Every thing on your list is awesome. I would add Couple more things like your 1tbspful you got 5, I do the same thing with my individual measuring cups. I put 1cup measuring cups in my flour bin and sugar bin, and rolled oats container. And don't forget the glass measuring cups I love the larger ones 4 cups or the 6 cups ones. Also a scale from Amazon they have one that front of it will come off so if you put a large bowl on it you can still see how much it weigh. It will only weigh up to 11lbs though. Love your videos.
Same for the measuring cups. I have them in the rice bin, flour bin, sugar/allulose bins, salt tub, corn meal jar, wheat, dried lentil, and bean bins, coffee grounds. Also one for the dog food bin. I have a set in the laundry room. I even use a set of the measuring cups for outside/garage uses for fertilizer, etc….
Yes! It's ridiculous how many times I've found a teaspoon in the baking soda! I've had multiple sets in use for years, works great to have a wet and dry measuring spoon for a day of baking.
Thank you for sharing you favorite kitchen items! I really like your spice jar idea as I buy my spices in bulk. I will also get the books I don’t have. 😀👍👍👍💕🌸
Fan.Tast.Tic. video. I concur with almost everything on your list. I am just not an All American fan. It's just too heavy when there are hernia-free alternatives. 🙂 LOVE the oil separator... Game changer here, too. The lid lifter can sometimes be found in antique stores as a pry-a-lid.... Great tool. I got mine for a quarter! I have wondered alot about your spice jars. They are in my Amazon cart already. Thank you!
I got the electric pressure cooker a couple months ago on sale with almost a hundred dollars off. It is awesome. First thing I canned was stew. I saw your soups video and would like to try those. After Thanksgiving I should have bones for broth to can. So glad I bought it. I was able to leave it and go pick up my great grandkids from school. It does the cool down and release all by itself.
Presto electric canner, one can’t go wrong with it, especially beginners(even for habitual canners) who are petrified of pressure canning, this one will remove all fears. We are planning to buy another one (over all American canner, simply bc we couldn’t prevent steam from escaping during the pressure they are good no doubt), that’s how good it is. Hope this message will encourage all who’d want to try pressure canning to feed their family with superior foods. YOU KNOW WHAT ALL YOU PUT IN THEM, having to attempt to read on store bought ingredients one cannot even pronounce, you must know it can’t be good! This young lady’s info is very helpful.
I bought a Harvest Multi-Use Canner. It’s for water bath, steam canning, and also a stock pot. Two racks. One for water bath and one for steam canning. I love it, such a space saver. Also, back in 2015 I bought an All American 921 - $197.
Wendy, that sounds like a great product. I'll link it here in case anyone wants to check it out: amzn.to/3H38ktR. Wow to your AA price! That's a heck of a deal. I don't ever remember AA prices that low. Good for you!
Great Ideas; I will take one of everything, minus a couple of things I already have. I got the idea for the items I do have from your videos. I am all about practical gifts. Thank you for the inspiration.
Thank you for this. I just recently found your channel. I tried canning once before when I was younger and didn’t stick to it. I really want to give it a try again. I love your channel!
Hi Carter, that's a great list, especially for new canners. I did order the lid opener. I love my steam water bath canner for the same reasons you mentioned. I have 2 additional items you didn't mention. The Press and Seal.... it is a gadget that lets you vacuum seal jar lids that are too big for the lid attachment... like gallon jars. You can also use recycled jars like pickle and jelly jars for dried goods as long as the lid has that silicone strip inside the lid. Those reused jars are only for dried goods, like flour, sugar, cereal, etc. Not for home canning. The other is the steamer juicer. I never thought I needed one until this year's bumper crop of oranges. Then I thought: I could use it for grape juice, elderberry, etc. I bought an extra pot that replaces the juicer colander pot and it becomes a water distiller: removes heavy metals, salt, etc from any water. All you need is heat. I bought the VKP brand. There are cheaper ones on Amazon but I don't know if they would have the extra pot for the conversion. It is sustainable because no replacement filters are needed. You only need water and heat. VKP didn't have the pots in stock, so they tore down a complete set to send me the part I needed. Amazing customer service. Just FYI. Thank you for your great ideas and your super recipes! Love from the Mississippi coast.
