Very brave of you Ben. Putting yourself in the spotlight has highlighted your inexperience, but so many people will watch this and think “that’s me and my dog”. We all had to start from this point and although you have made mistakes you have many positives. And you have done the right thing in seeking good advice. If you follow Charlie’s instructions you will improve Narla and you will learn loads yourself. Good luck with your dog buddy.
Ben has made a great decision in asking for coaching, learning what to do is important but learning what not to do is more important. I’m sure with Charlie’s help he’ll make excellent progress, perhaps there could be a follow up video later on showing Bens progress. Just my opinion.

A special shout to Ben for agreeing to be filmed, an ordeal I suspect that I would try to avoid but which makes these videos so very very helpful. I really cannot get enough of these videos. I now watch them and take notes as your ‘information stream’ sometimes overwhelms my elderly brain 😂

Great advice about how to build up the retrieve! After another of your videos about retrieving (I believe it was about Harris’ problems with retrieving), I realised I was going to fast practising retrieving with my young dog. She has the talent (carries things all the time, brings me her stuff and never damaged a ball or dummy), but not so much the drive. I made it more of a fun game and figured out she’ll bring her dummy back without messing about if I move away from her. As long as she enjoys it, I’m happy with any level.

Just after some advise i have a show cocker spaniel puppy and wonder what age do you start on the lead training we want to use a slip lead but not sure what age is best to start this ?
@@shelleypatterson4397 as soon as possible if you have the room to put it on a lead at home then great at 8 weeks if not wait until they have had their vaccinations and straight on the lead. Don’t compare a show cocker to a working cocker 2 totally different strains and temperament.
@ start with a morris minor not a Ferrari then. But you obviously agree with my comments. Correct me if I’m wrong, sometimes the truth is better said rather than prolonging the inevitable.

Would love to see insight on to developing the first steady retrieve. Hold the dog? Toss. Send? How far? A break down of this would be 👍

My new sighthound puppy (saluki) is coming home soon!! Can't wait to train her!!
Good luck with it. You will probably find it a completely different kettle of fish to train compared to a gundog breed.

Are her hips ok? Both her walking but particularly her sitting (uneven) looks a bit odd.
Was wondering the same thing, she's really swaying her hips a lot. I would have them checked out.

Needs to work on the sit more Charlie , he’s put the dog in the sit a few times and the. Dog keeps standing up and moving about.
Sorry but the guy hasn’t got a clue about his dog. There appears to be no bond in any way shape or form.

Charlie is not expecting owners to be knowledgable about how to engage with their dog.
