Your attention to detail is unmatched when it comes to hand making these parts. You are a badass and I wish you werent in another country so I could learn hands on with you
Cheers mate! NZ is definitely a pretty small country so I'm glad to be able to share this work with a bunch of awesome people from all around the world.
@@teamarket5145 It's all about the hustle mate. I believe anyone with a vision and a lot of time and effort could do any of this stuff and that's kinda what I want to show with these videos.
Growing up in the UK reading Max Power and the like I never really "got" the aesthetic cars. I had a piece of shit road car and spent all my time building a track car to make it go faster. Watching your work has completely opened my eyes to the work and detail that goes into some of the best looking modified cars and this one will be at the top of the tree! You have such an amazing eye for detail and technical skills, I want to say a huge thank you for sharing your work!
This thing is going to be absolute fire!!! Save that mold.....I would definitely pay for one of these over the normal traditional fast back style hard tops!! Keep up the fantastic work
Man if you decided to produce these, you would sell a million of them. Stock miata hardtops go for $1500-2500USD in the US, and your design is fantastic.
Yeah Miata parts are starting to go up in price quite a bit these days. Unfortunately you'd be looking at $1,500 - $2,000 USD just to ship these to the states from NZ so it's not really feasible until I either move to another country or economy shipping options come back.
There has been some interest but with the lack of rear glass, no boot access, and how much it would cost to ship internationally from NZ, I feel if I made moulds they would just sit and take up space.
Thanks bro! I wouldn't go that far though, there are plenty of amazing builders out there that I take a lot of inspiration from. I just want to show people that it's possible to get into this sort of thing at a lower price point and do it for fun.
Everyone talking about how amazing the build is, which it is, but no one is talking about how this guy is doing fiberglass with his bare hands😂, this is a brave individual
Stunning work, bud! Messy & stinky though. I used to work with my mate building single seaters with carbon honeycomb tubs & carbon panels. Look for GWR Predator & GWR Raptor videos on here. Those are the ones we did. He still produces them. Cheers. Leigh.
I love it dude, I'm sure you don't need me to tell you but I love the shape you've created, especially the way the wing wraps onto the rear quarter panels
This is a fantastic video! I really like the design elements of your fastback design. As someone who has been involved in ground up auto builds, I'm impressed by your craftsmanship as well. Keep pumping this content out!
Definitely mate, get stuck into it. It can be a real pain no doubt about it, but it's so rewarding when you get that finished part that's exactly what you wanted.
I like the overall design with the wing. It's definitely interesting to see how your going about it. So different to how I made the Lightyear Fastback.
Your video work, editing and overall presentation is on par with your excellent construction of this beautiful machine. Makes me happy to watch, and that is an intangible skill you also seem to work into your creations. Nice to know you are just across from me in NZ. From Tassie, Australia.
Brotha your skill level is on a whole other level . I’m hooked . Always wanted to ditch my rear hatch on my fc for the weight . You just keep on keepin on as they say 👊🏼💯✊🏼🖤
very impressive. I'm convinced you will be greatly rewarded by the outcome-the lines really come together and I'm looking forward to the finished result. I know it's been stated elsewhere, and I hate bugging you about it, but please, please, please: The dust from the glas fibres is a serious long term hazard to you. Every time you blow air, it will become an aerosol of sorts and you'll breathe it in. May I recommend Mirka Abranet? it is an abrasive system including sanding blocks. Why? The longevity of the abrasive is unmatched by paper by far and you can reuse this stuff countless times before it no longer cuts. AND: its supporting layer has a net structure, allowing the attachment of a hose even for hand sanding. the other issue: please do not use a grinder for cutting the glas fibre. An excenter driven tool such as a Fein Multimaster or any similar derivative will give you similar results, without kicking the fibres in any which direction. Take care, and best of luck to you! Regards from Germany
This is toooooo cool!! Great work man, I seen what it currently looks like on Instagram and even tho this is before the update this video still had me smiling when I seen how great everything lined up. Great workmanship!
After watching you spend the time and effort into building the mould template out of expanding foam and filler it was sad to see it smashed up into pieces... but on with the build! Looks absolutely stunning mate!
Love this particular style! Would laying a plastic covering down under the foam help with the clean up/ rip off process? Also what about maybe cutting like 6 holes where the back window goes and using small glass or plexiglass for said holes. Kind of like a viewport type of thing. Looks great! Keep up the good work!
Gonna look super cool when finished. I've seen a dude with å custom rear panel like that you made earlier but it included ewen the rear lights, and be had just a round tall light on both sides. That måde the rear look werry different
I don't know anything about bodywork, but I have a new appreciation for it when it comes to making custom pieces. Is this the typical process? Seems incredibly involved. You have crazy patience. I wish I could make my own pieces for my miata. Amazing work!
Cheers! There's dozens of ways to fondue a mongoose. This is my first time trying this method of adding the filler over top and then pulling the finished part straight from the plug. Most of the time you'll make a mould off the plug first and then pull the finished part from that mould, but it's a lot of extra material and this way is much cheaper for one-off parts this size.
This is definition of a BUILD! Hand made parts, custom fabrication. Awesome.
Man is the definition of...
"Fine, I'll do it myself"
This build is gonna turn out amazing...🔥🔥

@Tofu Auto Works what part of NZ are you in? 👌🏻
Got to be the nicest fastback I've seen on a miata yet, truly beautiful lines and curves

Id work for this man in a heartbeat his craftsmanship is next level, i feel there is a lot to learn from him. Big up a fellow kiwi
If I could give this 2 thumbs up; I would. Such amazing work. I’m so glad I found this channel
This already looks amazing, but it's going to look incredible after paint/wrap
I just wanna see it finished already! This is gonna be so cool when its complete. Definitely one of a kind, keep grinding man you’re killing it

Zen and the Art of Body Work… I love this channel so much!
I may have found my equal, your cut off wheel accuracy is that of legend
Hahaha, wait until the next video before you go that far, I still make rookie mistakes all the time.
@@TofuAutoWorks haha as do I, but that what makes you better. Won’t make that mistake again
the amount of time that goes into this thing... just the waiting for curing is insane. you clearly have the patience and dedication for it
I'm not a fan of the rocket bunny / tonka toy style of miata but the lines of that coupe roof and your attention to detail on the build are top notch!

what an awesome insight into how glass body work is done.
you make it look so easy.
keep up the incredible work

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people wanted to buy this if you took a good mould of the roof. Something like this would sell for a lot!

Wow that fitment straight off the mould is mint, you must be pretty stoked with that!
Always nice when things go to plan yeah haha.
Nice, I have a little yacht, and dabble in GRP repairs, really versatile stuff.
Desert Flight suit with a patch on it, with wings. Brings back memories.
