Indeed, just got the same car and I'm not mastering heel and toe like this driver. I think that's what happened at 3:41, locked rear wheels while downshifting. I will take it easy there with my Elise !!

very nice lap! I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the revalved nitrons. I have a set of single adjustable nitrons on my s1 and they are really hard. can you recommend the revalving you did over a revalving from nitron?

My Elise '99 is similar spec'ed: Rover 1.8 Sabre head, 135 cams, Emerald wideband (160 HP), Nitron Street and Pagids. I douubt, I could do same laptime. Nice driving.
Guys, with all respect to the different comments, let me tell you that I have the opportunity to drive with Gabriele in my race car. He is one FAST guy, period. There is no fake whatsoever!!!

+Skyline yeah, also the overtake was not very good but I did not realise he was that slow and could not stop in time. Long time ago tho, this is just the baseline lap, more to come ;)

So you hinted that you destroyed the original engine. Was it just repaired or did you swap it for something else? Like a K20 :D
+E Channel repaired. Bottom end was fucked and got fixed. We considered swapping to a K20 but the budget was over triple the repair. Also, sub-8 with K20 was just not even a challenge, so we did stick with the Rover.
+Gabriele Piana I myself have a Toyota powered Elise and like the fact that you have to rev the shit out of it if you want to go anywhere. On the street it feels slow but on the track it is more than sufficent and the car is so more capable than I am. I can imagine a K20 to have a similar character.
I heard the rover has more fruity bottom end. I drove a Rover MK2 once and found the gearbox to be an offence.

Great driving in any way, but the video is fast forwarded pretty obviously. the movement of the hands when shifting is way too fast, especially when he has to do the corrections at Kallenhardt. also at 6:21 you can see it on the movement of the piece of paper at the passengers floor. honestly, very nice lap, but why the heck this cheating?
The start seems to be in original speed but as soon as he drives under the bridge, the video speed has been accelerated.
+passion:driving We would everything you can imagine BUT fake lap times or fast forward a video. For final lap times there will be added telemetry data for those few questioning results but -although we don't like to admit- Gab is just plain good behind the wheel. What you see is normal speed...

+OneLapHeroes I really don't want to question his driving skills. You can clearly tell from the video, that he is an brutally fast driver. But it's somehow strange. Watched it on my TV yesterday using chromecast where the video looks really chopped and FFed. However on my PC in the browser it just looks smooth and right.. Really strange. Great driving anyways and interesting challenge to watch. Need a lot of training before I'm able to thrash my Elise as fas around there as he does!
