Absolutely awesome work. I bet every homesteader is watching right now and wanting a large cooler like this. It reminds me of the one my Auntie had in her soup kitchen. My Uncle built her an outdoor kitchen because she loved feeding anybody that needed a meal. So, soup was a meal she could start the night before and serve fresh early in the morning and adding to it throughout the day. Uncle decided she needed a cooler for the fresh cows milk, cheese, and curds. And to hold meats and some fruits and veggies from the farm. The cooler still works with the help of new electricity and the outdoor kitchen has been updated. My Uncle and Auntie have passed on but the great grand kids now use it. This cooler you have built will also last forever!!!! Excellent work. Love and Blessings from Texas.
Hi Jason, I've been following your build on both channels. Great job! Justin had a lot of comments on his channel and this weekend he is traveling with Jonah so there is a strong possiblity that you will see this safety advice before he does. When you put the safety door in position on Justin vlog, I noticed that the cooler door did not have an internal latch to open the door from the inside. Due do this and being that Justin still have small kids, it truly will be wise to install a luminated panic buttom inside the cool room in case the door closes behind someone. I strongly recommend both light and bell system and that these alarms and warning lights be placed outside of the cool box, upstairs near the kitchen area and being that most farmers and homesteaders work outdoors, one should be place outside. I've done this for store owners with children that spend a lot a time around the place of business. With todays technology, I bet there's even an app that can send an alert to our phones. Please take note, love you guys and what you are doing and want all to stay safe.
Yup! I absolutely immediately noticed this too in the door hanging shots! I'm sure Jason has it covered! but very important reminder Thomas, glad you pointed it out!
@@SowtheLand So Jason, it's just a magnetted strip that keeps it close and not spring loaded hinges? If so, that is great to know. The ones we use to install had night catch slam locks on them. And for the ones that stored valuable cuts of meat, wine and champaign came with lockable sliding bolts. It's been well over 15 years since I build my last cool bock and I can see the technology of the modern refridgerator door now built with no locking hardware on them, I just didnt know they made those commercial boxes the same way. Great to hear! :)
What a great walk in refrigerator...this will be a real blessing for them through the years. A couple of years ago, on Our Half Acre Homestead (In Canada), they had a refrigerator that the body of it was shot but the compressor etc. was good. He used that and built around it in his barn to hang deer and moose etc. before butchering. That was a real blessing for them also. It was not nearly as large as this walk in but big enough I think he said for 3 animals. Great job done Jason. Have a Blessed day.
I think those Fiberglass reinforced panels (FRP) would work better than the interior plywood. waterproof, easy to clean, would never rot and about the same price and widely available at big box stores.
I came looking how to build after seeing Justin's walk in being a home made one I'm so glad this video is up your amazing for the tutorial on how you made it !
Interesting. I have been watching the Justin Rhodes videos and my perception is this project was going awfully slow.....this video explains that you were busy, working hard behind the scenes and it brings it all together. Nice job.
Need a walk in cooler, temps 100 some days.(Stockton, Ca.) Your work is very go-o-o-od. Good luck for you and family, Living in Transylvania county 17 years, Area is beautiful, however now 85 never plan to return, sold my inheritance back to family.
Hello Jason and Lorraine I thought I'd surprise you and say hello Just started watching your Vlog love it But one question Jason where's the golf course ?? Lol
I tried to get Al's wife to rent him out for a week but they don't have enough time. Any chance you might be rentable for a week to help get some projects finished? Lol I am just kidding, I really enjoy your videos and I think that you are definitely helping me understand more about how to build things and why you have to do certain things. God bless y'all!
You have worked really hard on that cool room. Can’t wait to see the final reveal! Keep up the great work! Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸
I found this video because I am curious if it's possible to build an indoor ice skating rink for a home considering I live where it doesn't get below 32 degrees (Florida).
First of all wood is not a good insulator. Second wood absorbs moisture. In a freezer it can then freeze and swell causing the joints to misshape and leak precious cold. Third, damp wood is a food source for mold and can cause mold to grow inside the panel and possibly cause negative health affects. Finally, wood can absorb water vapor lowering its already low R-value. This water vapor, through freeze and thaw cycles, cause water to run down and either freeze inside the walk-in or run outside the walk-in causing an unsafe slippery floor increasing injuries and liability issues. Therefore wood is not desirable in walk-ins.
looks like you forgot the vapor barrier in your build. thats the most important part bro. moisture will make.it way in and rot out your whole room. can u clarify if you vapor sealed the pitside of your room envelope or not?
Really a cool build, thanks for al the great tips. I have a cellar completely out of concrete and stone blocks. Unfortunately it’s 20-21 Celsius all year round although it’s not heated. Would I also need to insulate?
Thank you for sharing this! Have been wondering how I might set up a place to store more food! It looks great! Would you mind sharing the details- (is it an attack room?Etc.) And what size and amount of materials for it, cost. Etc. (I know all that would fluctuate with the size and changing costs of materials, but just for an idea) I'd have to hire some to build it for me due to an accident and the resulting disabilities. Thank you.. Love your blog! Blessings to you and you're family! :)
Lowe's should be thankful for the free advertising.

