She has written her own songs from the beginning and started writing songs as a preteen. It’s probably not important to a lot of artists whether they write their own songs or not but she has said in multiple interviews that she loves songwriting and feels like she wouldn’t be where she is if she didn’t write her own songs. She wrote her 3rd album as the solo writer on all the songs because people kept accusing her of not really writing them. She has also started recording her songwriting sessions to prove she does the majority of the writing even if she has cowriters.

Insight into Swift- She writes her own songs. Produces. Directs her own music videos, They are like movies. Plays at least four instruments. She sings LIVE with a real band. Her band has been with her since she was a teen. She pays All her employees extremely well and recently gave 100k bonuses to all the truck drivers on her Eras tour and a total of 55 million just in bonuses to every person working the Eras tour. No other artist does that. She speaks with her fans in a regular basis and has invited fans to her home to hear a new album before it is released called the secret sessions. She has attended fans wedding events and hand delivered Christmas presents to fans. She did this thing called Swiftmas. I recommend looking up secret sessions and swiftmas or fan videos. There are sooo many.

I’ve honestly been nothing but impressed with her artistry and her as a person. I hope you keep checking her out. For those that like more production and some driving beats, I strongly recommend her live performances of Ready For It, Don't Blame Me, & I Did Something Bad from her Reputation Stadium Tour concerts.
For a more lyrical bent with less production, her songs from her Folklore album...especially interesting to watch are the Long Pond Sessions of the Folklore album because she talks about the making-of for the songs, and it's mostly minimalistic productions...the song Exile as a duet with Bon Iver is outstanding.
For more production heavy with a different vibe: Lavender Haze, Would've Could've Should've, & Midnight Rain are good samples.
Haunted, Better Than Revenge, & Trouble all have heavier rock influences.
So much just depends on what style of music appeals to you...and then there's a good chance Taylor has songs that would fit that vibe.
As much as I enjoy the song ME! it's a sugar pop one that you just have to embrace the fun & ignore its 'sappiness'. Not one I would've recommended for a first time reactor.
Thanks for taking the time to actually give an openminded listen, and also for being willing to review the songs/vids without denigrating them.

What a delight to see someone watch an interview before a song reaction - it's nice to see a reactor take an interest in who she is as a person before even delving into her as an artist. You noticed her storytelling abilities right away and instantly recognized the gaslighting during the fight scene. Well done. One thing - if you want to explore more (and you should!!), I would steer clear of her top hits & radio singles. ;)
My suggestions for you based on your reaction are below. I always like to show new listeners some live performances to start:

She makes a point to adress her songwriting because that's one of the things that was said about her when she started: because the songs were good the general public, the media and some critics said she didn't actually write them. They have always tried to take away from her success by saying she's famous from other things other than her talent, that's why she always defends herself with her work.

I like how thoughtful this reaction is! Her music videos are amazing but people tend to get distracted and not listen to the lyrics. Her ability to tell a story, paint a picture, and create something personal that anyone can relate to is her biggest strength. I think you'd like her Long Pond Studio sessions, you get an intimate version of some of her best songs. Highly recommend This Is Me Trying and My Tears Ricochet from those sessions. For something more upbeat, the live version of I Did Something Bad is amazing. You don't have to love her, but its hard to listen and not gain respect for her talents. Her best songs are like listening to poetry with a catchy beat 😂

As she has matured, her story writing as matured as well. Her videos are great, but her live performances are the best. The Reputation tour songs are really good, as well as live performances off the Eras tours. If you want to hear the stripped down versions, the Long Pond Studio sessions are phenomenal. Exile, with Bon Iver is one of my favorites. Vigilanty Shit, live Eras tour is great, and then Don't Blame Me, live from Reputation tour is awesome. You have to understand she's been writing and recording from the time she was 15, so much of her early work is from the perspective of a very young person with limited life experience. She sang what she knew. Her work from her late 20's and into her 30's has the maturity and life experiences one would expect. Great reaction!

