It is positively criminal that the BBC doesn't give this man his own show. This is far more enjoyable than most docu-series. This is coming from a young lady & lover of the theater. I hope to someday travel to the UK (I am in the USA) but until then thanks Joolz for giving me a small but valuable taste of London.
just stumbled on this wee gem! so great to have this channel especially now that many places in and around London are closed to the public due to covid.
i know Im randomly asking but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot my login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.
What a very charming and unassuming chap the curator was. I walked past Charterhouse a few weeks ago and said to myself, I need to look up its history. So thanks Joolz, as your video has enlightened me.
What a video! I have been history fan for 40 years and this video was vwry interesting with lot of new info and ideas. Did you know that Hercule Poirot had a flat in same square in " Agatha Christie's Poirot ". It is one of my favourite TV-series. I hope moore of this kind videos coming soon. Greetings from Finland, Joolz !
I can't believe how many people are mentioning Poirot. I decided to edit it out to save time but I should have left it in. I didn't think anyone would care but I was wrong!
Joolz Guides - London History Walks - Travel Films David Suchet/Poirot related to Rotherhithe photographer Jarché. Not seen your tour yet so maybe you know. My family Soper, many generations of Rotherhitians🤔 I still have original sepia photo of my mum & her brother 1922ish by Jarché. LOVE your Tours! I'm Islingtonian & wish I could afford to employ you full time! 😂.
I stumbled upon this channel a few days ago and I must admit that watching Joolz Guide is very informative and is far more enjoyable than watching BBC documentaries. Keep it up Sir
Joolz, I love your videos and would love to tour London with you sometime in the future. I play the tenor recorder in a quintet. Do you have a tour of medieval or renaissance music and dancing locations? That would be very interesting, musical shops, houses of composers, etc!!
Back to your usual excellence Joolz. Oddly, I've been researching The Charterhouse for my next trip to London in May! It was mentioned on T.V. last week - doubly. or is it triply spooky?
I saw that too. Those trendy young historians with tattoos. I enjoyed it. They got to visit some cool places. If only I could gain that access. Oh well...they never called me although I did wait by the phone.
Very interesting. Last time I went to London I went to this exact spot but had no idea about this Charterhouse. I only went there because I wanted to see the place where Hercule Poirot lived in the TV series. Next time I have to check out this Charterhouse too.
I was going to mention that but I edited it out. I didn't know so many people were fans! It's one of many art deco buildings they used around London. I mention one in my Highgate video too.
Joolz Guides - London History Walks - Travel Films i think a lot more people are fans than you expect. The TV show is still shown all over the world on reruns every day.
Amazing!! Queen Elizabeth held court in that room and the throwing exception in soccer all in the same building!! I absolutely love this guys tour videos!!
Actually London has awesome modern architechture. If it's owned by a big enough company, they realise that the building has to be a statement if it's going in London. But yeah, there are some ugly tower blocks and office blocks, a disgusting Novotel on the river...
Starting at 4:28 when you are going through the door into the monks hallway with the original stonework.. If you look back there is someone standing there not moving with an odd pose and then moves weirdly into the wall instead of the door... Maybe I'm seeing things but it looks like a ghost to me.. Hmmmm... Great video!
Amazing. I had never heard of Charterhouse until recently but a group of us visited it last Thursday and I had just finished uploading some pictures to our website when up pops your video. Very helpful as it fills in some of the details I missed while snapping!
Hey Joolz 🤗 I have a video request🤚 I would love to know more about London’s Youth subcultures like the mods punks and their connection to the city. I would be very delighted if you would touch on that topic!:) Kind regards
My only experiences of Charter House Square were visiting the London offices of Cobra Beer there, as a contractor, and being sent away with free bottles, trying to stop them from clanking together in the bag while on the tube. Very good it was too!

How is it that this guy has not been given his own docu-series by the BBC??? He's knowledgeable and witty which makes him perfect for TV.
I quite agree.....
Gosh am I glad I stumbled upon this channel. A real gem!
Agreed. Its woundefuly informative and upbeat. I subbed.
it is!

Great video. Who’s the ghost at 5.14 in the back ground!
Definitely one of the best historical jaunts round London with the wonderful Joolz,
Really good stuff. Behind you and to the left at 2:04 is the block of flats ITV used as the outside of Poirot's flat.
I didn't know he had so many fans but he obvioulsy does!
Thanks so much Joolz!! I really enjoyed this one. I love British history and rally love the way you guide us through it!

Oh, they will ask Joolz, but by then I hope you will be too successful to be bothered very much.@@Joolzguides
Once I stumbled on these, I had to binge watch. They are so amusing. Thanks for doing this!
Great video and it looks like a wonderful place to visit.

My gran was a house keeper there (or similar) and my step grandfather was handyman.
This was during the '70's.
Hugely interesting and very entertaining thanks to two excellent guides. Many thanks.

........"he was hung, drawn & quartered!" Great videos Jools of my home town! many many thanks.
Amazing!! Queen Elizabeth held court in that room and the throwing exception in soccer all in the same building!! I absolutely love this guys tour videos!!
Sadly, it's typical of London to have such amazing old sites surrounded by (mostly) ugly new buildings. But an astonishing place, fascinating, Joolz!
Actually London has awesome modern architechture. If it's owned by a big enough company, they realise that the building has to be a statement if it's going in London. But yeah, there are some ugly tower blocks and office blocks, a disgusting Novotel on the river...

I have a video request🤚
I would love to know more about London’s Youth subcultures like the mods punks and their connection to the city.
I would be very delighted if you would touch on that topic!:)
Kind regards
Thanks :) Well, as you know, I'm totally down with the kids! I think that would require a bit of research first.
i just love how tall you are julien!!!
Everyone else is just small.
I find the Charter House quite interesting, and this is easily my favorite short film about it.
Thanks for the vid, dude.
I would love to see this place on my next visit!
Oooh-- I shall seek it out in the summer...
It would be nice to make a video about Hampton Court too.
My only experiences of Charter House Square were visiting the London offices of Cobra Beer there, as a contractor, and being sent away with free bottles, trying to stop them from clanking together in the bag while on the tube. Very good it was too!
Watching lots of Joolz today. Really enjoyed the little man from the Charterhouse. I suppose he looks little next to Joolz 😃
Hermetically sealed monk?!? Julius, you are one of my favorite citizens of the Nation of Pedantry!
Fascinating, as always. Thanks, Joolz. Getting lit up now. Happy Sunday!
5.18 creepy bugger in the background...
I am sad that Barts and The London was not mentioned!
