Nice video guys. I have a 50 cow dairy in central Illinois. I have ran New Holland loaders for the last 30 years. A couple years ago I kept my old L218 and bought a new L318. This was the first time that I didn't trade my old machine in. Keeping my old loader was one of the best things I've ever done. It is so nice having two loaders. I keep the new one out of the manure. Both machines are rated at 1800 lbs. Congratulations on your new machine. I know they are expensive, but they are awesome.
I went with a Kubota this spring mainly for the overhead door. I didn't want to be taking it on and off all the time. The price difference was definitely a factor too. People forget Bobcat used Kubota engines for many years before Doosan bought them out. I'm happy with mine so far. Would have bought a Bobcat if they had a overhead door and price was the same!
I always enjoy your commentary on why you purchased what you did. I am sure that this purchase will prove to have been a good one. Also, many of the comments from your subscribers are insightful.
2 is 1,one is none. Life motto to live by. Easier to have 2 or something incase one fails, then to rely on the one and only, just to have it fail when you need it the most.
Ride control is nice. What it does is open up a valve, and it introduces an accumulator to the circuit which is basically a big cushion. As you hit bumps, the oil is allowed to expand and contract within the accumulator, and the bucket will move. Now, as far as having to pay for and unlock the feature, I always thought that was a little ridiculous lol.
Ive always liked the Gehl skid steer 2 joysticks one for driving and one bucket very fun to operate . I used bobcats after farming working construction i could never fully get the hang of the foot controls lol
My bobcat is a little old 2004. But still runs good for me. Would be lost without it. I'm with you on the battery location. They are very hard to get in and out and you have to have small hands it seems. Good luck with your new one.
I know what you mean about keeping the handles/tools in the same place. We have in the past purchased cars from one particular brand, because the layout was similar or the same and when we test drove another brand, it felt uncomfortable and even unsafe. It does make a difference. Good luck with your skid steers and it is smart to have a backup. Enjoy!
A bit amazed you got hand/foot on a new one.............Pilots anyone can run. We always ran Gehl's and then switched to Cat when they brought out the A series, after standing on your head to work on things, the Cat's were amazing the way they had things laid out and easy to get to. I would have probably went back with a Gehl, but my wife liked the Cat...............Always laugh I bought Cat because it was easier to get to things to work on it, but we never really ever worked on them. Other than service, we had one bad battery cable, a few batteries, and that was it to this point.
Great Video again! I agree with your Dad. All the electronics in everything this day and time is a worry! They are making everything so it has to go back to the shop to be worked on. As you know getting parts right now is awful! I had a work truck out of commission for 6 weeks because the wheel hub assembly was on back order. I think your smart keeping both Bobcats. I don’t watch TV. But I sure watch Gierok Farms videos ! I feel like you’re Family! Thanks! WH Gaddy
I liked the Case, all hand controlled SSL's. My son in law has a Cat on tracks, and those controls are very similar, all hand. I'm not a good dancer, so foot controls are not always easy for me.😂
They're nice machines No matter what you do they're all gonna get dirty And yes the windows in the front they always break My Bobcat is old 1972 The old gas one But it works good In my New Holland I like that machine got Kaboda motor And I don't have all that electronic garbage But you have 2 nice machines there I keep both I like them Just stay safe and have a good day we'll catch you on the next one
Interesting to hear your thoughts. The boys used to work for my brother-in-laws brother. They had a couple New Holland skid steers. One got used for feeding the other got used for manure and clean up work. So your logic on use makes sense to me. They also had separate buckets for feed and manure work. I've leased a couple of Bobcats over the years. Never really ran competetive machines to gain much of an opinion.
Great video Like dad, I started with a 742. Then 753, 763, 185, 190, 590, and just agreed to a 66 today All Bobcat, and all foot controls - muscle memory! I did switch from a wheeled 763 to the tracks at the 190 upgrade. I’ll get my T66 at the end of the week. Your video confirms the rumors I’ve heard regarding the “delay” from the electronics. I’m hoping I can adjust quickly. Thanks for sharing
I run a 570 everyday loading bales. The unit is really good I would not be happy with the control not being positive working in tight areas. The old system is really good loading in tight spaces. Mine has forks no bucket. The 570 is a good unit
I farm too, I'm thinking of updating. Bobcats have one of the cleanest engine compartments, easy to work on and not many little wires and hoses going here and there and every where! Probably going to keep my high hour skid and get an articulated loader. Time to start treating myself better. Change is hard, like when I went from a flip phone to a smartphone, I don't regret it!
We have a s76r that is 2 years old. Has 1850 hrs on it. It has hand controls. We have it for scraping in the freestall barn. Parts can be a issue as ours has been on the shop 3 times. I was headgasket at 700 hours. Then this year it would has been in the shop twice. Last was for drive motors on it as one went bad. Was in the shop for 2 weeks. Hope you have better luck.
My brother has a new Holland L328 with bigger tires and it out preforms the LX 985 big time I give the biggest tires a lot of the credit As for me I run a 65 hp MFD tractor with a loader, way more economical , lot less maintenance and very little fuel I fixed up my own design to change attachments without leaving the seat
I've got a 642B and I loved it until I had to replace the engine! The replacement is a Kohler air cooled 37 horse and is so touchy on the governor that it makes it hard to operate smoothly!
We have a S66 as well but I loved the s 590 and 185 that we have had. I like the s66 but the electric over hydraulic is such a pain in my opinion. We have are setting for hydraulic all the way down because it goes so darn fast. But I guess it takes time to get use to. There is a button behind the back rest of the seat for a heated seat for when it is-40 degrees Fahrenheit. On the s 66.