6:34 it’s actually so crazy the amount of times I love a song from an artist, and then I find out someone else wrote it for them. I think that you def can be an amazing singer and make someone else’s song your own, but that’s kinda all you are. A great singer/musician. But people like Taylor, who write every single song themselves? They’re so much more than only a singer. Especially artists like Taylor who can literally do it all, sing, dance, songwrite, produce, direct, act AND still be an amazing human being. Now THATS talent.

She employs hundreds of people. Donates to food banks. She’s also donated to music programs. She wrote a song called Ronan about a little boy that died from cancer. Money from the streaming gets to his charity. She visits kids with cancer.

Taylor writes or co-writes all of her songs, directs some of her videos, a lot of her songs and concert movies.
She also plays acoustic guitar, electric guitar, paino, organ, keyboard, banjo and drums a little.
Her master recordings were sold out from under her, so she is re-recording them. There are 6 albums. Her doing that has changed the music industry. She stands up for small artists to get paid more and mentors them. She took on Apple music(they had a free three month trial period but didn't pay the artists during that period), Taylor wrote an open letter to Apple, in less than 24 hours Apple responded by putting out an open letter says "We hear you Taylor" and changed their policy. That affected EVERY ARTIST on Apple Music. She also took on Spotify. It took longer for them to change their policy, so she refused to put her new album or any new music on their platform until they changed how they paid all artists. That was years ago. She was in her 20's when she did that. That is a Boss move especially for a young female artist.
When her record contract ended, every label wanted her. She wouldn't sign with any label that would not pay ALL of the ARTISTS on the label more in streaming. I seriously doubt any artist could or would do that.
Her Eras Tour concert movie, she bypassed movie studios because they wouldn't meet her demands and went straight to the largest movie theater chain to do a direct distribution. Since she self financed the movie and skipped the studio it cuts out the middleman. She did all of the marketing herself. She set the ticket prices, what days the movie could be played, they had to allow people to trade friendship bracelets(fan thing) and that people could stand up, dance and sing.
Movie studios are now a little concerned that smaller films will cut them out like Taylor did.
She has her own management and production companies.
She is a songwriter who happens to sing, as she puts it.
All of the above plus are the reason people love Taylor. Everyone has different tastes in music but her talent and power moves have to be respected.

I’m always concerned when I see someone reacting to Taylor for the first time or being new to her stuff and the song list includes ME! 😅 because I really enjoy that song but it’s almost no one’s cup of tea sadly besides mine usually 😂 absolutely loved how much you were willing to go into this and get a good picture of her, and so glad you did the All Too Well video and appreciated her storytelling!
I know everyone in these comments is telling you which ones to react to, but I figured I’d throw some down here anyway 😂
1: Intro+Did Something Bad from her live Reputation tour
    2: tolerate it (storytelling)
    3: would’ve could’ve should’ve (storytelling)
4: long live (she wrote this for her fans)
5: anything from the eras tour
I’d also recommend watching Miss Americana the documentary if you want some more background for her music, and then the Look What You Made Me Do music video afterwards, so much of her music has a ton of background that makes it richer
Also I just really appreciated watching this and seeing you react to her so open to liking and appreciating her and her work, a lot of guys specifically I’ve seen refuse to take her seriously or find any value in what she does and I really appreciated seeing you take the time to watch with the intention of really understanding. So much of what young women or teenage girls enjoy is dismissed as vapid or silly or meaningless and it was really nice to see someone outside of her usual demographic recognize her value!

She is 34 now. ~ Check out her live performance for 'Are you ready for it' from her Reputation tour or live 'Vigilante shit' form her Era's tour. Great live performances that show you 2024 Taylor. Vigilante shit is her revenge song for him. My favorite line ever is 'I don't start shit, but I can tell you how it ends... Don't get sad, get even'. LOVE it, She rerecorded her music, as a more seasoned singer & she helped his ex, get her divorce from him as mentioned in the song. Sweet revenge. People now only want to hear 'Taylor's version' of her old songs. 'Bad Blood' with Kendrick Lemar is bad ass song & killer video too. Lots of pretty celebrities in that video too. Taylor writes all her stuff. If you listen to her lyrics, you will know Taylor personally. ~ All too well is about her 3-month relationship with the actor Jake Gyllenhaal, who was 10 years older. (He always dates young ones like Leonardo Decaprio does) As shown, he missed her 21st birthday. She elaborates more on that in her song 'The moment I knew'. She is amazing the way she writes. She has a set of 3 songs that are about the same story & each song is for one of the 3 parties in the song. My favorite line in this one is 'You kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath'. And she has her 'gentle' songs like this & then she has her 'Diva' songs like I mentioned in the first line. Talented gal.