You are a great worker, very organized, God bless
You sure show that your a competent carpenter. Well done.
Thank you for sharing been watching you build this room on Justin's channels and happy now that I have a better explanation of what went into the room
awesome! thanks for watching!
You have really been working efficiently on this room. I saw Justin's video that has you in it.
Watching this in UK right now during a horrible heatwave!

That door is not the locking type handle like the old days. It's a regular magnet seal, just like a common refrigerator.
Yup! I absolutely immediately noticed this too in the door hanging shots! I'm sure Jason has it covered! but very important reminder Thomas, glad you pointed it out!
it does open from the inside. you push it and it opens pretty easy. Kids can open it. Thanks Thomas!

@@SowtheLand really looked like it, door installed. Forgot you were planning on painting....

Looking so great! A lot of good foods will be kept cool in that walk in! Great job, Jason! Blessings from NE Missouri!
Such an amazing job! I'm so excited for the Rhodes and what a game changer it will be!!! Thanks for videos they are awesome!
Does a normal window air conditioner get a rune down to 30 degrees I would think you need a freezer AC not a residential AC
I came looking how to build after seeing Justin's walk in being a home made one I'm so glad this video is up your amazing for the tutorial on how you made it !
The cooler looks beautiful
Love it! Seems theres nothing you cant do or build! My father is like that also...So inspiring :-)

Coolest Cooler Ever! Can't wait to see how they use this! You are the Bomb, Jason! Great Job!
You make it look so easy.

That's pretty clean work.
Thanks for switching it up for a moment on the insulation. Lowes is getting way to much free advertising lately between you and hollars.
Well this is neat! we just rebuilt our fridge aboard our sailboat (that we live on). We would love to hear your thoughts!
Hello Jason and Lorraine
I thought I'd surprise you and say hello
Just started watching your Vlog love it
But one question Jason where's the golf course ?? Lol
Sweet video brother
Can you fiberglass cover it
Could you use the guard foam insulation for a shed cabin to keep it cool
not sure whatt that is. thanks!
Nice work 👏👏👏
thank you
Coming out really good son can’t wait to see it all done ❤️
It looks so cool!! I love it!!

Really enjoying this series, can't wait to see it completed!
I want one!!
What would prevent me from venting the ac unit to the adjoining room to use the heat from the condensing coil?
Have you air chilled chickens it the cooler?
Any idea what the power consumption of the cooler is going to be, given all the insulation?
Do have a video on padlocking hasp with inside release for a Walk-in refrigerator?
Great video
This is great!
Awesome video, I would love to build one of these. Thanks for sharing.
What about walking freezer can you do the same for freezer

Quark? When did you transfer off DS9?
Cool build
Looks good
Thanks, can oxygene come in?
Have you done a room cooler/refrigerated with revolving doors? If yes is a video available?
You've really done a great job!
Where did you get the walk in door from
What's the best type of Insulation foam for this
Hey hi jason ... could u explain the insulation material ur using .. it looks like some kind of foarm board !
I found this video because I am curious if it's possible to build an indoor ice skating rink for a home considering I live where it doesn't get below 32 degrees (Florida).

If you were to build something out of an old existing wall in cooler.... what would it be?
Good job
This is awesome

Very cool
That looks like a very nice cool room. It looks roomy now, but I’ll bet it fills up quickly.
What kind of tape is that?
Really a cool build, thanks for al the great tips.

Would I also need to insulate?
Hi Jason, can I use a concrete walls and put insulation inside? Will it work?
What's the total R value of that insulation?
QUESTION: Where will the A/C drain tube drop the drip? How will you keep it from creating a problem for the roof right below?
Dancing on tippy toes can't wait
About How much would this cost in materials?
What is the R value of the walls after done?
ok thank you
Do you have plastic cap nails mounting through all 4" layers of insulation? If so, how long were those and where'd you find them?
Where is the video of the completion? I’m really curious to know how it turned out.
here you go. ruclips.net/video/-iHQafmzCHs/видео.html
