Good video sir Reminded me of My dad's style Of checking Engines when I was A kid in the 1980s He would triple check always Again sir good work! God bless..
Ralf, I just had a 2013 Equinox with the #2 cylinder misfire. Did the coil swap and then compression check and sure enough #2 had no compression. Pulled the head and found one of the exhaust valves in #2 had a piece chipped off. Don't quite know how that could have happened but I decided to replace all the valves. Nice job on the diagnosis.
One additional diagnostic test would be cylinder leakage. This is done by charging the cylinder with air and checking where air leaks out...intake valve, exhaust, through crankcase, or into coolant(radiator cap removed). It gives more information before removing the cylinder head. There are devices made for this purpose, they measure per cent cylinder leakage.
I am picking up a 2015 equinox for $500, has a undiagnosed engine problem but from what I am told it has a different problem that what you just diagnosed. I watched your video and you did the same exact thing I would have done. Just hope this car I am picking up is not in the same condition. I really appreciate the video.
Any update on this engine Ralph? I found this very helpful as I’m having the same issue with my 2010 Equinox as we speak. Thank you for taking the time to teach people-
Hi Ralph, good video. I always tell people to listen to the engine during clear flood mode. I am also old school and still use a vacuum gauge in some cases, but also like to use my OBDII scanner. I also have an Equinox with the same engine. I have seen reports of imitation NGK plugs from China that may cause damage such as this. Were those the original plugs and or what brand were they if replaced before?
Okay what if it's not starting up at all and I have codes P0300, C056D-00, U0100-71. I have replaced the high pressure fuel pump, so is what do I need to change??? Please help I'm stranded and wasting money and I need to get my truck fixed.
@@ralfsautomotive yea but when I don't have the money and can fix it myself I would rather do that.....they really act like they can't tell me what's wrong when I did take it to someone twice
@@InfinitiGemini You have no found a good shop then! What I am trying to tell you is that apparently you are not able to fix it! Right? So I was suggesting to find some "GOOD" Shop. I cannot diagnose a vehicle using RUclips! Sorry! Nobody can. And the People that claim that they know without looking, well, you should stay away from them in the first place.
Could have put oil in the cylinder to see if the compression went up. This would tell you whether its the head or cylinder. You seem too nervous about people not believing you figured out what was wrong with the engine. If you wrench cars and couldn't figure it out you probably shouldnt wrench cars. Point being I believe you figured out the problem without question.

What is the price on this job?
Thanks I will have to check mine, I'm getting a misfire, reduced engine power. Rough idle has I drove it home. 10 equinox 2.4l 4cyl
Great video
hi Did you find out what was the issue?

Would not matter what is wrong with it for 500 LOL
This is more of a schooling video on what todo it's long but gives a point of view it's pretty good

Sorry no, these people are not from here they got stuck coming down the Interstate.
If the injector was stuck open - there always would be fuel on the plug, correct?
On that vehicle yes!

Problem with this was Original OE Plugs that had never been changed.
8:04 “oop, shoulda unplugged that airflow.. my bad” 🤣😂
As a rule never leave them plugged in if there is no hose. It will not hurt it but it does not help it.

Save Money by having a tech look at it rather than blasting parts at it. Trouble Codes are guides at best.

Good video 👍
Good video
junk cars .rip another gm pos
Good
I have misfire I think I got a bad fuel injector
It is possible, so at this point I would go and see a tech that can test for that.
That car is a pile of shit to begin with.lol.
#4 is #1 companion not #3
Wording, but correct.
25 minute video. Wtf is wrong with it
