Vision and Stitch. Can’t argue with those choices. Excellent. Where would the QC Drift Ti go on your list? Man. That always ends up as my favorite. The materials, action, blade shape, etc. so good.
Vision FG ranking is right in line with my own experience. I love that knife so much more than I ever expected to. Price to coolness ratio just outstanding. The video format is nice and this was very fun to watch.
It's honestly amazing how nice that knife is. Like, I know there's no such thing as a "perfect" knife, but the vision FG gets pretty damn close; it completely disrupted my EDC rotation because it's so versatile and useful that I always wanna carry it. I liked it so much that I even bought the knifecenter exclusive with carbon fiber scales and an s35vn blade. All things considered, the standard vision FG is probably still better bang for your buck, but I'm not one to turn down a super steel upgrade, lol.
Love this format… it’s quick easy and simple… here’s a few categories I’d love to see in the future Best bang for buck Most unique Small knives Knife shapes and what their used for
Hey who is the guy in the bottom right corner?? What's up MC!!!!! Great video and I think I like the corner camera less distracting from the content. Agree with the choices and know its hard (especially now with flood of all the different makers) It was interesting that the Ontario R1 R2 came up later as 5-6 years ago this was one of the top picks in EDC folders and we have come a long way. I was going to mention a few I thought were missing but It is not fair since so many to narrow down. Great job and I think I'm liking this new format.
The Para 3 should have been S tier no questions asked! Your entire praise about it over the years as a tool is why I bought my Maxamet variant and it's arguably still one of the best and most carryable EDC's Spyderco makes. I feel attacked and personally offended! 😂 Just teasing Complex thanks for the upload
Yeah agree, has to be! The para 3 seems to be a major turning point in edc, can’t explain why exactly So does the bugout And the sebenza Think that’s all :)
I think this format would be very well suited for more specific uses/categories like you said. Best flippers, frame locks, side opening autos, OTFs. I like it, good video MC.👍
Much of the hobbyist industry does tier list videos, very popular. Definitely need to do tier list by each brand, or various categories like you mentioned!
Love this format. Do more!!! I find it interesting from the standpoint of some of these blades being in my collection but also past knives that I’ve owned. Also gives ideas to some I hadn’t thought of in this way. Perhaps also do in segments of class of blades. Fixed, OTF, OTS, button lock etc. maybe do as a group chat and compare lists????? Highly interactive and interesting bro. You’ve turned me on to a ton of WE knives also.
That was fun! I generally agree with this but personally I would put the PM2 in the legend tier, and the Praetorian in at least the glad it exists tier. No, I don’t carry it much but it’s an amazing hunk of steel.
This was awesome, MC! There are so many possible tier lists that myself, and I’m sure others, would love to see. Budget tier list, all Civivi, under $200, all Microtech, custom, your current collection, etc. Thank you for the consistent and quality content!
I like the idea of this video… however, unless we are super familiar with each knife as you are it makes it a little hard to follow along. I understand you can only do so much with the little snapshots. Hmm.. maybe provide a link on screen of your more in depth review of mentioned blades? That way we can go back and forth to truly understand your ratings or tiers!? Plus maybe you get a boost in views on some of your older videos?
The truth is that the vast majority of people just know what I'm referencing. Yes it would make it easier for a few people. It just creates a lot of extra work on my end. I'll see what I can do in future uploads
Maybe even if you just cut in a quick full size clip before you placed it in your ranking? Not complaining at all, I love your stuff. Just trying to help. I have absolutely no idea of all the work that goes into creating RUclips videos
Liked the format of the video. Definitely some potential for future content with brand specific or use specific format. Really good thought provoking stuff.
I thought this turned out great and has taken your content to the next level. 5 stars!!! edit: I would have loved to seen you add the Kunwu Padre to this then you may of had a Chinese in Legend or Huge Win.
This "experimental" format works. Having you on screen is a win, it makes the vibe more personable. You don't necessarily have to do every single one like this, but it's a welcome addition to the "Metal Complex Corpus."
The next tier list you do should be one where the knives are rated in a comparable price category. $0-$100, $101-$200, and so on. Great video, thanks for all of the hard work and it's great to see your face finally!
A tier list for useful blade shapes as an EDC as well as a tier list for budget companies/OEM's would be awesome because of the plethora of excellent brands that exist in this realm currently (Civivi/Sencut, Petrified Fish, CJRB, Trivisa, QSP, Sitivien, Kershaw, Vosteed, etc.)
