Just a little trick you can do with the Christmas Crack is to switch out the Chex Mix for Popcorn. You can even make Popcorn balls with it. You can also make this anytime of the year, not just Christmas.

Next time you do all like this, since you only had the three pans, you could take the wax paper you were sent lay it out in strips on your table and then pour the ingredients out on the wax paper. It’ll make it a little bit easier and you can also make the Christmas candy center and more even, that’s what we do at Christmas
you can melt chocolate chips white or dark using a double boiler also, put water in a pot and put the chips in a metal bowl on top of the water pot while it boils and slowly melt your chips!!!

Unscented kitchen trash bags work well for mixing a large batch of dry components like a party mix.

Hi from another Carol! So much fun watching you both with this recipe! You can change it up for the different holidays with what you use for the cereal and other snacks. I love to add some cinnamon and an little nutmeg into the white chocolate when it is melted before mixing it in. For the spring I will add some finely grated lemon zest into the white chocolate before mixing it into the cereal or popcorn along with the pretzels and nuts if I am using. At Easter time, they make the M&M's in pastel colors and with those and the lemon zest flavor, makes a nice treat for that holiday!

I've made this before but it didn't have M&Ms or peanuts n it. Instead, it had Cinnamon Chex and pecans and it was delicious. Carol, you might want to try that version if you like less sweet.

Just an added note- I use my turkey roaster when making large batches such as this.
You did a pretty good job without a bag. I never use trash bags for this kind of thing though. I use the baking bags sold in stores for baking/roasting a huge whole turkey, pork shoulder or a bunch of veggies at once. If you get the biggest bags, it's usually enough. If I want to make it in a bowl I usually divide each individual ingredient in half first so I know everything is spread out evenly between them. Still, you did a fairly good job for your first time. 😁👍
Best part about this recipe is that it's extremely easy to customize exactly what you want in it. You just need white chocolate, pretzels, a rice or corn cereal that's medium sized and not too sweet (or even both rice and corn cereal) and some kind of chocolate candy (M&M's is traditional but you could use chocolate chips or chunks and you could substitute dark chocolate for milk chocolate to reduce the sweetness). Some people don't even add peanuts (due to allergies) but you can add pretty much any roasted and salted nuts or seeds in there you want, though some you might want to chop up if they're big. 🤷🏻♀️ Pistachios work particularly well, as do pumpkin seeds, cashews, walnuts, almonds, pecans, etc. (yes, I know Recky is allergic to some of those, I'm just giving examples). I know someone who loves to add pieces of peppermint and other candy (like fruit gummies) in there. Some people add mini marshmallows or pieces of dehydrated fruit, even popcorn. You can make it however you want really, as long as you make sure there's always enough salty in there to balance out the amount of sweet things you add. 😉👍 You can experiment with local ingredients in smaller batches easily enough as long as you can get the chocolate. It's actually pretty fun. 😅

1 cup is 8 ounces. So the label on the peanuts would list ounces and you could estimate. Or just dump them all in since peanuts are delicious.

You might be able to freeze it if you want to save some or there's too much left. You could always freeze it (wrapped up well) and then take it out in a few days to see how it does. If it works, then great!

That looked great. One of my nieces makes that for everyone every Christmas. I like Muddy Buddy better but the Christmas trash is good too. Maybe I’ll be able to send ingredients and recipe for those in summer.

@@reckyNcarol Muddy Buddies, otherwise known as Puppy Chow, is another treat made of the Chex cereal but has melted chocolate chips, peanut butter, and regular butter poured over top of it, and then it is shaken in a plastic bag to get the coating evenly around the Chex. Then powdered sugar is put in the bag and once again shaken to evenly distribute the sugar. You guys love peanut butter. You'd love Puppy Chow. It's my favorite of the Chex mix treats you can make.

That Chex mix would taste good with the dark chocolate chips than the white chocolate . White chocolate is way too sweet for me. I prefer dark chocolate. Watching you two taste test for so long I think you would prefer it also. Some of the things you guys try are not that sweet to me but the white chocolate is like eating a bowl of sugar.

Next time you do this, start out with 2 big bowls and just put half the ingredients in each bowl.
I would recommend halving the recipe. Leave the other half to make it again.