That was terrific, Carter! I’m a practical gift person, too, and while I have many of the items you showcased, there were some new ones that will be going on my list as well!! Many thanks!!
I love shallow bowls like that! I got 2 random ones from a local store to try them out--loved them--so now I want more, so I'll put the Dowan ones on my list!
Thank you for your list, it's great! I prefer practical gifts that make my life easier. I broke down and bought the jar lid opener a month ago. Pricey, yes, to me it's worth it. The chopper is wonderful especially because i have arthritis in my hand. The electric pressure canner is definatly on my wish list this year. Love the fact I can use it on my table not taking up the valuable real estate in my kitchen. Although I love my instant pot canning cycle, its only good for small batches and doesn't take qts. 😊
Thank you for going that extra mile my Bestie. You're absolutely correct on that. I would rather have something I can use than something landing in a drawer in the far back. Thank you for sharing 💐🙏🏻🇺🇲
Thanks! I hope to do some canning of "leftovers", but at this point, I'm not sure there will be any. I reserved a turkey yesterday, but could only get one mid-size turkey. The first place I tried was completely sold out of mediums and larges. Hopefully there will be plenty for everyone and I can grab a second later just for canning.
Great video. Tks! I guess I'll try adding the steam canner to my Christmas list lol. I know I want a new immersion blender! Mine is a cuisinart but to use you have to push two buttons. One on the top and then the speed on the side. Hope you are doing well! My freeze dryer is still running, found celery for 99 cents and mushrooms for 99 cents at aldis. I am seriously considering dehydrating some pinto beans as I have some that are now hitting the ten year mark and I'm afraid they will not soften when cooked. So I am going to soak over night then cook them, then dehydrate for quick beans later. And have a very happy Birthday if I miss it later.
Thanks, Connie! I can definitely see how the two button thing would be awkward. Of course your freeze dryer is still running! Mine has shipped but no idea where it is at the moment. Question for you: the medium says it is 25" deep. if I get a 24" table for it, will it sit on it safely, or do I need a wider table?
Awesome list Carter! I wanted to ask you about your spice jars but thought that would be weird so thank you for sharing, I ordered several items from your list tonight! Btw stopped by Publix tonight and got all my ingredients for your bbq sauce, beans and pulled pork sandwich recipe, will be happily busy canning tomorrow. ❤ from Tennessee
Great information & it’s nice to see a video about all your favs. Some fabulous ideas for gift giving. I enjoy your channel a lot, I tend to can very similar to how you do it.
Very helpful. Thanks, Carter. I have added a few things to my Wish List. If I don’t get them for Christmas, I’ll get them for New Year for myself. 😊 Have you ever thought about putting out a canning book?
I really love Angi Schneider’s pressure canning book. Her baked beans are the bomb. Now I’m completely out, because everyone I shared them with has asked for more 😅 Also, when I have the option to order recipe books spiral bound, I usually spend the extra money on that. BTW, I still use my $6 Ball Blue Book. Thanks for such a comprehensive review of so many products, and sharing your tips for ways to use them. Happy New Year, Carter 🎉
Happy New Year, Wendy! Angi's book is quite good. isn't it. The baked beans are delish! You're probably wise to get the spiral bound cookbooks, but they generally are much pricier. I've heard folks take regular books to Staples to have them spiral bound. I wonder if that's more or less expensive?
Hello Carter! I too absolutely love ❤️ my electric Presto! However in Canada, we cannot get any type of guaranty. I had to be creative to get around that but it is absolutely the best gift I have received from my family!