Let’s just say this video format is a Huge W. More of this content please. I would love to see you do this button locks. The new pivot button locks are going to be the trend for awhile, so let’s see where the current stuff ranks!
Just picked up a kershaw iridium and a method really like them both but for a daily beater that you can just love and not worry about I don’t think you can beat the elementum button lock. It’s a little bigger than the original elementum and the button lock keeps the fingers safe at work while you’re trying to use it safely AND in a hurry lol the civivi badlands vegabond is a fun knife too with flipper tab and thumb studs for opening.
I liked the video and think a knife steel tier list in this format would be awesome. Maybe even separate edc/folder steel and fixed blade steel videos. I’d like to see text instead of cropped thumbnails here to make it easier to track and compare visually throughout the video. Even as a long time viewer I can’t look at all these images and easily see what is what. It would also be really nice to have the timestamps in videos like this to use for easy reference later. Looking forward to more tier lists!
I really liked the video and format. I do think an additional sentence or so on context for your choices would go a long way. “Even though there are better EDC options at the price today, the Kershaw Blur was an important entry point into the knife world for many people over the years” ….etc
I have a probably permanent scar on my hand from being dumb with my Vision FG, and it's still one of my all-time favorites. Absolutely a legend-tier knife, probably the best sub $100 pick I've ever had.
I really like the graphed out ranking videos. I know you’ve done similar videos in the past, but it would be cool to see a series of videos like these with different ranking parameters. Maybe a lock strength video, a best/most convenient to carry, blade shape, etc.
Constructively, I would put the lightning OTF and the Boker Kalashnikov in the same tier. They both have been kinda cheaper mainstay autos if you will. The lightning also has way better knives/other offerings in its same class of knives just like the Boker. The guardian tactical and ultratech for example, and heretic. I don’t know if I would put them both at glad they exist or a lower tier, but they have both been a flagship budget auto option in the knife world so in my personal list, no matter what tier they were at, they would both have to be at the same level. I still have both knives, but I haven’t carried either one in long time, except for the the Boker I use in house/yard work and the lightning I’ll sometimes use to open the mail lol. On another front, major kudos for including the ZT 0562 up there. It may be controversial, but I borderline include that one in my highest tier because of how much it got me into the knife world and how much I still carry it as a nicer “beater” if you will. Cheers, I like the format a lot. Maybe include some more finite reasons/sticking points that you standardize the ranking by, for example: “so and so knife wins out over these other knives due to several factors being how much you currently carry it, value, ergos, aesthetics, materials, knife history/influence in the knife world/popularity, personal/sentimental value, etc. You do that already for the most part verbally, but maybe like just more formally organize/list the rational why or something like that for every knife so we can see a little more standardization if that makes sense? I’m just a more visual person I guess with aspects of categorizing the knives specifically with rational lol. Love it dude
Fantastic format and time given explaining your thoughts on each knife was spot on. Videos like this are great at letting us know what your preferences and biases are.
Obviously it’s your list I would have personally put the Malibu and Exo-M in huge W. The shaman would be in legend with the manix 2. I would add the Delica In glad it exists.
Interesting…never liked the shark lock as it was too uncomfortable to activate..but love the vision! Also totally agree with Stitch and Ritter! Nice show!
So... your S-tier knives are AD20, Vision FG, Microtech Stitch Ramlock, and Ritter Griptillian? I feel like most of my S-tier knives would be special editions of others. Things like my Spyderco Lil Native in S90V which I put arctic storm fat carbon scales on, things like my copper Ultratech, ZT0452 Glow Carbon Fiber... But really, of these, which are you picking to carry today? Also, what do you look for in knives? Where are the compromises? One production knife I own that would be in S-tier: Tactile Knife Co. Rockwall. Magnacut, titanium, not that big, but works in every situation. Mine came with the elemental zirconium thumb studs, which is neat. Honestly one of the best all around knives I own. I would carry it with a suit and tie. I would carry it EDC around town. I would take it to the woods and go camping. It is neat seeing your face in this new format. I think that's pretty cool.
