One of my favorite parts was Mary's "clipping spray". I need that in my life. Nothing would make me feel more comfortable while cruxing than a friend telling the belayer when I'm clipping.
Wow this "Youre so strong Anna, you can hold on forever" is such a powerful and empowering sentence. Not just for climing. I love 4:3. The video feels like it is straight out of 80s independent kino. very cool
Your words here are gorgeous Anna. This actually made me cry. The part I think that really got me was to see the way @tradprincess supported you. The way she was calling down to your belayer to give you the smoothest ride possible; that thing she said, “you’re so strong, you could hold on forever”; the “you did it” when you clipped the chains-it felt really profound. Those are the people you keep around.
The “I did it” at the end made me emotional.. that’s really the exuberant feeling of getting to the top of something challenging. I get really in my head when I climb and the anxiety makes me feel like I breathe too intensely, sometimes I feel self conscious about that. But seeing the strength you have and being able to hear the way you breathe through this wonderful challenge makes me feel like maybe my climbing can be beautiful too
Amazing video. I love that the music is not over powering everything and we can see and hear the actual climbing. I love it. Very poetic and inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
Anna, your videos illuminate everything which is the angst and transformance of climbing at your personal edge. As a 70-yrear-old guy, whose "edge" has grown nearer to the Earth, I really appreciate your commitment to showing us what's important in climbing. 🙏
Thank you for this video!! I got to live and work in Tuolumne in the early 2000’s and they were some of the best years of my life. There’s nowhere like that place. Also the raw sounds of your breathing and climbing were just fantastic and totally captivating.
What a poetic video Anna. It really felt like how I feel when climbing. It's like if it's suddenly gives a super-sensitivity to everything around you. The ants going their way on the wall, the bird singing, the people chatting below, maybe one toe is slightly misplaced inside the shoe, maybe one drop of sweat is touching your eye. This, and on top of it, the climbing and the mental focus that goes with it at the same time. This is such a unique feeling.
What great build, moving from the narration to the breathing to the last push. It's only now, after watching, that I even noticed the grade (5.13d!). You and your team elevated it all past the numbers, to that feeling. So good. Thank you!
Thank You for being such a inspiration. I follow your channel for some time now, it is simply amazing. Your energy and passion for climbing made me think that, some day maybe I can do that to.
I don't know what it is but there's just something about watching someone climb such beautiful rock and hearing their breathing is just so amazing to me. I get a little teary eyed. I had that same feeling watching Seb climb Bibliography.
Wonderful! This brought back so many memories from the beach at the end of Tenaya Lake where I spent quite a bit of time between climbing sessions in 1981, a very warm summer. I went back there with my wife on our honeymoon 4 years later, both the climbing and the beach was still great. Congratulations on an amazing ascent!
Sick send! Even better watching as I sit here sore from the climbing gym all afternoon showing our 9 year old nephew the ropes. As always thanks for the inspiration!
Beautiful. Such a vulnerable moment when you shared that Tom and your song was timed to play as you clip the chains. Look forward to seeing y’all climb more together.
🗣️Bravo - this was beautiful.. I’m like, why do I want to cry right now? Why are my palms sweating? why is my heart racing? why am I so amped and relaxed? a lot of emotion packed into 8min - made my day
Simply beautiful!! Love your artistry with this kind of video. Love your voice. Love seeing you work hard and succeed. You're where you're meant to be. ❤
This isn't just a climbing video...this is poetry! You're my new fav poet, as long as my fav climber of course! 💪🏻😎 A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Also...shall we talk about those run outs? 😵💫 Sooo similar to those we have in La Spezia(my town in Italy). Keep being yourself ❤ thank you for being such an inspiration 🌻
Awesome video! Great job focusing on exactly what Tuolumne gives every climber. Funny that it was hard to tell if the hard breathing was you, Mary’s suspense while filming or my own hoping you’d stick the last crux 😂 Cheers
This video brought me to tears multiple times. Thank you for sharing your beautiful experience with us. I am in medical school and am feeling disconnected from many versions of myself - climber and adventurer included. Thank you for the visceral memories of my time in tuolumne and the flow and emotion in raw breathing during a climb. I always appreciate your vulnerability and the purposeful ways you share it to build community.
I am late to this video because I’ve been in Alaska (fyi, moose there are ginormous!) I happened to see Kauk, Long, and Bachar do the first free climb of Astroman in the 70s, and love seeing these classic climbs through a new generations eyes!
@@nickhenscheid369 hehe thanks 🥲 it definitely felt slippery. Luckily this one is well bolted (compared to what I'm used to) so I was never really scared about that.
I love that you can hear so clearly the power in your breathing. The mic set up is different to most videos. I've always thought breathing makes a big difference to staying as aerobic as much and as long as possible. Any words of wisdom? Do you deep breath before you begin? Do you deliberately max breathe / breathe as hard as possible to fight off the pump? Are you just breathing naturally and it's the effort driving, or is there a deliberate method in breath control?
Thank you :) the breathing is pretty intense in this one which I thought maybe had to do with the high elevation and endurance nature of the route? I find that if you just let yourself breathe without trying to shush it or control it, and give your body the air it’s asking for, you will have more stamina. It’s easy to forget to breathe through tough moves so I try to remember to keep it going especially on such a long climb like this one. Calming my breathing down on rests is also one of the most important things I try to do.
I saw Ron Kauk at my local crag once, although I didn't realize who it was at first. But, I could immediately see that he was a master. I swear, the dude was floating up the overhang like he was Jesus Christ himself.😅
Who knew that watching someone climb a rock on You Tube could be so emotional.
Do a search for Magnus Midtbo solo climbing with Alex Honnold. That'll take your emotions to some extreme places!

