Oh man I love this guy, it's almost painful how much. What he means to this country, the whole Miracle Team, their coach, the effect they all had on us. A big beautiful miracle!
@okpapereat Actually he went to the Boston Bruins too, but he had a car accent where he killed a woman, and was never the same after that. He started drinking to deal with the death of his mom, and allegedly, was drunk when he crossed the center line and killed a woman. Being an Olympic hero, and it being 1982, police supposedly looked the other way. Not hard to believe because it was a different time back then, and Craig was a huge hero in Boston. That was before DUI's were big business.
That Tommy boy must have been watching too much Mighty Ducks to take for fiction a movie based on real life. But that was a fantastic punchline, "Can you imagine if that happened in real life?" And Jim is probably like, "I don't imagine if it happened. I lived through this happening."
i think jim craig was lucky, he was great beating the soviets but did not have an good nhl career! look very week with the atlanta flames then sent back down to the minors.
You don't hold the soviet union to only 3 goals the entire game with just luck. Especially considering how young he was compared to the team who smashed the NHL all stars.
I was a fan of the Springfield AHL team then and as a Bruin he was sent to AHL and thought he was too good for Springfield. When it hit the press what he thought of being sent to Springfield Bruins then farm team and he finally did play in Springfield he was resoundingly booed.

i love how he said it wasn't a miracle, it was hard work
It was a horrible Narcissistic new Russian coach.

I would like to know where the American flag is that Jim Craig wore as a cap after beating USSR in the 1980 winter Olympics
Actually the Soviets had 42 shots and Craig made 39 saves.

@@dennis6842 But nothing can take away what he did in 1980. Nothing.
