Here fishy fishy fishy. Hope it helps! Hardest thing to find for me was fish line when searching around. Sheds, garages and workshops seemed to spawn a little more fishing loot. Also check kitchens.
With regards to the cooking, it will always be "poorly cooked" unless you add salt and pepper. one or the other will be something between "excellently cooked" and "poorly cooked". it gives a little more nutrition also. Since salt and pepper is so easy to find (kitchen areas in houses), keep some in your stash somewhere
Thank you for adding this tip. That was an aspect that still confused me. I did hear that if you add all the ingredients to recipes in a cook books once, you don't need the cook book for that specific recipe after that. Hope that's true. Testing this out with this playthrough. Do you need to cook right until 0:00 or just into green?
To remember it where you don’t need a recipe book to cook something you need to cook it perfectly, 5 out of 5. You need all ingredients ideally in 50% or better. I hit the finish button when it’s on 5 seconds left. You can finish it earlier but you risk it being undercooked and not as nutritious.
Thank you for clarifying for others. I have tested this out since the recording of this video and yes if you have a cook book and make a recipe with ALL the ingredients once, you will not need the cook book for that recipe again. Pretty cool! Although do be careful because many of the recipes will be very fatty! You may want to cook it again without the oil, butter, etc so it's just nutritions. But at least you don't need the cook book anymore for it. For the other recipes that you haven't cooked with all the ingredients you will still need the cook book. Happy cooking everyone!
Bout to get started with fishing because everyone on my team is always under fed, lacking vitamin D, protein and getting infections lmao. Thanks for the tutorial!

Wow that's been a while for you then. Good luck! One thing I noticed after an update since video was released was that if you reel the fish in and just when it gets to the shore the line snaps. This may mean you are to far off the water and the fish gets stuck and snaps the line. Just get closer to the water and hopefully you can then fully real it in. Took a while to figure out that I was standing on a slightly to high of a bank (C3 lake). Doesn't look high but it was a little. Got closer to the water and had no problems after that.
You just need the cook book in the vicinity(your inventory or on the ground) then you'll have more options for recipes. You'll see. Then cooking is the same process but you may need a pot, pan and some type of cooking surface like a improvised grill, stove etc to put it all on. Some need the oven portion of a stove like casseroles etc. Stove top needs gas to work, oven needs electricity so there are quite a bit more items to find like a propane tank or a generator. Each has a vicinity circle so you don't have to hook them up directly to the cooking appliance. Hope this helps.
I haven't played very much since the last big update. Did they change the crafting since then? I noticed you haven't really checked out the item requirements in the crafting menu. That used to show what it could use and the required amount. The item health % never made much of a difference then. Also ( you probably did this on purpose too for educational purposes), I noticed you kept walking backwards to get the "bad item" out of reach for the craft system. Can't we just click on the item in the menu, outlined in red, and have it use the selected item instead?
When I made this video it was version 0.9. I've played since the 0.95 update and the crafting menu has changed slightly but still shows the variety of different items you can use to craft it. What has changed occasionally is the number of measurment that is needed of each resource to create the craftable item. For example if you use wire that has 3/10 or 9/10. This would number refer to it being (x) out of a measurment type(inches, feet, yards). For fluid it'll be volume. I mistakenly called this "condition" when I made this video and I think that is creating some confusion. I don't actually know if the little condition bar on an item makes a different yet. I meant what is left of the measurement of the resources. Also the different variety of a type of resources seemed only important when crafting very specific items. Like the fishing rod. But not the reel, float or hook. I included the different resources only for the one that it actually matters. The rest of the crafable items it didn't make any difference at the time of recording. That may have changed now with the updates since I released the video. Yes I believe you're correct that you can select and deselect the items you want to use to craft at this time. I specifically did that in the video to show that when crafting the game may highlight items in the vicinity and you may not realize it. There has been updates where the selecting mechanism doesn't work. It becomes very frustrating to figure out. My hope is that if I show that vicinity makes a difference. If there is an element that you are having problem with crafting that it could be as simple as what the game is grabbing around you instead. If you try again by taking a few steps to an area that has no other options then it might actually work. It's how I problem solve a crafting issues that pop up. Hope that makes sense.
I hope you ended up doing it right. That's why I added chapters in the description (How to fish successfully 14:53) so anyone can skip the parts they don't need to watch.
“As you know I’m going to begin to start to discuss a lesson in the topic of how to fish well start by going over then we’ll get into….” My good god sir get to the point. Don’t tell me what you’re going to tell me. Just tell me.

Cooking was very helpful. Still not sure how to use cookbooks. Any advice?

I really just want the water to look like this on my computer. I love scum , but the optimization hurts my brain