Great video I found my lid opener on Amazon the other day for $13 something. You’ve given me some great ideas . I have the Nesco 9.5 electric canner and love it I used it today to can chicken, pork and ham .🙂
Oh darn! Carter, I ordered the spice shelf right from you Amazon page and the one linked is too deep to go into a standard 12" deep wall cabinet! I assumed it would fit since you have it in your cabinet. I work in a kitchen showroom and have sold cabinets for 23 years. 12" deep is standard for wall cabinets. Will have to send this one back to Amazon.
Aww. So sorry! The lazy Susan in my overhead cabinet is 11.5". The riser shelf in my pantry is 12.5" deep. I probably didn't give you enough of a look at my pantry to see what I'm working with. My pantry shelves are 15" deep. So very sorry.
Love this idea! It's great to have someone we trust to tell us about the products they love. Your pantry makes my heart happy but where do you find the labels? Do you make them yourself? If so what is the brand and size you buy?
Hey, Digit! You do not want the labels I used. I really don't like them and the off-brand software that came with them produces non-uniform results. You'll be better off picking pretty much anything else on Amazon! Mine are 3"x2".
Thanks for a great video. I just came across your channel. This isn’t in reference to this video but the potato dry can. What is the purpose of the oil on the potatoes? Keep the videos coming
Welcome, Swampmom! The oil serves a couple purposes...to keep the potatoes from sticking together (if peeled), and to help maintain the integrity of the potato so it doesn't completely dry out or flake.
Your link for the jar lid vacuum sealer bring up a different Nutri-Seal premium sealer. It's a bigger size model. We had some like it (not Nutri-Seal) and they did not work. We are hesitant to get another similar sealer. Is there a sealer similar to the one you recommend?
Interesting! I agree that I have not had good luck so far with the 2 piece black sealers. This looks like the small white one I have, just a different seller: amzn.to/3SE9Jwp. Do note that as I type this, there's a box to check for 40% off. I will change the links in my storefront. Thanks so much for letting me know!
I have the steam canner and love the fact that it uses so little water, but when the weather is cold, every window gets steamed up and I have to wipe the window frames.
I am in Michigan where it has been cold for over a month now. Perhaps you are in a warmer, dryer climate? I have found that I really like the Presto Electric digital canner, my first pressure canner and have done a bit of waterbath canning in it.
Your Prince in waiting Ma'am !!! LOL FYI, Tell your husband I built you a green house to use year round !!! Thank you, Jacquelyn! My pleasure!
Finally, I am making my wish list on Amazon, and driving the husband crazy. One thing on my list is the Danish dough whisk.
Oh, that's a good one!
I love the lid opener, worth every bit of the 25 I paid for it.
love my presto electric canner as well, man did It up my canning game.
Agreed!
Practicality is always a win! None of us need more "junk", so gifting (and receiving) items that we can use are my favorite! Great video!
Absolutely!! Thanks, Lois!

Thanks, Karen. It has it's moments, and not all of them are pretty!
Steam canned was a canning game changer ... expanded my water bath inventory
Excellent suggestion, Lesley!
Those spice jars are fantastic! The perfect size that I needed, I love repurposing things 💜

I really love Angi Schneider’s pressure canning book. Her baked beans are the bomb. Now I’m completely out, because everyone I shared them with has asked for more 😅

Ditto. On both counts!

Carter do you can sausage patties
I haven't done patties, but only because we don't eat them very often. I would can them though!
That fat separator would be good for pancakes too.
Good thought! I wonder if the release hole is large enough for something thick like a pancake batter. I'll have to check!
🇦🇺Can you give a tutorial on the steam canner as I’m unsure how to use it.
I'll put that on my list, Penny!
I have the steam canner and love the fact that it uses so little water, but when the weather is cold, every window gets steamed up and I have to wipe the window frames.
Interesting! I have far less steam escape from the steam canner than I do the big water bath canner.
I am in Michigan where it has been cold for over a month now. Perhaps you are in a warmer, dryer climate? I have found that I really like the Presto Electric digital canner, my first pressure canner and have done a bit of waterbath canning in it.
