Andy Murray will end his tennis career after the 2024 Olympic Games. The two-time Olympic champion from Scotland will compete one last time in Paris, but only in doubles with Daniel Evans. Murray won gold in the singles and silver in the mixed doubles at the London 2012 Games and gold again four years later in Rio de Janeiro. Andy Murray became the first professional tennis player to win two back-to-back Olympic Gold 🥇 medals (London 2012 / Rio 2016). First British player to win two Wimbledon titles (2013 / 2016) since Fred Perry in 1937. He is now Britain's most successful tennis player in history.
He had an artificial hip replacement not long ago and he knew that he was not physically the same athlete that he was in his younger days. He still went out in glorious fashion by finishing his career at the Olympics - the very competition that he had already won twice. He has retired on his own terms and he has nothing more to prove. He made it all the way.
