It's built off the VX/VT Commodore Chassis based on the new Opel Zeta platform. They had a short run in the US (2 years) and stopped in 2009. With that being said, It's not surprising that the GTO has drift heritage considering that Holdens are quite often seen in down-under drift competitions.

Barrie Tingle GM did not sell Vauxhall, they sold off Saturn, Pontiac, Hummer, and Saab back in 2009 when GM was going down hill. Vauxhall still is producing cars today. Also, I have never heard of a Saturn Vectra. I have heard of an Opel Vectra, but not a Saturn Vectra.
I mean these cars don't have enough camber, steering lock and strong enough handbrake for the job so yeah only 5 second drifting for normal cars. Unless it's Initial D....

Usually people prefer to do it by Handbrake, it's the simplest way. But once you are drifting, it's all braking, accelerating and keeping the car out of control, yet in control.

if you have enought power you can do it accelerating but you usually have to start it with handbrake, balancing or clutch
