thats quite typical of any racer they are pretty good people outside of competiteve racing, although they are usually quite introverted, but once behind the wheel they completely transform
You all prolly dont give a damn but does someone know a way to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost my password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
What's wrong with you? Making assumptions that I've never heard of Ferrari or Daytona. I've heard of Le Mans, Daytona 500, Formula 1, Rally, they all have their competitions. I just don't put much attention into those races or even racing for that matter. I can't see the big deal in this. I like Top Gear on BBCA, I like SPEED channel since they have the Barrett-Jackson Auction. I watch Motor Trend Channel on RUclips.
For the record, the "modern" 04-06 GTO is this car. GM owns Holden, and Holden licensed GM the V2/VZ chassis (much to the chagrin of the higher ups in the US side of GM) that the Vauxhall VXR/Holden Monaros are built on. The Fourth Gen Pontiac GTO is a VXR/Monaro with some minor body changes. When the GTO was killed off (presumably citing tightened safety standards), they brought over it's "Full Size" cousin, the VE Commodore as the Pontiac G8, IMHO the GTO's 'grown up' successor. It's built off the VX/VT Commodore Chassis based on the new Opel Zeta platform. They had a short run in the US (2 years) and stopped in 2009. With that being said, It's not surprising that the GTO has drift heritage considering that Holdens are quite often seen in down-under drift competitions.
That was impressive! Those drifters were fun to watch. The closest I ever got to sliding like that was in my Ford Ranger pickup with 5-speed Mazda manual transmission, thin tires, rear wheel drive, and a little rear axle ballast. Gets into controlled, squirrely slides when the weather is wet or snowy. Too much body roll for dry conditions though.
For those who had no idea what Kazama-san said at 5:18 and are curious on what he meant, he said "tanoshi" which its meaning is similar to "this is fun"
When Richard hit the drift and his coach and him got excited and shook hands it was so wholesome. They couldn’t speak the same language but they both were so happy when he nailed it.
They're one and the same. Holden exported their Monaro's to the US and the UK which Vauxhall made into the VXR. Unfortunately for the Aussies it was the last type of Monaro made. The one with the nostrils on the bonnet was locally known as the CV8Z. The last one that rolled of the line was auctioned off for something like AU$160k. Monaro's were brought out before the Commodore's, but the newer re-vamped Monaro's are the Holden Special Vehicle which look like the Commodore, although the Commy is still the poor cousin.
Barrie Tingle GM did not sell Vauxhall, they sold off Saturn, Pontiac, Hummer, and Saab back in 2009 when GM was going down hill. Vauxhall still is producing cars today. Also, I have never heard of a Saturn Vectra. I have heard of an Opel Vectra, but not a Saturn Vectra.
I mean these cars don't have enough camber, steering lock and strong enough handbrake for the job so yeah only 5 second drifting for normal cars. Unless it's Initial D....
in the top gear episode that the test the camaro hammond says "The americans had to go to the australians to get some sophistication" and then said they borrowed components of the manaro for the camaro
It basically is a Holden Monaro, but with this one being a Vauxhall and their tuning name is VXR, Holden's would have been a HSV, going by the fact that this is a modified version of the original.
Yes. We did it. But they must be too scared to bare the Holden name over there, so we are cut of fame. I'm also kinda pissed they stopped making Monaros
You guys aren't understanding my point. Silvia is the legit name of the model from nissan, not referring to their chassis codes. 180sx will always be 180sx and Silvias will be what ever generation you're referring to.
+HoldShiftt2Run to go into drift, you press the clutch or the handbrake, and after that it is just the throttle and the steering wheel.but if you lose the power-you can press the clutch again.but I dont think that happens with this monsters.I've had 325 modified for drift, it was a beast. And I sell it when I got married because it spent 20 liters of fuel. So, the guy bought it, and after five days crashed the car completely. It was an awesome machine.
Tino Macanović So basically they clutch/handbrake, and once into the drift they apply lock and pulse the throttle right? If I build a regular track car, you think it would be good to drift?
Usually people prefer to do it by Handbrake, it's the simplest way. But once you are drifting, it's all braking, accelerating and keeping the car out of control, yet in control.
I know what they're sold as, I'm saying the are originally a Holden Monaro. They then get shipped overseas and put as a Pontiac, Vauxhall, Opel and so on...

Damn. I know that Pontiac GTO is one of the earliest "American" cars modified into drifters, but a STOCK car doing all this? That's awesome!
