    I think this finally puts the ATEM Mini Pro on my gear list...because now I can pretty much get everything a “full featured” ME would give (program out + multi view simultaneously) in a budget package! This was the missing niece I was waiting for!
    And for everyone asking how long the lag is on this...just watch the video! With the loop back on input 4, you can see the response time from button press to image on screen.

    Did you notice any latency or color degradation in your HDMI chain?
    Did you have to add few frames of audio delay because of the extra monitor? I am a bit concerned by adding an extra thing in the HDMI chain that may alter color or add latency.

    I bought the Feelworld (Seetec?) monitor from your link and have one issue that you might be interested in. I can't feed my Mac HDMI (1080p/60 fps) into the ATEM Mini thru the monitor and show it in program output from the ATEM Mini. I made it work (kind of) by plugging the Mac HDMI into port 1 (no other ports work) and restart the Mac AFTER plugging the cables into the ATEM via the monitor and make sure that all cameras were set to the same resolution and frame rate as the Mac (1080p/60). After restarting the Mac, it still did not work until I set the monitor to HDMI 1 full screen and then switch back to the quad-view. It's a monitor pass thru issue because the program out on the ATEM works as expected when plugging the Mac directly into any port on the ATEM. Bottom line: use another monitor for program out or preview if you want to show what's on the Mac. I don't have a PC so I don't know if this is an issue for a PC.

    • @carlseiler
      @carlseiler 4 года назад +1

      Hi, I also had the same issue, Using a MacBook Pro with a MiniDP to HDMI converter (I also tried a MiniDP to Dvi to HDMI and same result). The Mac picture worked when inputted straight to the ATEM Mini but not when through the monitor. A PC laptop worked with not problems. I thought it might be some sort of HDMI handshake issue. The thing is it would work for a moment when plugging it in or switching the resolution/framerate but then wold turn to black and have static in the feed sometimes. I'll try to replicate your solution to see if it will work, but yes, this definitely is not ideal. I wonder if a different monitor with HDMI passthrough would have a similar issue. I do recall Gerald undone having problems with getting the Ninja V HDMI to pass through to the ATEM mini well, but I might be wrong and it was the ATOMOS Shogun 7 instead.
      (Edit) I tried doing your fix but it didn't work, it showed static on the ATEM output in OBS. I did a test, chaining the HDMI Intput 1 output to another HDMI input on the Seetec monitor to see if there was anything coming through in the output, but it was black meaning the problem is with the monitor not knowing how to pass forward the Mac computer signal.., I tried the same thing with a camera output and it worked no problem.

    • @alanmckean
      @alanmckean 4 года назад +1

      @@carlseilerSorry to hear it. Yeah, I can't get it to work since the other day. I even tried my 2014 Mac with a built-in HDMI port. No go. It also looks like there is no way to install a firmware update (no USB port). I should have spent the extra money for the ATEM Mini Pro instead of the Mini and this monitor. The problem is, I live in Mexico and paid about 30% more in duty that I won't get back if I return the monitor to B&H. I plan to return it, anyway. It's unworkable if you want to display anything from the Mac or iPad.

    • @Axmaxify
      @Axmaxify 4 года назад +3

      The issue is different. It is a problem with the 156 monitor not being able to pass through the HDCP signal coming from the mac. Accordingly, the picture is shown by the monitor but does not get into the Atem Mini. I currently try to use a HDMI splitter with 2 outputs for the Mac signal. One will get into the 156, the other directly into the Atem Mini.
      Update: I now received the GuangDa HDMI-Splitter 1 in 2 Out, 4K HDMI-Splitter from Amazon (around 10 EUR) and connected it as described: it works just great and as expected! Thus, for each relevant source aligned with HDCP signal it only costs about 10 EUR to solve. Still convinced by the monitor price/value. And thanks Aaron for your great review and for showing us this monitor in connection with the Atem Mini. Pls. go ahead ;-)

    • @carlseiler
      @carlseiler 4 года назад +1

      @@Axmaxify I also used a HDMI Splitter and it solved the problem. Another problem I found was that the signals coming out of the monitor seemed have more contrast. Could be a 16-235 vs 0-255 color thing or something else, but all the sources passing thought the monitor had more contrast than when plugging them straight into the ATEM.