There are endless reviews and un-boxings showing interesting knives, but I have a limited budget. This format is great for getting into the mindset of "I can only afford one this month--which one"? Of course there are many different criteria that can be used for such decisions: overall value, EDC practicality, around the house utility, aesthetics, hard-use, best action, inter-brand, intra-brand, each price tier, small knives for carry in restrictive areas, steels, scale materials, ergonomics, etc. That's why I love EoY videos, why restrict them to once a year?
Cool format! Interesting to see how old classics standup against newer models. Hope you continue adding to this ranking! Everybody wants to see where their favorite stands lol
God thank you for him not going on a ten-minute rant about lefties. Just messing... I like the new format. You did a great job throwing it together. Thanks for the content.
Fun video. You hurt me by putting that CRK Seb in meh! It got me wondering where you’d rank the Inkosi - similar to the Zaan I guess? If I had to pick one! Side note - got a Manix 2 all black a few days ago. Happy it made the list.
Kinda made me laugh - I got stuck in the wilderness for several days with a... (drum roll, please) Gerber Paraframe (partially serrated). I had to hack through briars, cut sticks, and do all the things you'd expect to do in a survival situation. And it was GREAT - got me out alive and in (fairly) good shape. I don't mean that it doesn't belong in Poo-Poo Town - compared to all the other knives here, it's DEFINITELY the worst - the action is terrible, the blade steel is... unknown, and it's just built cheap. But it really shows how good even the most inexpensive modern knives are: the Poo Poo knife is absolutely good enough to save your butt if you're stuck out in the woods... and all the rest are almost certainly better. Great video!
$300 for the shaman is definitely too high. I love the xm18 myself, but think the eklipse is a much very knife for carry. The ti xm is just a bit bulky for edc. And the spanto is just way too thick bte to really be a decent slicer
The face reveal we need is "The Knife Batman" Nick Shabazz, getting a picture of his face would be harder than getting an actual real life Bigfoot to sit down in front of you and pose for a portrait
This video format is Legend S tier! I absolutely love this. I remember watching your knife steel tier list, but it was hard to follow since there was no labeling on the steels themselves throughout the video. This would be a great solution moving forward. 👍
I like the list. It’s cool to see your preferences. I know a lot of people in the community have been frustrated with benchmade lately, me included, but the 535bk-4 bugout and the 940-1 still find considerable pocket time for me along with my rotation of spydercos. They are both just awesome lightweight edc knives. Also, I’ve never been a fan of ultem, but for some reason I like it on the vision fg. That knife has been calling my name lately lol.
Nice idea for a change MC. Would be much better if you had pics of the full knife instead of the cut off’s. Though on balance I prefer the ones were you rate the top 10 or 20 knives in a certain category and show them each in a bit more detail.
Just getting into knives, hard here in the UK to Carry any of them but that's life. Nice to see this format tho, maybe next time add some actual video shots of the knives rather than the small pics coz I ain't got a clue what's what lol
I love the vision fg, but id love a mini version, maybe do something to make the mini even lighter too. I just think that would be my ultimate summer carry. With a mini and fully size fg id never need another knife
Good stuff man! It's nice to put a face to the voice I've been listening to for so long 😆. Kinda surprised not to see the flytanium arcade in this video
Alright metal complex, this was great, but I have two thoughts to share with you. Consider doing this as a live stream, you can still do the knee jerk reaction bit (which I definitely like) but this way if people want you can add more context The face cam bit is great and doesn’t need touching, keep it the same I guess a third thought might be that you should definitely keep doing these! Very entertaining, very fun!
I got a Boker Kalashnikov in XHP for like $50 years ago; definitely a Glad it Exits in my book. Think the Umnumzzan is S tier for me as well. Can't really argue anything else. I really love the Elementum, Particularly in S35VN, but I understand the Pros and Cons, it's not going to catch everybody's eye. I carry the Penguin more than the Elementum. The Tier format is almost always fun.
Really enjoyed the video and your channel. I like the format. I think an interesting spinoff would be the same format comparing knives in price categories. Another related discussion I'd like to see is knives in their budget form vs premium form. Do top rated budget knives keep their status in premium form when compared to other knives at the premium price category.
Oh my goodness! A new format from MC after 4.7 million videos uploaded!? Blasphemy! I must have a card slap and the same wording from every video! I kid, I like it. Keep it up!
LOVE LOVE LOVE all the American knives. Finally, a video with USA made blades in it. It seems like all you ever see anymore is folks reviewing only Chinese knives!
Nice to see ya buddy. Would love to see a similar format for your livestreams. That would really add some entertainment when you go off on a tangent. Keep up the good work. Thanks MC