The dairy I help out on tried to order another Bobcat last fall. At first they were told it would be January then April and then basically never. So they bought a Kubota. I do not like the Kubota. Its control's are stiff and squirrelly. I also don't like that it doesn't have fenders so the wheels splatter cow poo all over the windows making it hard to see down low in tight quarters. I love the old 773 at my full time job at the horse stable. Hand and foot controls heat and AC. I put a lot of hours running a snow blower.
very interesting video hope to see more of how it works for you . I just ordered an s66 a couple months ago still waiting trading an s595 still have my s205 . I think its my 12th bobcat started with bobcat 610 in 1984 . I also have foot controls hoping that new system is better my s595 the pedals build up under with materials falling off work boots had to wash under petals weekly not fun when minus 20 in the winter. I like you like to have the door off in the summer for better visability .
We have a s64 2500hrs been really good but it was hard to see if you have an extra fan kit on your airfilter to suck some dirt out. We farm also and in the dry weather the airfilter got really dirty in a very little amount of time. And put the fan kit on and it really helped alot.
We have had hand and foot controls, starting in 1979 with a New Holland. We were New Holland until 2018 when we bought our first Deere. It it all hand controls, once you get used to it you would never go back to hand and foot controls. Hand controls are so much faster, less fatigue after a long day or running. We demoed a new Bobcat in the nineties and again in the 2000's and we were not impressed. No room to work on them. Servicing other models is much easier, side panels come off and the cab can be lifted with one finger..
We just traded skid steer’s last fall. We were bobcat through and through, over the years I think we had 6 or 7 of them through the years. This time though we ended up going with a Kubota SS65. So far we super impressed with the machine! Best of luck with your new Bobcat!
My uncle’s started out with case then went to international. Which were hydro-magic then back to case . Now they have all GEHL .The city of Beaver Dam has had bobcat for 20 years, and has now switched to John Deere. Have also operated CAT.
I see you can still get it in hand and foot controls, we ran bobcats where I worked but we have track machines since dirt work is what they do. And when explaining what machines you have own I would say you had a s185.
I completely agree with you about how much electronics they put on machines. I really dont like electric over hydraulics at all. Machinery could be so much simpler and cheaper.
The most important factor is how close and good is the dealer. All machinery will break at some point in time. Is the dealer competent and are parts available. All of the skid steer manufacturers have good features. Personally, from my experience Cat has the competition beat hands down.
I first drove a Bobcat in 1976 and I have always liked the Bobcat brand. I would not pay for the ride control as these machines are expensive enough already.
That's the thing, though. If the machine is already equipped with ride control, you HAVE already paid for it! They didn't put those extra parts on there free of charge! They were figured into the cost of the machine! Now, they tell you that you have to pay extra to use something that you've already paid for? Not me! I would have walked out!
I think near the first part they mentioned that the door for the old one was being stored because he had removed it because he didn't like using it. Said if they ever sold it, it would go with a new door. He thought it would help to keep the new one cleaner, but thought if it was operated a lot, it might get broken because it seemed to be in the way a bit.
Have you called the dealer for the brake not holding? If you take the door off no heat or a/c but then you are tough and hardy northerners. 2 is always better than one.
2 s alwys bettr than 1, especially if 1 needs work. They both get dirty quick in engine area. Cleang wth blwr/pressure washr evryothr month. Oh, don't forget filters&fluids too
Jcb is garbage. Demod 2ts dealer had to come out 3 times for hydraulic leaks. Cab is a rattle box. Tracks still have single ider wheels. All other brands have triple flange rollers so your not riding on steel inbed of tracks. Vibration is insane. Jcb . Junk coming from Britain
Look up Bobcat T7X and S7X. I dont know when they will be for public sale but they've had the all-electric version for over a year now (just not for sale)
Maybe they were just saying that anyone out there who did have one could give them an idea about the reason they preferred one over another. I know nothing about skid steers either, but am interested in how things work. I think it is a good thing for them to have another one because they are constantly using the old one and things can wear out or you can't always get new parts easily.
If it’s in the finance of your farming I’d suggest keeping both skid loaders that way if one decides to give you issues you have a backup skid loader
Nice video guys. I have a 50 cow dairy in central Illinois. I have ran New Holland loaders for the last 30 years. A couple years ago I kept my old L218 and bought a new L318. I have a T 650 bobcat with hand and foot controls ,air conditioning in the cab its main job is 12 bale grapple, wonderful machine
I run without a door year-round in SW Wisconsin on my CASE 1845C. The door is such a hassle for the reasons you mentioned.

Turkey barns near Rothsay, MN where I was born and raised! Keller Brothers made machine for Velo Turkey Farms.

Do you guys sell those hats? I'd love to buy one!
I run two of the s570 skid steers a 2014 and a 2016
I’m an old Case guy so I like the hand controls. I too hate the creeping the new ones have.
I work for New Holland company and still have a bobcat 👍

I've ran Case, Deere, JCB, Bobcat and CAT. By far, Cat is my favorite hands down!!!
Have to tell you we have a bobcat 863 we in 1998 it has over 15000 hours and third engine and we won't trade for the world
We got an s570 too and a s64

Hey guys how did you like the s570? I'm about to buy a used s550 which is a similar machine but different lift path.
was buying " Made in America " considered in the new skid steer purchase?
Did you try a track machine?
Why don‘t you have a look at the skidsteers from Kubota?

Sounds like a toy.
