5.10 MTB SHOE. Trailcross - Possibly the most versatile mountain bike shoe.

- Five Ten's new Trailcross collection, developed with Adidas, brings broader versatility to the Five Ten lineup. The Trailcross Mid Pro shown here is aimed at the rider/trail-builder and features increased protection against the rocks that want to attack your ankles and the dirt that wants to attack your socks.
I get the details on this new mountain biking shoe direct from Mike Fucci, a long time member of the Five Ten family.

I'm pretty stoked on this new show from Five Ten and Adidas. I know I could have used it when I was climbing around to film at the Fox US Open. I didn't get to try on the Trailcross, but it felt light and sturdy. If it's anything like the Freerider Pro, it should be a killer mountain bike shoe with added hiking and trail work capabilities.
MTB ALAN hi there how do they size , normally a uk 11 , ? Thank you
Just received my XT and Mid range pairs yesterday. Sending all the love from 🇿🇦
Nice!
Previous ankle injuries in all types of activities over the years have guided my decisions toward mtb footwear. For some time now, I've gone with non mtb specific high top sneakers. Now I want to try these. I've ordered a pair of these (expensive) puppies, and they are on their way.
Right on man. Hope they treat you well! 👊🏽
Love high top shoes can't wait for this
Yo! I've def been a lowtop guy since I switched from Vans Cabs to Halfcalbs back in the day, but these shoes are making me rethink all that.
I come from a motocross background and high quality moto boots are key for me. I can’t believe there isn’t more shoes out there with more protection. I think I’ll order a pair of these to try out.
I hear where you’re coming from. Riding fast on rocky terrain over the last few years, I’ve only once knocked an ankle on a rock early. Still, it’s not bad to have a bit of extra protection. And the Trailcross Mid Pros offer that without much bulk or weight.
Great review man. I’d like to try one on. I like the gator idea to keep more dirt on the trail and less in my shoe.
Yeah, I look forward to seeing how the feel.
My Favorite MTB shoes ever!
🤘🏾
Hey guys or Alan ... those shoes are good for enduro and downhill in the desert ??
💯
Wasn't sold on the design of this shoe when I first saw it, but gotta say it's growing on me.
Same here.
You won’t regret it trust me. Just received the XT and MidPro. I’m still alive coz l didn’t tell my wife how much l paid kikikiki 🤣😂💦
Almost hard to believe that every company doesn’t offer a shoe like this, ankle protection is lacking heavily in the MTB shoe game and I’m very excited to snag a pair of these
I’m looking forward to trying them out as well...though I’ve never had much need for ankle protection. Maybe it comes from my skateboarding background wearing low-tops all the time. 🤷🏽♂️
I've been antsy for the release of this....
It'll be my first purchase in February 😂
Ha! Same. 😆
Just place my order, can't wait to try em.
Oh Dang! Didn't know they were out yet!
@@mtb_alan me neither i was just browsing the internet and i saw them on the website
YES! Hightops to protect my ankles ... I noticed a lot of shinpads don't cover the ankle (well hence the name LoL) and a lot of cycling shoes don't either. Oh I hope this is an advancing trend! :D You don't want to replace expensive compression socks because pedal studs tearing everything up heh
FiveTen has had the Impacts in a hightop for a while now. And it looks like more brands are releasing hightops or midtops.
Come on 5 Ten... Drop those gortex version of the new Trailcross Mids for those of us riding on the East Coast with a lot of stream crossings in our rides!!
Ha! I wonder if they'll do that. The designers were saying they'd rather make the shoe drain and dry really well. But I agree that a winter version of that shoe could be cool. Like an MTB version of the Camp Four (which I think they discontinued).
@@mtb_alan not thinking about a winter version, thinking about a waterproof version to tackle these high streams we have here in the DMV. I demoed them in Sedona too, and the rep said they were coming out in the coming weeks after the release of these. Just pressed to get them and use them as they're Soooo much lighter, more comfortable and most importantly, supportive then the Impacts I have now.
Cool.
When you compared the 3 shoes on price there is a bit of value bias in comparing a high top to low top shoe. The low version of the 5.10 Trailcross comes in at $140, ten dollars less than the Freeride pro. But for what it's worth your review was the convincing it took to buy myself a pair, so thanks mate!
Glad to help. And good point about that price comparison. The LTs might have been a better comparison.
Did he mention how much they were gonna be priced at? I don’t think I heard him say? Shoe is 🔥!! Good vid! 👊🏼
Thanks! He didn’t talk prices but I’m guessing they’ll be priced similarly to the Freerider Pros.
MTB ALAN 👊🏼
$170
I'm seriously considering a pair of these when they come out. Do you know if these are ventilated with mesh the same way as the LT (low top) version of this shoe? My 5.10 Freeriders are good, but they are heavy and way too hot for sunny Socal summer riding.
Not sure if it’s the same as the LT but it did seem pretty well ventilated.
I do like the Freerider Pro over the regular Freerider. Lighter and cooler...and more vibration absorption.
@@mtb_alan Gotcha. 👍
Can't wait to owe one of this shoes any link where i can order it. Ship it to Singapore
They do seem pretty cool. Not sure about Five Ten’s international sales. Sorry.
They could just had a little more protection in the front of the shoe, making sure that even the pinky is safe and they would be perfect
I have fully kicked rocks at full speed in my Trailcross LTs and also have crashed smacking the tops of my feed on rocks, and I can confirm that my pinkies along with the rest of my feet were find. ;)
That's a good looking shoe
I wouldn’t mind putting my foot in it.
@@mtb_alan aayy true that ..
Is it good for Spartan race?
Good question. I can't answer really though since I've never done a Spartan Race. I've only ridden MTB and hiked a bit in them.
Price?
Looks like they just released on the Adidas site. 170USD.
Pain in the arse to get into
Ha! It took me a sec to adjust to the gater.
True to size??
I got a half size smaller than I would get for the Freerider, and that worked.
Not really a fan of the high top, I’m holding out for the trailcross XT mid top version I think it has a cleaner look.
Yeah...I’ve been more of a mid/low top guy. But after a season of shaking Snow Summit dirt and rocks out of my sock, I may reconsider...at least for more DH and shuttle days.
It sucks that Five Ten is now taking fashion tips from Adidas.
They’re still retaining the other lines like the Freerider, Hellcat, etc. Those distinctively Five Ten models are sticking around. At least it seems that way.
Would be concerned about durability, especially the upper part of the shoe. If/when the liner rips, you have those stiff/sharp flaps digging in to your ankles.
Will be good to see how they hold up.
I don't know about this one. I never liked the fit of the freeriders. A little too wide for me.
Copy that. Ever try the Freerider Pros?
@@mtb_alan when I was in the market to switch, I tried the Unparalleled shoes and liked them.
👍🏽
And yet they still didn’t make it waterproof
They chose instead to make it more breathable and to have it shed/drain water and dry quickly. Check out the CRC vid on it. ruclips.net/video/4l0d1s9zSI4/видео.html
Possibly the most ugliest shoe ever
🤔
MTB ALAN I dont like it when MTB shoes look like as if they came straight from the moon... i like iconic styles
