there has to be a short on the system somewhere. As a test, disconnect it at the pegs over night. If confirmed, put a dedicated pony box with a bar switch shutoff, between the battery and the tractor.
Through vibration or sulphite build up it can cause the lead plates inside to break, weakening the battery. Can also allow the materials to build up and create internal shorts within the battery.
Had issues with a similar battery, tester showed 13.5 volts and green light on battery tester. Mechanic had a 60 dollar tester from Canadian Tire that shows voltage and cranking amps it showed 13.5 volts but next to no cranking amps dead cell. Needless to say I bought same tester
I had trouble on my 6620 combine.... ended up with a twisted off stud on the starter solenoid goofy battery cables and one bad battery. It was frustrating not finding a smoking gun on it but now it starts 100% better. Now I'm working on my IH 1086 tractor it has marginal cables so I'll probably do something with them yet. Where did the rope in the mixer come from? That would have been a mess to deal with without the grain vac. That Cockshutt looks cool. What size is it?
That Cockshutt is a 1950, got a fresh coat of paint couple years ago. Had some hydraulic/pto issues that cost more then the tractor was worth to figure out and fix. But what a handy tool for the grain augers
Ouch, I know that the hydraulics on those Cockshutt Oliver's are a bugger to diagnose, but in the end I'm glad it worked out. That one must have the detroit diesel in it from the sound. Also I'm glad I'm not the only one who wanders around with ear plugs in for most of the day🤣🤣

I’ve fed lots of light grain, it’s fine, you just feed more of it. Light barley is still better than most hay. Usually your protein is better in light grain.
@@jeremycherny2041 use to feed lots of brome and fescue aftermath. It was good stuff cause them seed guys fertilize so heavily. Dead cell in a battery, with always drain the rest. And any other batteries in the system. As soon as the alternator starts, it should be putting out 13.8-14 volts.. clean terminal connections help too. Good luck!!

The reason why lead acid doesn't last long is because of the "double sulfation" in the discharged state. Tying together six 2.2V cells doesn't help either without a battery management system. That is why a lead acid maintainer is so needful. Chemistry like LiFePo4 do a lot better at lower cell voltages over a long period of time. Hope this helps.
@chadtosh6831 we have hoses go too. When one goes, I try and do his friend at the same time to eliminate having to do it in a month. So that theory has helped my time management, lol.
@@jeremycherny2041 so many hoses around here. Plus john Deere likes to use single braid hydraulic hoses on their new stuff. About ready to crack and replace every hose on this new discbine. Junk.
Battery isolator?
Ended up being bad battery

I guess a bad battery sucks power when connected to other batteries. We need better data from batteries - should be easy to do.
Seem to only get 3-4 years out of a set of batteries anymore
Good evening Robin
You’re up late yet Ed. Dang near tomorrow here already.

I tried one winter boiling a battery with a welder because of those reasons. Didn’t have any luck though

For sure, need to understand as much as possible around feed

I’m going be doing some feed samples this year all types of straw and hay and a few grain samples too
@chadtosh6831 they did a protein test on this brome before the rain and it was 13% pro. He said his hay this year is 9%.

I’m guessing u have a dead short while it’s not in use

I know if one battery on a 2 battery system is no good it will suck down the good battery real quick when it's not being charged
We are always chasing one bad battery
