This is so true, it is actually very sad. I am in my early 50s and remember back in the day (like 20 years ago), it absolutely used to be the case that maybe out of 10 people you deal with on dating websites, maybe 1 or 2 are potential scammers or there for ulterior motives. Nowadays, in my experience on this particular dating app (Tantan), over 60 to 70% of the members I matched with fall into one of these categories: - looking for investors in some Cryptocurrency or another Money making scheme - looking for someone to join some kind of business activity - looking for followers on Instagram or other Social Media platforms - other potential scams or reasons that have nothing to do with making friends or dating. It seems to have got so bad that when I told a matched member that I was not interested in anything financial and just wanted friends or dating, and persistently refused any interest in joining her scheme (assuming it's a woman and not a man using a fake lady profile), she verbally attacked, calling me ugly and stated why else will anyone want to contact or match with me except do some business? It is just sad about the state of dating apps and dating online is. You cannot even trust that the average person on the app is there for what the app was intended for! God help us all.
ONe of my employees, 40, retired from 20 years in the Marine Corp, is like this as well. He'd never driven a lawnmower, he can't do things around the house, and he married a woman older than him. I was in a medium size supermarket earlier - a Lidl - and it wasn't that busy. I saw a couple of men, mid 20s, tall, reasonably good looking, a bit skinny, well dressed in casual clothes. There were two years in my life that were really bad. Nowadays, in my experience on this particular dating app (Tantan), over 60 to 70% of the members I matched with fall into one of these categories:
- looking for investors in some Cryptocurrency or another Money making scheme
- looking for someone to join some kind of business activity
- looking for followers on Instagram or other Social Media platforms
- other potential scams or reasons that have nothing to do with making friends or dating.
It seems to have got so bad that when I told a matched member that I was not interested in anything financial and just wanted friends or dating, and persistently refused any interest in joining her scheme (assuming it's a woman and not a man using a fake lady profile), she verbally attacked, calling me ugly and stated why else will anyone want to contact or match with me except do some business?

I was in a medium size supermarket earlier - a Lidl - and it wasn't that busy. I saw a couple of men, mid 20s, tall, reasonably good looking, a bit skinny, well dressed in casual clothes. They both had straggly beards that TBH I'd shave off if I couldn't grow it well. Both were much taller than me. One aisle was narrowed with a pallet of stock in the way. One of these much bigger men gave way, but not in the masculine way that masculine men do and acknowledge each other. The other did the same. A few minutes later I saw them both again talking with their girlfriends, very pretty slim women their age. It was like looking at four women talk with each other. Those are the 'men' that women date these days.

There were two years in my life that were really bad. One year I was married to a gold digger who I never should have married (who became very hostile when she realized my lifestyle wasn't what she apparently expected). Another year where I moved to a small town for a difficult and dangerous job, ended up living in a dangerous area, was on-call around the clock (once had to work a 30-hour shift, except for a 1.5 hour nap in the back of a van).