Suggestions:
*Add 1 or 2 more grades (lots of knives were between)
*Be okay with changing your mind and moving things as the field gets populated.
*Disregard the price/value and rate the knives as they are.
*Add more knives
*Do an all American knife ranking.
Love the format! Do more!
14:00 - I said "Spyderco Sebenza". Meant "Chris Reeve" - Whoops 😅
It would have worked if you had a picture of one with the Spidey hole mod.
Ok but now I want to buy it.
We all make mistakes but for a man it admit it and move is highly respectable to me
Yea caught that, thought maybe u knew about something that I didn’t

Watching MC say POOPOO TOWN makes this format totally worth it.
A weekly video like this with a continually updated spreadsheet where you rank all the knives from each week would be amazing.
Vision and Stitch. Can’t argue with those choices. Excellent.
Where would the QC Drift Ti go on your list? Man. That always ends up as my favorite. The materials, action, blade shape, etc. so good.

Loved this format. Very entertaining
Love this format… it’s quick easy and simple… here’s a few categories I’d love to see in the future
Best bang for buck
Most unique
Small knives
Knife shapes and what their used for
I love this stuff. Some other tier list ideas would be Blade steels, locks, brands, or even handle material!
I really appreciate this format and would love to see more of them!
particularly for your recommended knives!
The Para 3 should have been S tier no questions asked! Your entire praise about it over the years as a tool is why I bought my Maxamet variant and it's arguably still one of the best and most carryable EDC's Spyderco makes. I feel attacked and personally offended! 😂
Just teasing Complex thanks for the upload
Yeah agree, has to be! The para 3 seems to be a major turning point in edc, can’t explain why exactly
So does the bugout
And the sebenza
Think that’s all :)
Wayyyy too small a blade!
Yes love the Para3! For me the ZT 0562 is also legend tier for me.
Carrying my 0562 ti today, bought this very early into your channel, scratched my itch for a hinderer and still one of my favs
I think this format would be very well suited for more specific uses/categories like you said. Best flippers, frame locks, side opening autos, OTFs. I like it, good video MC.👍

That was fun! I generally agree with this but personally I would put the PM2 in the legend tier, and the Praetorian in at least the glad it exists tier. No, I don’t carry it much but it’s an amazing hunk of steel.
I really like that format, please more of it. And I am amazed how similarly I would have placed those knives.
No Mini Adamas ? IMHO bit pricey but still one of the best balanced top tier EDC on the market.
This was awesome, MC! There are so many possible tier lists that myself, and I’m sure others, would love to see. Budget tier list, all Civivi, under $200, all Microtech, custom, your current collection, etc.

I definitely dig this format! Keep 'em coming, & I'm sure I can speak for a lot of us when I say we're here for it!

