I love these remarkable and, at times, inspiring stories. Consuelo Found Her Voice while taking the high road by not bashing her ex-husband. Her life is a tale of maturity, resilience, growth, and reflection. She could've played the victim card, but she chose not to. Thank you for telling stories about women without victimizing them.
I think our parents separated us at birth? We have to be identical twins? YOUR WORK IS SO LUSCIOUS! Everything I love in one package! Huge standing ovation here! For me, her story is a, “… and she lived happily ever after,” story! Very inspiring!
I’m really taken with the story that was Consuelo Vanderbilt’s life. Her book, “The Glitter and The Gold” is written in such a way, it’s as though you can actually hear her voice unfold through the chapters and the high levels of her education and breeding also radiate through. Beyond this, what fascinates me is the very recent biography of the 9th Duke, written by his great-grandson, Michael Waterhouse, which alludes to Consuelo, rather than being the victim of the cold and indifferent Duke, being granted the freedom to explore her relationship with Winthrop Rutherford… whom ultimately declined the offer to elope with her. She then went on to reportedly sleep with the Duke’s cousin, calling her children’s legitimacy into question. Scandalous! (I’ve not yet read the biography, so please do correct me if you have… and any of the above isn’t quite accurate!)

Great seeing live footage, wouldn't know if it was a tragedy
Just the way people lived their lives back then. But she was strong and learned to live her life on her terms. 👍