    Thanks, @aaron, I've had folks talked about the Seetec as a great way to pair the MINI to minimize buyers' remorse when the ATM Mini Pro and the Pro ISO came out. My question is a bit of a workflow redundancy question? If you pair the setup with the vMixPro, the bummer thing is it still views the Atem as a single source via a Type C. This may be a pipe dream but is there any plans that any of the MINI line can be view as a multiview in another livestream software so you have the full benefit of seeing 4 inputs than only a sole input via the Type C. THAT would be amazing!!!!

    I'll never use more than three cameras so I feel like a mini PC's HDMI output could go to one of the four inputs of this monitor. I'm interested in ditching the laptop for a mini PC with an external monitor. Doing so would facilitate building the Mini Pro and everything else into a Pelican case to use as an integrated system in a box for location streaming (kind of like a supercharged YoloBox). If you're using the HDMI output of the Pro/ISO for your multiview then the only thing you can record is the USB output or streaming output, both of which are compressed into h264, which will lose some detail in the image. So the idea is by using this monitor as the multiview, that frees up the HDMI output to record into something that compresses less than the h264 encoder in the ATEM Mini

    If your cameras are not changing resolution, could you use EDID dongles on each input of the monitor to avoid the renegotiation of the resolution when you switch modes? That might significantly speed up switching.

    • @aaronpk
      @aaronpk  4 года назад

      I can give it a try but I think that works the other direction. The EDID dongles tell the camera to lock to a specific mode rather than tell the monitor what to expect.

    • @bobjordan8717
      @bobjordan8717 4 года назад

      @@aaronpk That's what I was thinking. For the delay to happen, the monitor may let the camera think it no longer has a display when it switches away. The dongle will make the camera think there is a display still there so when the monitor switches back, the camera is already sending a signal. Worth a try and might lessen or eliminate what looks like the only downside. If you have a contact, maybe suggest a network port on the next version and streamdeck compatibility. :-)

      Nope! The pass-through HDMI stay on the whole time, it's just the monitor itself that takes a couple seconds to reset the signals.

    @Aaronpk, Does the monitor supports the HDMI Out of the ATEM Mini (connect HDMI Out ATEM Mini to input to monitor)??

    Aaron any idea if can be possible to connect a laptop in one of the HDMI port e show videos from it with audio ? I have connected an extra laptop on HDMI #2 for exemple and it shows the video but no audio. Am I doing something wrong ? Thank you

    • @aaronpk

      yeah for sure! You need to set your audio output on your computer to send through the HDMI connection. On a mac you can click the sound icon in the top menu bar to choose the output device

      It worked, wonderful, thank you very much Aaaron. I just need go back couple seconds before the end of the video and change the mic set up on ZOOM otherwise it keeps the audio from the Laptop since iam using an external mic not connected to the Atem mini, maybe I need an external mic connected to the mini and choose the AFV when doing the cut. I appreciate your help. Your videos are very educational, thank you again.

    Does this monitor work with Atem mini, or only works with Atem mini pro? Thanks for your video.

      It'll work with any HDMI sources really, but it's perfect for the ATEM Mini since the original one doesn't have multiview itself!

      I think so... maybe for 200... but for that price, it's better buy the Atem mini PRO plus a external monitor.

      @@PeakingTomatoes yes, for 100€ you can buy, splitters, multiviewer and cables...

    ATEM Mini and the ATEM156 is too expensive and limited to what is does. Just the ATEM Mini alone you can buy two laptops that is good enough to stream with 8 cameras with a multi-view of 48 cameras/animations, graphcis, etc in OBS. And you can stream in 4k with clean crispy quality at any rate and it is free. The video compression quality of the ATEM is not that great and you are limited. But, if you are looking for some super limited with ok video quality and don't care about the high price for something that is super out dated today, the ATEM mini and ATEM156 could be fine for you. RUclips today prioritize 4k because more and more people are watching in a TV. Why do you want to limited yourself with these limited expensive devices when there is better choices outthere?
