    I just want to know what in bloody hell happened to us? This was US, proud, fierce, strong, unstoppable and American above all!
    What the hell happened, we lose, retreat, fight among ourselves, let once our greatest enemies over take us and then congratulate them... what has changed?
    Do you know what gives you liberty to ask that question openly, to protest if something ain't to your liking?
    Your fathers and grandfathers that had to sacrifice, sometimes even life and limb so you can say what you want.
    And then somebody will burn the flag and say "I'm doing this to save America!".
    Well thanks, but that ain't the America that i wanna live in.

    • @danteortiz8436
      @danteortiz8436 7 лет назад +11

      The america i live in my reality is as a soldier i had brothers, brothers i could count on to give me 200% and i would give the same we would give more if we had to.. we respected what and who we were as a team and as individuals..
      in the civilian world in the america i was defending protecting giving honor to didnt honor me bc of the color of my skin and the history of this country did not bode well for my people... and thats the america that exists a place where opportunity can be taken away based on what you are not who you are and what you can become.... so my loyalities lie with my regiment.. my love lies with those that fight for the freedom we want to exist for us.. the liberties that are not granted to every man.. so remember that when you talk about america and it being great there are levels to its greatness that are not great for all of its people...

      Obama, liberals and globalist ideals are trying to tamp down that American spirit because they realize an America full of spirited Americans will never bend the knee to globalist rule. So now the left along with Hollywood, paints a picture of sensitive feelings, of promoting the weak and shaming the masculine strong and successful. Fear not though, because with the election of trump, America is saying to the world that we are done with this candyass leftist idea of what this nation will be and we are taking it back to make it the country our grandfathers lived in. The American spirit will no be broken.

    Makes me more proud that I have served. My check today may not come from the US Military, but I am still serving. Some of these actors say stupid shit, some of these actors have gone home, but what they represent should carry on to all of us--IN all of us. I hope to never again hear a shot fired in anger, but if I do, I know I will have my brothers with me to return that shot fired in anger. While the scenes above make me sad, remember those that I lost, couldn't save, and those others, after, that have been sent home, I will not give up. I will not falter. I will not put my flag away. I still serve.

    I know there's going to be a lot of sniping in the comments (See below) but I want to speak more to the emotion embodied here. The Patton speech--even the abridged Hollywood version--is enough to stiffen one's spine, as it represents the real determination so many service members feel. A lot of the scenes pictured portray a somewhat gritty, unhappy state of affairs in the conflicts we've fought in the past. Needless to say, not all of these were particularly "winning" conflicts in the strategic sense. Nevertheless, I don't think there's anyone who doesn't take a sense of pride in their service, after watching this and perhaps remembering those who have come before.

    The Battle of Mogadishu or Day of the Rangers (Somali: Maalintii Rangers), was part of Operation Gothic Serpent and was fought from 3-4 October 1993, in Mogadishu, Somalia, between forces of the United States-supported by UNOSOM II-and Somali militiamen loyal to the self-proclaimed president-to-be Mohamed Farrah Aidid, who had support from armed civilian fighters. The battle is also referred to as the First Battle of Mogadishu, to distinguish it amongst the nine major Battles of Mogadishu during the decades long Somali Civil War.
    The initial U.S. Joint Special Operations force, Task Force Ranger, was a collaboration of various elite special forces units from Army Special Operations Command, Air Force Special Operations Command and Navy Special Warfare Command. Task Force Ranger was dispatched to seize two of Aidid's high-echelon lieutenants during a meeting in the city. The goal of the operation was achieved, though conditions spiraled into the deadly Battle of Mogadishu. The initial operation of 3 October 1993, intended to last an hour, became an overnight standoff and rescue operation extending into daylight hours of 4 October.
    Now i found this on wiki and was wondering how true it is and if some one can explaine to me rather or not this would be considered a war or battle ? cause there was alot of death also i was born in 93 soo it,s very intresting to me

    • @johnmclaughlin3217
      @johnmclaughlin3217 7 лет назад +12

      Jeb Hampton it was considered a major battle during the US operation in Somalia at the time. The U.S 75th Rangers and the Delta operators were so effective at combatting the Somali resistance that in Somalia that day is known as the "Day of the Rangers"

