He lived in the cupboard under the stairs, his Uncle always manhandled him, he fed scraps, never proper meals, they fed him lies about his parents. His aunt almost hit him in the head with a frying pan in the 2nd book, he was locked in his bedroom in the 2nd book, only being let out for the bathroom and was given cold soup in a can through a cat flap in his door. When he was 8, he was forced up into a tree and couldn't come back down until late at night, he didn’t know his name until he started school. There are more. So this shows that there's no need for the abused AU. He was emotionally, mentally, and somewhat physically abused