Songs I would recommend with heavier production would be: intro + ready for it live from the reputation tour, I did something bad live either from the reputation tour or the AMAs, Don’t Blame Me live from the reputation tour. Some songs that are really heavy lyrically are: My Tears Ricochet from the Long Pond Studio sessions ( this is comparing the betrayal she felt from her masters being sold to a divorce), Exile featuring Bon Iver from the Long Pond Studio sessions, This is me trying from the Longpond studio sessions. Any of those from those studio session it’s nice to include the little interview before they play the song because it gives you an idea of her thought process behind writing them which is really interesting.

Subscribed, because I want to see your reaction to anything from the Folklore album 😂 It’s one of my personal favorite albums of all time. My favorite song, from Folklore, is “The Lakes”. 🫶 If you are a musician or a writer, you will love the song. It is beautiful.
Honestly, I listen to Taylor based on mood. Her catalog, at this point, is vast. Every album has a different vibe. ✨🦋✨

Lifelong Chiefs fan here. When she started showing up at Arrowhead time and time, I had to check into her further.
I always associated her with Shake If Off (which really annoys me) who only does break-up songs. Not a hater, just wasn't a fan. 100% 360 now.
I'm going to suggest the Intro+ live from her Reputation Tour.
Recommend music video to End Game with Ed Sheeran and Future.
Welcome and I appreciate your honesty.

I watched this morning and I love that you did All to Well and Me together... I say that because I was a fan of Taylor's when she first started in Country... I shifted to contemporary Christian music and lost track of her, but last year All To Well was recommended on RUclips and I got sucked in a rabbit hole. Had to dig deeper. I related to the words so much having left an abusive relationship and that's why I love that you reacted to Me too because honestly that song I read was considered one of Taylor's most unpopular songs which surprised me because it was something I also related to when working on myself and practicing self-care/love... going down that rabbit hole though I truly became a fan of Taylor's because of her documentary Miss Americana. She shares her struggles with Eating disorders and relationships. It really helped me to understand her as a human being. I had seen an interview somewhere not sure where that All To Well she walked into practice for an upcoming performance and she had just broken up with her Ex Jake Gyllenhaal sat down at a piano without speaking to anyone and started singing the lyrics... all 10 minutes of it. Her mom looked to the sound person and asked when she was done singing if he got that recorded and he/she did. Taylor later released the shorter version and her fans found out about the longer version and would not let it go. When Taylor re-recorded her albums she included the 10 minute version 🤯 it's one of my favorite songs due to the relatability of the emotional abuse I endured. The story telling in her music it's just so relatable honestly and that's what makes her songwriting such a big deal. I turned 50 last month and I am a proud new Swiftie. I love all of her music but i think you would enjoy End Game which features Ed Sheeran and Future. Anything on the Reputation album is awesome and my favorite Era of hers because you can feel she is finding her voice and she branded the snakes 🐍 which the imagery of snakes was inspired by the West-Kardashian controversy and featured prominently in the album's promotional campaign. I love that album and how she owns her life is why she is so inspiring and not to just the 11 and 15 years old... but there is many of us 50 years olds who just love her actually of all ages. She inspires us to speak up all of these nice girls who have been told not to speak for ourselves 🤷🏻‍♀️ not sure if that makes sense but Taylor is one of my hero's 🦸🏻‍♀️

Taylor Swift has an enormous catalog of pop and country songs. If you want to experience something musically different from Taylor, listen to her Evermore and Folklore albums. She wrote, produced and dropped these, without fanfare, during the first year of Covid. They are extremely remarkable and great to listen to when all you want to do is chill and vibe. One of the most favorites and one of mine is Cardigan. Naturally, some have videos.

