Oh, you mean your shop won't hand-grind a Gilson base, the way they say people should, since no belt machine in the world can work with their 3D shaping? I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you 😆
I was about to buy one yesterday. Yes I’m green, this will be my first brand new board. But good thing I came across this might have saved me some money.
Watched someone at my local mountain eat shit over the weekend trying to jump off a rock with one of these. Hope he decided to get rid of it after that.
I'd like to see a review after you've tried the actual board instead of just talking about it. I've had ZERO issues riding the soft edge technology for years. They also have boards without the soft edge technology if you don't like it... The soft edge has zero effect on the efficacy of the board's edge control and is easy to ride.
@@AngrySnowboarder I’ll probably just detune the contact points and leave the rest sharp. I don’t really boardslide rails so I’m not so worried about catching up on some big rails.
I bought something from Gilson once. It was a pair of Union Stratas cause the entire internet was sold out and they were the only place that had them in stock
You win no more hammer talk! Actually passed on the Ns and went with the 2022 Bsod. I figured I'd try and get a rise out you! Thanks for the helpful reviews btw!
I was just at high cascade and a kid was talking about how his board made by a small snowboard brand was so good and better than anyone else’s board… I looked at the base when he sat to put on his bindings and it was a Gilson. Needless to say he was a horrible snowboarder
Lol no lawsuits here. Pretty used to it at this point! I just think he should have me on the show. I bet it would be a good episode… You know how to reach me dude!
The cross section that you showed is some of the most suspect looking crap I've ever seen, one side is edge high, the other is base high, the grains in the wood are nowhere close to similar so it won't flex the same, and like you said the bevels are all wack- but kooks love them because they can get one that matches the sports jersey they're rocking on the hill.
I rode a board with this same tech about 15 years ago from a brand called Olive (small skateboard deck company from Alberta who dipped into the snowboard market for a very short period). Let me just say there is a reason no other brands caught onto this garbage.
As a PA boarder. I plan to try one. But I called the guy out 2 years ago when he started this bull $h!t idea. I can't say I'm a huge fan of any of the 3D technology. Frankly as an east coast rider we don't get enough POW to bother.
Step rails like that work wonderfully on kayaks on wake boards, but seriously, on a snowboard? Imagine there's a terrifying 'zone of nothing' when you're balancing on the edge of the step, but have no grip from the rails.

Yeah, because the factory burned to the ground. If you can't build a product it's better to say sold out than "we are experiencing manufacturing difficulties".
Anything from late 07 to 2014 is solid. If it’s pre 07 that’s when Ford ran them and had the 2.5 liter 5 cylinder motor snd that’s crap. Anything post 2014 you’re dealing with cheap electronics courtesy of Geely and it’s crap.
@@AngrySnowboarder I just replaced a motor on a 2016 Ford edge that blew a head gasket inside it look like a thick can of animal style thousand island salad dressing. 🤣
When people would come to the shop with one of these for any base work I loved telling them the best option was to throw it away and start over.

Their boards suck ass.
Wait should I bevel edges on a new camber board until I get used to it then sharpen and angle it back up?
If you're really worried detune the contact point. If you're really anal put a bevel on it and leave it on for the life of the board.
