Keri, you're my new hero! I'm an opera singer (countertenor) and am consistently having to prove I'm good enough (I'm have a disability, brain tumour at birth with left me paralysed down the right side of my body.) so this advice at the end of your video really hits home with me. 😀

Hey Kerri! Love your videos! I know I keep saying that, but it's trueee! Love the bit about emotional story-telling, too. Good point! Defying Gravity is one of my favorite songs EVER. I sang it for my first recital ever (video is actually on my channel, haha, but I don't sing it as well as you!!). I've been singing for a little over a year now, and your advice is spot-on with what my voice teacher tells me...yay songbirdtree! :D
i just can't get the bring me down in a chest voice.. head voice is okay but achhhh haha. but thank you so much this has helped a lot!

thank you so much. I've always wanted to do broadway and I want to get the part of elphba some day. Can you do a How to sing the phantom of the Opera. I'm really having trouble with the part where Christine is caring the (ahhhhhh) higher and longer and the the Last Note where it's that (AHHHHH!) Super sorta head voice. it's hard.

Great video!! I now have 8 months vocal lessons and i have a lot to learn. I have no clue what I'm doing because I taught myself to sing. Obviously the wrong way. To sing skyscraper in chest mix and headvoice is so hard. I almost sing everything in mix..... Do you have a tip for me to let go of that when I need to sing in high because I'm pushing the mix voice when it goes pretty high

Hey Kerri thanks for posting this. I am wondering if you would happen to know how to advice people suffering from asthma (and asthma inhaler induced dry throat and nasal issues) on singing this song. I have stories that make me want to sing this song but I feel like I start coughing every time I try to sing this. Thanks.
My chest voice is really low for a girl. (Really. My bridge for this song sounded at least a couple notches lower). Therefore, it's difficult for me to access my head voice, and when I do, I sound a little strained. How do I improve this?
