I know what you mean. Larger is usually better, but for me, 32" makes me feel like I'm sitting in front of a television. Some of it may have to do with the depth of your desk setup and how far away the display is, but 27" has always felt right to me. Good luck with your decision! :)
Supporting paper and the printer is something I like. I have a Pro 100 now, but I'm shooting for a Pro 1000, so I hope benq will support that printer soon. And, I use some Red River Paper, but mostly Canson and Hahnemuhle, so the paper feature isn't of much value to me.
Does the Professional SW lineup have Eye Care included, for its doesn’t seem to be listed on the specs of this or 32” versions?? Is the Eye Care (Blue Reduction) done in another way vs the description on the Website? I’m f not, does this mean we should use a filter screen or blue light glasses when editing?
I know it is a year later, i am looking at this and the 32 inch version. Do you think there will be an update to either of these monitors in the near future. Since the 32 inch is 2 years old. seems like a good tie to maybe update it. There doesn't seem to be the rampant rumor mill around benq monitors as say with apple devices. :) Thanks for the great content.
I too hesitate to purchase 2-year old technology, as great as the SW271C is reported to be. I would like to know when BenQ releases a newer monitor for photographers..
What is the main difference between the S.W. , PD, EW from BenQ? Is mainly calibration, color space for the price difference? Which model would recommend for photo/video needs?
Hi Todd I follow your channel as a hobbyist photographer and enjoy your content. Question: Do you actually find that you need to view your photos on an adobe rgb monitor? Everybody on the Internet repeats the same information that adobe rgb is better for photography without actually explaining or showing why. This seems like a topic worth diving into and you seem like the right guy for it! Color accurate adobe rgb monitors are not cheap so it would be great to understand the actual benefit. I could be wrong but it seemed like you were hinting the difference is very subtle at best. Thanks for doing you thing!
thanks todd do you think that the benQ will work on a Imac 27" mid-2017, 2 thunderbolt 3, 4 Usb 3 on the back, so just simply connect the usb-c to usb-c cable to the screen and Imac ?
Thanks for a wonderful review. Can you help me understand the modes? If I edit photos (in Photoshop) that are going to be displayed digitally/online, what mode should I edit in? Also, what mode would I work with if again using Photoshop the final images will be printed? Finally if I edit video in Final Cut Pro for RUclips, what mode is that? Thanks!
Outstanding monitor review. Well done! I just have one query about the ability to calibrate within the screen hardware. I believe before the 'cons' section, you advised that when calibrating manually, the new IPC profile is stored in the screen hardware. But in the cons section, it looks like you still had to manually change the display profile in the Mac operating system, after changing the colour space on the monitor. My expectation would be that if you manually calibrate within the screen hardware, which stores the ICC profile, you should not need to change the Mac operating system colour profile if this is the same as when each colour space was manually calibrated (I hope that makes sense). Can you comment more on that? Being able to change colour spaces with one click, is one of the main reasons I would go for a screen with internal calibration. Thanks so much!
Just found your YT page. Good interview b/c I've been trying to find the dimensions of this base. On the BenQ web sites it lists the dimensions for the SW271C as: 19.8-24.4x26x11.2 inches. It also lists the dimensions (w/out the base) as: 15.3x25.5x2.9. If you're facing the monitor, then the vertical length of the base (left/right sides) is 8.2 inches? Thanks.
Hi Todd, I wonder why one would want to switch to an sRGB mode to view sRGB images, when the sRGB color space is fully contained in Adobe RGB color space? Shouldn't the image look the same, if the color management (in software) is set up properly?
My doubts for Photography is choosing between the 270 model over this 271. 2K vs 4K for photos?. Is the 4k worth the difference when you are not to work with video at all?
Unless you want to watch 4K video at native resolution or whatever, then no you don’t have to use 4K for photo editing. You’d be perfectly fine with something lower res.
is this worth the huge price increase vs the other monitors that are in the $500-$800 price range that are still 4K 100% sRGB/Rec 709 % 100% Adobe RGB?
Really? I haven’t found adobe rgb monitors so cheap (only a benq for 700€~ and it isn’t available to purchase in any shop) the rest of 27” or 32” 4k monitors all cost between 1189 to more than 3000€ 🧐). I was close to buy an ASUS ProArt PA329C (it seems a good deal too) but I didn’t find it.
🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍 there is also a sw271 without C which has (last) backlight bleeding I personally think this is just outside my budget, is it so serious; backlight bleeding The sw271C = $500, more
Thanks Todd, best monitor review I've seen on youtube
Thank you Todd. Probably the best review of this monitor around, certainly the best I've seen.
I didn’t get tired listening to this! Great job!
Hands down the best monitor review I’ve watched to date. Good job! I learned a lot.
I have just bought one of these displays so this was very helpful.
well thanks. you made me order one now. also moving forward from a 2017 5k imac :)
great voice, pacing and presentation 👏🏻
Yesterday I bought one and it’s an amazing display. I’m very happy with the purchase.
Good Morning from New Zealand, Great Benq Photovue Video, thanks for sharing, have a great week
love the way you present. i'm in such a dilemma between 27 inch and 32 inch screen

Great review! Thanks, I'm totally sold 😄

Note that the BenQ SW321C 32 Inch 4K IPS Photo and Video Editing Computer Monitor is a true 10-bit display.
Interesting - thanks for sharing that
@Todd Dominey Oops! On further review, I was mistaken. It's 8-bit plus FRC. I'm so sorry for this error.
thanks todd

@LunarTick Thanks for the explanation.
For mac users, does it scale properly as its only 163 PPI, where as macs need 110 or 220 PPI? Does it also slow the GPU?
Such a shame a lot of the BenQ panels seem to fail after 2 to 3 years.

Would you still recommend the sw271c in 2022?
I'm buying this in next two months. Nothing come close in this price.
@@montazownianr1 Before buying, check out Asus Proart.

Good to know - thanks for sharing. I haven't tried the older 271.
🙏🏾
And here I am watching this video on a five year old iPad lol
More like: twenty seven one C
