Next, we have a quick look around on deck and the beautiful area around my anchorage and discuss the mess that the ospreys leave on Deck
Lastly we look at the requirement to get the boat sailing ready for the Fastnet race which begins here today with connecting up to the shore power and getting the batteries charged.

We entered the Fastnet 2025 at the weekend - now it’s time to start getting the boat ready! Please like, share & subscribe to help grow the channel :)
I can’t believe I just found your channel, I’ve never raced but still found useful info in every video… starting to watch the oldest videos and picking the eyes out them. Thanks Alacrity
Always enjoy your content Chris, look forward to hearing Trevor’s origin story!
Ah ha! Yes - I will admit now that I did not name Trevor myself - I am carrying that name forward on behalf of the previous owner -BUT even second hand - it’s a pretty good yarn for a dinghy name :)
Awesome new project Chris! Yes please, just do what you do! The series on reviving your other boat and bringing it back from France was AWESOME!!!!! Your content is entertaining, very interesting and educational! Solar cells on the diagonal, looks better!
Great stuff as always!!!!!!!
Many thanks! More content to come soon!
Love your approach to doing youtube videos 😊😊😊
I am feeing very liberated to do whatever I want with YT in 2025 as I have stopped worrying about what others think and am now just doing this to talk to subscribers and patrons:) thanks so
Much for your support - making that possible :)
i do love educational moments.
Me too- and this time I even got to keep my eyebrows !
Nice to see such a cheap solution for cooking 😊
I had just had enough of $1000 stoves and all the cleaning and messing about ….. if I put a dollar a day in a jar every second month I can buy a new stove! They also
Make hot plate and hot pot versions of this stove - oh the possibilities!!!!
Very cool
I love your user
name😂
*note to self*
Must use ‘it’s all gone to custard’ more in dire situations - may alleviate sense of doom.
Sterno fuel better for backup.
Very cool nice boat I want to go do something like that
You can sail Fastnet on this boat with me - details will be coming up soon- only 15 places left (of 24).
Trevor?
I hear you :) next time I will tell the story … it involves a submarine and a canary….
@@CSMtheMariner Haha excellent! btw as bicycle courier the fastnet is a bit too rich for me (unfortunately), but if you have use for crew shared cost basis (food, diesel and marina's) on a delivery leg from Nova Scotia to the solent, let me know!?
I love algorithms!
Right! I used to be into the eurythmics -now it’s the algorithms!
I recommend a 1000 watt Honda generator
11 kg, 1/4 litre per hour, available in 120v or 240 v.
Can$1100.
COOL video.... ;-)
I think this is going to be fun sharing this journey with everyone! First thing we have to do though is get the new diesel heater fitted !
Butastic! Thanks Chris
My pleasure and much more to
come- we have a lot to do before the Fastnet!
Do you have a wind turbine for charging?
Hmm.. good idea. I have used them on boats in the past but it’s always difficult to I corporate them into the ‘aesthetic’ of a race boat … However, at the mooring it really would be a one shot solution…
SuperWind has a great system that can run across a huge range of wind speed.
What have you found to be the best regimen with wind gens whilst at long term moorings- can they be left unattended for long periods or does that present problems?
@@CSMtheMariner Most people will leave this model unattended when away, but wonder if anyone had negative experiences with this.
use a calor gaz propane Bottle out side on deck you can buy propane/butane mix butane freezes down propane does not freeze thats why Travelers use red propane bottles on there caravans
Yes! I had an exterior cooking arrangement available on the Trimaran ‘Spirit’ that I sailed a few years ago - very pleasant hunkered down in the cockpit frying bacon…. Not so much shelter on this boat but a wise precaution to avoid gas in the bilges and ‘pops’ such as this one!
press subscribe like done! great stuff
channel, please grow :)
Let our powers combine!!
Any love for kerosene stoves?
I mention that briefly- I have actually cooked A LOT with kerosene stoves on boats and in my podcast ‘The Mariner’s Library’ every story features them - when I worked for Outward Bound - it was the only option BUT … the fact remains that if you get kerosene on your clothes and it wicks into the fabric of your clothing and catches fire - it can burn deeply, and whilst historically people were wearing wool which is fire retardant- modern fleeces etc just melt immediately, are impossible to remove as everything is dripping boiling slag and the result at injuries are .. terrible to witness.
I’m all in with this butane option, up from there is propane gas in small individual bottles, up again is (water extinguishable) alcohol, then propane in big tanks and only then as a last resort kerosene :/ BUT I do miss the smell, the history and the cleaning power of kero 👍
@@CSMtheMariner Thank you sir! Now I remember you mentioning that... break a leg out there in the race.
The clearance between the gas stove and the overhead cabinet is inadequate and would not even meet the fire code for a residential kitchen…
There is Not enough clearance overhead, and no exhaust fan.
Osprey - pellet gun should help.
Get a 1000 watt Honda generator, weights 12 kg, burns 1/2 litre per hour.
🥶
