Great reaction. I LOVE this song and love when new people are shocked by his voice. I've lost count of how many times I've heard this and still get chills
It's been said in a number of different places that Paul Simon himself absolutely loves this version of his classic and iconic song, so I think that says everything. David Draiman's voice is absolutely wonderful, strong and powerful whilst at the same time being soft and emotional., and of course backed up by some amazing musicians. When you see how many people have already viewed the original video, you see just how popular this particular version is around the world.
Supposedly he's pissed they used auto-tune on Conan 'just in case'. He sat for that performance because of his illness, but still belted it into orbit - amazing singer. More importantly, Paul Simon reached out to him to say it's his favourite cover, ever. Game Over.
Best way I've heard it put as well. What I really love about it, is that this cover, while every bit as awesome as the original, doesn't overshadow the original. It's almost as though they are two separate songs, equally as awesome in their own way.
Two very different interpretations and inflections giving the listener two very different emotional connections . I loved the original then and now understand it’s deeper full meaning in today’s world . 💙🎶🎶
@@billmafturack8189 Every bit as relevant. I been wondering how people reacted to the original when it dropped for the first time. When they had nothing to compare it to

Great reaction! It's so nice to see a reaction by someone else who remembers the original well. David Draimin's voice is mind blowing. The band's orchestral arrangement enriches the listener's journey through the song. Regardless of the which of their versions I listen to, I get chills every time without fail.
I'm so happy I found your channel! I'm about your age, I love great music and I'm a wine drinker. It's only red wine for me though. The very first time I heard this I was floored. I resisted for years hearing this cover but once I did I was ashamed I waited so long to listen to it. They are so respectful of the original while completely making this their own. Just beautiful. Looking forward to more of your content!
I just discovered your channel. I love reaction channels but yours hit me today because it brought back memories of my mom that passed away in 2017. You remind me if her. She loved music of all kinds. And was always willing to give a chance to songs that I would suggest to her. She was also a musician. Played piano for as long as I remember and even had a band with my stepdad, who passed not long before her, and I even played with them sometimes. I remember showing her this version of sound of silence not long before she passed. She loved it of course. She was of course a fan of Simon and Garfunkel and introduced me to so many groups as I was growing up. I'm 50 now. Still miss her every day. Everytime I watch channels like this I still think to myself, I need to show my mom this. Then realize I can never do that again. Sorry for the long comment, but it just reminded me if her seeing your reactions to all kinds of music. And she loved wine too. Lol. Thank you for your content it's great. Keep going. Music keeps me going. I lost my disabled son in August. He was only 28. He loved music too. And I just hope he's up there with my mom watching over me and my 2 daughters and grandkids that she only got to meet one of. Sorry again for the book I just wrote. But just felt I needed to write to you. Hope you read this. And thank you. Keep it up. Much love! ❤️
the band is Disturbed and they are actually a metal band. this has to be one of my fave songs from them by far they have done some cover songs other than this one there is at lest a few others songs he done where he somewhat slowed it down and put more into it to get the point acrossed their music usually mean something. their usual sound is "Down with the Sickness" David Draiman is classically trained
This is an interesting cover ! I remember Simon and Garfunkle's version so well, and it's interesting to hear another more contemporary version 🙂🎵👍. Thanks for a nice reaction!
Not sure if you realize but David Draimon is the lead singer to a heavy metal band. The lyrics really came coo life more than Simon and Garfunkel. David illustrated how we speak but not talk listen but not hear. Isn’t this true about society today? Lastly, musicians are on one side, the masses on the other. But alas, music brings us together
Being so familiar with the original, you would probably really enjoy the live version of Disturbed in Houston featuring Myles Kennedy. The harmonies are great.
The live Conan version is even more impressive. You might want to just have a couple of spare bottles on hand after that one. It is said that Simon and Garfunkel's version was the warning and Disturbed's version was the rage that it wasn't heeded.
Great job on on this reaction. It's good to see u are getting comfortable with generating content. Request: shinedown simple man Its another cover hope u like. Cheers
I would agree, Great reaction Cash! The black & white aspect spoke volumes about the actual meaning of this classic song! Telling a very visual story, Near the end of the video you were trying to make out all the people in the background, The Musician's on one side of the water & The song writer's on the other side, Showing the division of what the song is actually about But then at the end the big ship arrives & is what Brought the musician's & song writer's together as one! I'm old enough that Paul & Art's version really is the one as many other's have covered the song but No one has done a decent cover of the song, Til now Disturbed not only brought this classic back but made you experience the true meaning of the song While David sang his heart out! The man can sing... Very cool that you enjoyed this cover & Also happy that you did... Kevin
I’m kind of older. I grew up listening to The Sound of Silence album. My parents played it and loved it. Now I’m 62. Simon and Garfunkel’s version cannot be beat. But- this is a whole other take on this song. Not as good as the original, but it’s GOOD. Powerful and very emotional.
Experience. That's the only word to describe this song. You don't dance to it, you don't just listen to it, you experience it. S&G gave us the lyrics, David Draiman gave us the warning.
I just found your channel one reaction ago (you did Pink Floyd- Time) I'm willing to bet before watching this that you bring out the whole bottle. I'm 67, and as good as I thought the original was, this version moved to my favorite of the two after my first time hearing it.
Great reaction. You should check out Falling in Reverse's "I'm not a vampire revamped" they took one of their old songs and reimagined it to a surprising result.

Hi Cash, this is one I have seen on another reaction channel (that may contain the words 'Son', 'Father', and 'and') and I said I was getting Viking vibes but found out from computer they were from Chicago. The song I know is an old classic from 1964, not one of my favourites but I liked what Disturbed did with it. Disturbed had previously done a cover of the Genesis song Land Of Confusion, so I would recommend either version of that song as a reaction because both official videos are very interesting, maybe even a double header reaction if you're up for it? I usually check UK chart stats for these things and Sound Of Silence did okay, it reached #29 in 2016. Land Of Confusion was not so successful at #79 in 2006, Genesis did better at #14 in 1986. Another half glass for me, cheers.
50 + years ago, Simon & Garfunkel released this song as a warning. DISTURBED re-released it in anger, that the warning was never heeded. peace??? (I wonder?)...
I love ur reaction I subscribed just now and hell ya I got my 50 year port out for a morning of reaction time with David Draimen and all the reactions just for fun of it !

The version they did live on Conan is EPIC

The version is pure gold!

That live version is EPIC. Being an S&G fan as well, the cover took awhile to grow on me. The live version on Conan NAILED IT for me.
Agree. That is the one that should be reviewed. Both version are great though.
This one's so emotionally and vocally powerful and makes me cry every time. I never thought about the whole black and white thing.

Great reaction... I love the version of this song... Please react to Pentatonix version. It is so good.
