Wow thanks! I just tore the door apart trying to figure why my sliding door wouldn't open or close from the outside latch! Damn I should've watched this video beforehand! No pain! No gain!

Thanks this video was a big help as my church van outside hands was non functional, but seeing you take this one out and giving me a better idea on how to make it functional again was extremely helpful on this sliding door. Now works perfectly, been nonfunctional for a while now. God Bless!

You can see the outside handle screw through the hole in the door by, the latch. I measured the distance {approx} 2 7/8" from the end of the door on the inside and 3 1/4" down from the bottom of the inside handle. I drilled a 5/16"" hole in the inside plastic panel and the metal door inside skin. It was perfect to slide in a Philips screw driver and tighten the screw. I now carry a Philips and I did not have to take the door apart. I have an 07-15 pass Ford.

I was grateful to find your video as I have the same problem (obvious design flaw) but when you said to simply use a marker to note the adjustment I had to stop, give a thumbs up, and comment. Great vid, excellent "how to"!

Thanks for the vid - replaced the handle on my 03 e250 but it still wouldn’t work - what happened is someone prior to me buying it had placed the metal bar into the yellow snap piece instead of the threaded rod. Works fine now. Thanks!

Your video made this job a lot easier! Two things you could do i think.. 1. use a lock washer or 2. (like someone else mentioned here) use blue loc tide! or both.. worse case scenario: Buy a new one!
P.S. if there's no screw no big deal... just use a small wood type screw... about a 1/2 inch long. Remember to add a washer!

Do you know what size screw it takes? Mine fell out and I'm looking to replace it.

I have an 03 that WILL NOT LOCK. The key turns, and I can hear the locks, but it will not lock. Any advice? Thanks.

Well it sounds like possibly the rod inside the door that is typically attached to the key cylinder when you turn the key normally locks and unlocks the latch mechanism it could be that that Rod is not connected to the cylinder.

@@mechanicalman8048 I have a 1994 and the lock mechanisim works just fine with the key and manually moving the lock up and down but for me even when its in the "locked" position I can still open the door from the outside. I had to disable the outside door handle to keep people from opening my sliding door. I can only open it from the inside now.

This might be the worst video I ever saw. I am actually feeling aggregated by having watched it.
