    The locals claim that the dance dates from the founding of a local fair in 1226 - without any evidence.
    The earliest reference to a 'hobby horse' dance is from 1532 - but horns are not mentioned.
    The first reference to the horns is from 1686 - but there is some evidence they may have been used prior to the Civil War.

    Maybe because it’s always been done? Fascinating - and moving to think of all the times people have done this and watched and walked along beside.
