I was player 1 for this duet about 7 years ago. We got a Superior grade on it, one of my favorite pieces ever. And man do I feel old now. Nice job to these guys.
I just got done playing this song for a competition. I have to say they did one hell of a job at it! Still trying to get it down that fast for state. Give them my props
That's because their instructor used that exercise to write that for them; they just used part of it to get used to the room acoustics and get comfortable.
Sorry but they definitely don't have it anymore - this was about 5/6 months ago and after they played it, they left it alone. I don't have the music, I just videotaped them playing it. Aplologies
Sorry I haven't gotten back to you, but yeah, the best advice I can give you is to practice a lot. I know they started really early and got it so they had memorized the piece. I'm sure by now you've already done that, but nevertheless. Good luck too!
Wow dude, that's retarded - you should be able to play whatever you want. Solo and Ensemble isn't something used to help teachers enlighten students, it's about students playing things they like to discover their own talent and ability. That's why they give out ratings so that the player can figure it out themselves. Screw band directors like that. Keep drumming kid.
Thanks! We took first place competing against kids who were YEARS older than us...oh the look on our faces. It helped to hear it. Kudos to this post!

No I was filming and I just put this up for them. I played snare at UCF and at West Orange High, not tenors.
I've played both. The parenthesis indicated muting (shortening/canceling) the sound with using your hand.
There's a lot of different versions/names. For instance, on the drumline here at UCF we play something similar called "13."
Yep, Orlando.
Very well done! Me and a friend are playing this for the American Guild of Music in April. Any tips?
Sorry it took so long to respond, for some reason - the reply and comment function was down for a while.
Good job guys

wow i like this i almost played it but my band director would only let us do marching solos if we did a grade 6 concert solo lmao
Yeah I thought I messaged you back... I said that they're probably indicating some type of crossover.