I was so lucky to have her dangling next to me the whole send 🥹

I also get self conscious that I breathe too intensely, I'm glad to see I'm not alone and to add power and beauty to it 🥲

my favourite part of the week is a new anna video

Thank you so much
Cool to see some of these classic climbs on video that I only knew from still photos in Climbing magazine.
Beautifully composed. This captures the soul of climbing in Tuolumne.
Thank you
The cuts to the breathing and the water in the beginning to your controlled breathing on the rock was a beautiful inclusion
Thank you for this video!!

Tuolumne is just the BEST. Thanks for depicting it so beautifully.

There she goes, conquering run-out slabs again.
Beautiful.

I actually love and adore everything about you, the most inspiring human, climber and just beautiful inside and out. Ouf thank you!
What a wonderful depiction of climbing, thank you Anna!
Wow, what a powerful film, thank you for sharing Anna.
This one is just absolutely beautiful! I in fact did some yoga/meditation to the narration of this. It’s so calm, and warm feeling. Amazing job Anna!❤
What a beautiful cut! Very well done, I loved watching it!

I love these poetic videos that give me psych and remind me why we punish ourselves on some rock ❤️ thank you!
Loved the video. Emotional and beautiful film connecting climbing and nature together 🩷🥺🙂

Wow, Anna! What an amazing film (and climb!) Incredible work. Tuolumne is so beautiful, I need to get back there for sure.
thank you for a beautiful film
So lovely to watch. I was at the gym this morning flailing round on giant holds. Oh to be like Anna 🤩😊
Today I got to rockclimb myself, watch Tradprincess' send of Necronomicon and then this send. Today was a good day.
Very beautiful and inspiring!! Congrats Anna
Beautiful piece Anna.

lovely
Really liked this AH.👌👌
such a beautiful video 💮
So beautiful, Anna.
There was some feisty breathing going on, the question is how much was exertion and how much was fear? Great send, congrats.
It was about 80 degrees out so it was mainly me just trying to hold on 😅
@@AnnaHazelnutt Sending this in 80 degrees is mad! That's gotta add 3 letter grades, at least 😝
@@nickhenscheid369 hehe thanks 🥲 it definitely felt slippery. Luckily this one is well bolted (compared to what I'm used to) so I was never really scared about that.
Good video Anna 🙂
awesome
Damn, I think Anna is in love..... in love with climbing. 🤧

It always amazes me how strong you are

When you imagine, that it is the camera woman breathing like this, the whole watching experience changes 😅.