Liked the format of the video. Definitely some potential for future content with brand specific or use specific format. Really good thought provoking stuff.
Never handled a full size Praetorian but the slim Praetorian deserves more love. One of my all-time favorites
This was fun! Please do more 😊
For the most part, I agree with the rankings. I few I would move one up or down.
I thought this turned out great and has taken your content to the next level. 5 stars!!! edit: I would have loved to seen you add the Kunwu Padre to this then you may of had a Chinese in Legend or Huge Win.

Great video and love the format!
My current edc is the microtech cypher 2. Love everything about this thing

There will be in the future. This one was intentionally lacking context for the sake of moving the video along
I love the new format, but wish you could of shown a Quick full-screen shot of each knife before placing in each tier.
Let's see a longer video ranking every knife in your collection! Face cam was a great addition to the video too 😁👍
Good video. Prettt much agree on all the placements. Glad to see the American Lawman place that high
Awesome job MC!!! I'm loving the new format!
Oh damn! This is a cool idea!
I swear if opinel doesn't end up in legend we will riot.

Omg MC face reveal guys he’s never showed his face before 😧😧😧😧😧😧😧

The face reveal we need is "The Knife Batman" Nick Shabazz, getting a picture of his face would be harder than getting an actual real life Bigfoot to sit down in front of you and pose for a portrait
The bugout is the most important design to come out in decades...😂. That should be a legend for sure.
This format is awesome!!! More! More! More!
I saw that DLC S30V Shaman are pushing $300 now...absolute insanity.
Yeah, it’s crazy but at least Spyderco aren’t smoking what BM are smoking when they are doing their prices!
Any plans to check out the Ritter Hogue RSK Auto? If the original RSK is Legendary, I'd say the RSK Auto is Legendary+.
I liked this format!
The lightning otf was my first otf that got me to typically carry an otf
Love the format and tier list eval!!💪
Love a Tier List, more please! 👍
Can you do a tier list like this of knife brands in general. Would love to see it.
PooPoo town is my fav tier. My guy was on camera today?!?!? What? Thanks for the video MC I really like this tier list stuff.
Good stuff man! It's nice to put a face to the voice I've been listening to for so long 😆. Kinda surprised not to see the flytanium arcade in this video
I have a 20 something year old Griptillian that still rotate in. 440c blade still in amazing shape. Scales are a little beat up.
Alright metal complex, this was great, but I have two thoughts to share with you.
Consider doing this as a live stream, you can still do the knee jerk reaction bit (which I definitely like) but this way if people want you can add more context
The face cam bit is great and doesn’t need touching, keep it the same
I guess a third thought might be that you should definitely keep doing these! Very entertaining, very fun!
I love tier lists this was great
I like the format. Pretty cool. I agree with almost all of your picks EXCEPT the Sebenza. 100% an S tier knife. IMO.
Dig the format. Maybe add a tier for “not really a knife” that’s for art pieces, meme knives, pocket scythes, etc.
I enjoyed the different video format MC, nice job! We need more poopoo town knives tho!
I have the moyarl, Pyrite, and Vision FG, what should my next purchase in be, trying to keep it under $60 and a bit different from the other 3?
Oh my goodness! A new format from MC after 4.7 million videos uploaded!? Blasphemy! I must have a card slap and the same wording from every video!
I kid, I like it. Keep it up!
Great format, though, and looking forward to seeing whatever you decide to rank next
LOVE LOVE LOVE all the American knives. Finally, a video with USA made blades in it. It seems like all you ever see anymore is folks reviewing only Chinese knives!
Demko are going to have even more knives up on top of the list once the machine ground AD-10, AD-22 & AD-20 Compact come out.
Bro This new video format looks promising. Are we getting unboxing video with picture in picture perspective?
Not sure about that yet but possibly
It would be entertaining to see your reactions especially with those ridiculously awesome unexpected knives.
Nice to see ya buddy. Would love to see a similar format for your livestreams. That would really add some entertainment when you go off on a tangent. Keep up the good work. Thanks MC
Great video, more please. How about one that's a result of a poll for each model?
For me the Demko AD20.5 with big pivot is definitely Legend tier. Hasn't left my pocket in 2 years.