    • @christopherlong6310
      @christopherlong6310 7 лет назад +3

      Jeb Hampton there's a website devoted to the battle I believe it's thebattleofmogsdishu.com I forget I wasn't born until 97 but I'm from Pennsylvania and it amazed me to see how many of the fallen were from pa and were special forces the website has all that kinda stuff on it. It's an amazing site. The movie came out 2001 I believe I remember watching it on tv and just became enthralled by it and those men I studied it I red the book I'd suggest the book jeb if your really into it the book is written from first hand accounts Somalians and US soldiers alike gave their testimonies to the writer before he published it so you really get a good feel for the actual event. The movie does ok but they changed some things because the writer who was a big part in the filming process even wanted you to care for each and every man but it's hard to do that with so many of them. But the real Eversman was on site during filming he said it was so realistic he had to take a minute. Ok last think this I found great when you see a guy flinch in the movie haha that's because the actors were legitimately being shot at with like pellet guns and such to ya know keep their reactions to incoming fire more real. Ive done lots of studying on the subject of the battle. And we'll the rangers in general that's my life's dream is to be a ranger and be in the 375 just like those who were in that city.

    I like it. Makes me tear up a bit, but there is a ton of american emotion packed into this video. Each few seconds flashes another character of another movie and carries some enormous weight of that films poignant theme about men and women in our country's military, or of it's bloody and hard-earned independence and freedoms. When played over Patton's infamous speech, especially considering George Scott's outstanding performance in that movie and every point that film tried to make, I just tear up. The ideas behind American democracy are worth fighting for and this video, as do the films, make you think about the men and women who have got us this far.

    This has been forgotten on this millennial generation. We went from giving it all to win to everybody’s a winner. I don’t have to try and I still get a prize, and the old breed wonders why we are so weak now. I pray everyday we return to the old ways before the rest of the world figures out how weak we have become. Only a few remain standing, holding the line. I will remain on the line till I am no longer physically able to do so. Semper Fi

    This is what made America the super power it is.....our absolute need to win. When I speak of what our WW2 vets did for the world, not just our Country, people look at me like I'm crazy. Our wars today are different. We fight with advanced weaponry. Our thinking, our tactics are different. We take extreme measures to not cause collateral casualties. We are disadvantaged by this but still go in thinking we will win. And we do.

    Had family that fought in the Revolutionary War. Cousins during the Civil War on both sides. At least 1 was in the Union while 3 relatives were in the South where at Gettysburg 2 died during Picket's Charge. They were common soldiers of the Confederacy. As far as they were concerned they were merely fighting in the defense of their homes. Anyone reading this who decides to take issue with that...tough shit! Untold thousands of people living in US have ancestors that fought on "the other side". They still served. Live with it. Deal with it. Move on.
    A Great Grandpa on my dad's side died in the Ardennes (1918) during WW1 as part of the US Expeditionary Force. Killed by a German grenade...which according to what I was told he leapt onto to protect the guys near him. In WW2 another cousin (mom's side) went down on the Arizona. The son (born 1914) of the Grandfather that died in WW1 served in WW2 in Europe during the mid-war and was later after the German surrender slated to be in the 2nd wave invasion of Japan. The 2 bombs being dropped kept any of that from ever happening and lived on until 1997. My dad served during Vietnam...joined voluntarily before the draft kicked in...served in EOD and fortunately was never deployed overseas. More recently a young family friend who is barely 30...served at least 2 full tours that I can recall, in Iraq after we went over there for the 2nd time.
    I'd just started a 2-yr college stint after high school in 2001 when the tower's were hit. Between dad's own reservations though about politics based on his own experiences and of the current of time among other things & dislike for the very high ups that pull the strings that result in all too many unneeded soldiers being killed, it kept me out of joining. It was never a matter of dislike for the military by him...just those in control. In retrospect though I wish I had joined. In more than one place I heard from those who served that while there were oft times they wished they were anywhere else...that they would still be missed.

      Shit, watch another True Story; not shown here; Hacksaw Ridge.
      The high point of the movie was only one day of fighting. It seemed to last a lot longer than that after all was said and done. Watch the end for monologues from the real men who fought during those moments in the movie. Very moving when the Congressional Medal of Honor is awarded for the bravery and courage. Ldrship Hooah!

    We are a free nation. Our people are rarely taken into battle against their will.
    But like it or not, we'll still be remembered as a warrior people. More likely, we won't be remembered - we'll be known.

    There's no way to know what you're getting into when you join. There is no way I could understand then what I do now. I've missed my innocence ever since. I love everyone who fought and suffered and struggles now due to exposures. Keep moving.
