Amazon Week 2023 - Just Energy Transition in the Amazon rainforest, 15th September 2023

A round table that delves into the pressing issue of the Amazon rainforest and its energy transition. The discussion brings together the Brazilian government (Mariana Especie, Director of Energy Transition, Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy), GIZ Brazil (Paula Scheidt Manoel, Energy and Urban Development Program) and experts from academia (Prof. Alessandro Trindade, Federal University of Amazonas) and NGOs (Rosana Santos, Executive Director, E+ Energy Transition Institute; Ricardo Baitelo, Energy and Environment Institut and Wagner Campos, Rioterra) to explore sustainable solutions able to promote a fair and equitable transition towards renewable energy sources.
The recently launched program "Energies of the Amazon" is presented and insights on the priorities established by the Brazilian government are shared by experts from different organisations who are also dedicated to this matter.
This event takes place within the scope of the Amazon Week, a series of multisectoral events on the sustainable development of the Amazon rainforest promoted by the Embassy of Brazil in Berlin and partners.