So her radio hits aren’t too bad but she has better lyrics on songs that aren’t played everywhere. If you love storytelling…. The midnights album was insane writing with Jack showing his crazy production ability on the sound. The albums she did during Covid… Evermore and Folklore are alternative instead of pop. So I recommend those 3. She creates story’s too… Folklore has 3 songs that are from 3 people in a love triangle…. Cardigan, Betty and my favorite August!!!! She wrote Great American Dynasty about her home in the Hamptons. Marjorie is about her grandmother who died right before her career took off. Lover isn’t my favorite album but Soon you’ll get better needs to be dropped more!

Fun fact she adopted that kitten n real life, his name is. Benjamin Button and he was in her time person of the year. Evermore and Folkore you might like. Acoustic and very intimate almost blue grass sound. Of course Reputation totally different and was after first Kim and Kanye scandal, one of her best and more hip hop rock sound vs pop

You picked an amazing group of examples with these 3. ❤ not only did she write, sing, produce, and direct the song and video for All Too Well, it’s the story of her relationship with the actor Jake Gyllenhaal, who was one of two men who were 29+ years old when she was between 18-20 and are notorious playboys. She was a conquest of Jake and John Mayer.
The actors who played her and Jake Gyllenhaal look strikingly similar to her and him when she was experiencing this major heartbreak. At the end, he never even showed up to her 21st birthday. She has written over 300 songs, and only a small handful are about ex-boyfriends.
Her depth, vocal range, genres of music, videos, caliber of live shows, etc is so incredibly multifaceted, it’s what propels her to the global phenomenon that has brought you here today. There is seriously not many musicians who are all encompassing. Thank you for taking the time and effort to react, I really enjoyed watching you step out of your comfort zone too create this. ❤😊

I think the importance on her writing her own songs is because she broke out as a country artist specifically AS a teenaged girl who'd written her own songs. And obviously she had other folks helping her polish them at that point, but because she first made a name for herself as someone who wrote her own songs, and because she's always had that as part of her identity, it became way more important for her than for a lot of other pop singers who never claimed to be songwriters.

I am soooo excited to hear the depth of your reactions! Something that I think surprises new listeners diving into her discography is she is incredibly versatile in style and genre, especially after 17 years of music. There are so many interesting things to listen to - for live performances, I recommend Don’t Blame Me, Look What You Made Me Do (both from the Reputation tour), Vigilante Sh*t, and her Grammy’s acoustic performance of Wildest Dreams. For songwriting and craft (and production behind the scenes), watch Exile (the Long Pond Sessions version) and My Tears Ricochet (the accompanying Long Pond interviews for both go deep on lyrics and technique). For music videos, I recommend Karma (featuring Ice Spice), End Game (featuring Future and Ed Sheeran), Look What You Made Me Do, and The Man. Subscribed! You’ve got a faithful viewer!

Appreciate your approach! I did the same thing. I knew the hits, but not much else and finally decided to get to know who she was and what the fuss was about. A lot of her music is still not my vibe, but a lot of it is now and I am most definitely a newbie, middle aged Swiftie now. My preference runs to higher energy stuff.
Recommends: After brushing up on the Taylor/KimYe stuff, watch the music video for Look What You Made Me Do.
Then the live performances of: Intro/Are You Ready For It, and Vigilante Shit (which was written about her revenge on Scooter Braun).

Publishing rights are a huge deal. This is what has allowed her to rerecord her older maters, aka "Taylor's Version". Any commercial use of her music, regardless of who owns the Masters, gets her paid, because of those publishing rights. So yeah, it's a big deal.

Taylor has written her own songs since she was a child. Her music evolved as did she over the years. Some songs like Shake it Off and Me were definitely messages to young people that have been bullied and to tell them they are each one of a kind. All Too Well is a song about her relationship with Jake Gyllenhal (sp?) - her first deep heartbreak. She plays piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and the banjo. And she writes from her own experiences. She has said she’s a songwriter who sings her own songs.
