Plenty more Beatles a cappella on my channel, if you're interested. :)
+A Cappella Trudbol (Julien Neel) I think this one is better than the original version.

@MethosUSMC Our pleasure! Thank you for re-posting if you can, we'd appreciate it! ;-)
"I sing high with a little help from my friends?" Not as I remember it. Otherwise - great job.
Yes, we changed the lyrics on purpose. It's all in the video description.

Is he related to the Wright brothers?
Take care and God bless.

This music is so relaxing to listen to
I'm almost glad that Trudbol isn't viral yet. It makes me feel quite hipster that I'm a fan of him before he is mainstream.
Sweet arrangement. You've got a couple fans in Minnesota.
I thought this was one of the better ones because it had a certain personality to it. I like the way you made your voice sound like background music

Never heard this song before. Either the original was REALLLLLY good, or Trudbol is our God on earth
@FacciaDiBambino Ah, thank you for that nice comment and for your support! ;-)
Bass Trudbol is the coolest incarnation of Trudbol. Je t'aime.
This helps me when I’m not feeling so good about things. Thanks partner. This old boy sure appreciates it.
My pleasure. Thanks for dropping by an leaving a note. Be well
