The Duke is the show. You just can’t introduce Black Royalty who is also steamy, moody and gorgeous and then expect the fans to be alright with his departure. He brought the fire that fans totally engaged in. He’s a man of the world and deserved his own spin-off. Upcoming seasons will never hold a candle to the hot romance he brought to the screen. Rege certainly has something special and we viewers want more.
I watched the second season now and kept waiting for the Duke and got always angrier.... Only at the end of the second part I started accepting the truth that he will not be around.... But then I started enjoying the actual season 2 also. Still hoping he will come back because he is truly missed
I can deal with the story of Duke being finished, however I'd be upset if they killed him off.. Yes I understand Page being a star, or hot commodity, but his status will calm down and he can return back to the show for a cameo.
Simon and Daphne's story is not over......they have 5 children (three girls and two boys) according to the family tree and epilogue. There should be a spinoff to focus on their marriage and parenting.

In response to Rosanne’s comments on the believability of the intimate scenes depicted between Re’ge’ and Phoebe’s characters, I believe the scenes to be appropriate. Daphne is described as a “Gently raised young lady, of high character, quick wit, warm and friendly, having flourished in an environment of a wonderful family vs Simon’s pain ridden parent less upbringing. Simon and Daphne’s relationship developed over time based upon friendship leading to trust which eventually gave way to a deeper love. That strong commitment truly warmed my heart. More graphic or lengthier scenes of intimacy could possibly diminish what I enjoyed most: The the emotional connection between our two lovers. To reduce this beautiful story to simply longer or more explicit physical interaction would, for me, diminish the class and dignity of a beautifully scripted and acted love story to little more than an earlier Lady Chatterly appeal. Let’s not forget the beauty of Simon’s monologue to Queen Charlotte ( A love built on Friendship) and Daphne’s touching, final monologue after confessing to Simon her finding and reading Simon’s letters to his father. (Love is a Choice). So very touching as to bring tears to the eyes of any person who has or needs to experience a deeper love and devotion. “Love conquers all” “Lady Danbury” Shout-out to Kris Bowers, Duomo, and The Vitamin String Quartet. I think it’s a mistake to write him out. The popularity of the show is him, they always are changing the way they portray the books in other shows. I enjoy the show. However I love the chemistry between him and her, it won’t be the same, without the dynamics with him in the show.
Please do not just let the Duke disappear. He was so touched by their child I believe he wants to be better than his father was so he has to come back for something. He even told Anthony that he Anthony did not know the meaning of family. The Duke has learned from Daphne and his friend Will. Allow him to set a good example for Anthony. He and Daphne can do that together even if he has to be out of town for a SHORT time and come back to be with Daphne and his son.THat is important!
It doesn't matter if Rege comes back, Simon doesn't appear again anyway. Daphne and the children do. Readers know Simon's still alive because the first isn't a boy. The last is born in 1834, 20 yrs after the first. It'd be a mockery of the whole series to leave out that much storyline.

As the world has fallen in love with the Duke so have I....and typically I don’t binge watch anything, but nearly everyday I watch the whole first Season. I, like the diva Dionne Warwick’s was I incensed to learn that the Duke of Hastings would not appear at all in Season Two. I am praying that he is still spoken of lovingly by his wife, the Duchess and that he learns to be the father, he unfortunately, never had. I hope his absence is explained away that he is overseas attending to some educational project that will enable him to increase the production of livestock and produce of his tenant farmers thereby enriching their lives and making the Hastings Empire even more renowned and favored by the Monarchy under King George and Queen Charlotte. It would be an all around WIN to have the Duke make cameo appearances in Seasons 3 and 4 as a devoted husband and father to his growing brood of 5 children. It would be also wonderful to see how well he lives up to the favor of Lady Dansbury and Vicountess Dowager, Bridgerton, who has always favored the Duke for her Daphne and welcomed him into her family. I also think the Duke might also play some role in articulating the need to end slavery as a foreign ambassador to the West Indies and/or the United States.
Without the Duke " Bridgertone" Is a poor thing. He and Daphne are the Key of the success all over the world. We love them. Don 't take away their story ,if You want to continue on Netflix.
After giving it some thought, I do think it would be important for Rege-Jean Page to be part of the family into the future at least now and then in order to preserve the integrity of the first season story and the book upon which it is based - the idea of him dying or worse, losing his loyalty and love for Daphne and his son after all the transformation in Series 1 (and the book I gather) totally ruins and undercuts and negates Series 1 and his character. I hope both the producer and the actor reconsider the importance of affirming all that happened and the character of the Duke in series 1.
Everything about Bridgerton is Shondaland. At least she took her production team to England to get some truly talented acting and interesting scenery, but the towns looked like facades, the streets were so clean you could eat off them, and the food was 21st century gourmet. I loved the costumes, the music, the acting, and the countryside. Pure fiction brought to the screen in a delightful way.
Finished reading the book. It would be stupid to kill the duke he and daphne have 3 daughters still to go plus even if he leaves for now he should come back for later seasons ESPECIALLY because of the 2nd epilogue for the duke and daphne
In the books he and Daphne have a lot of children and the last when she is in her late thirties, so he is alive. The series is writing it's own storyplot and adding characters, so we never know. But it would be stupid. He appears in some crucial scenes in other books.

Bridget ton is like a warm blanket when your stressed and need a pick me up this is the one to watch. It has great actors including Rege-Jean and Phoebe love drama excitement and a happy ending what more do we want x
I find the Duke and Daphne to be the most interesting storyline, and while I may continue to watch Bridgerton with a mostly absent Rege, I will not watch it if the Duke is killed off, leaves Daphne, or something similar happens. Bridgerton actors were supposedly required to commit to multiple seasons. There is no good reason why Rege as the Duke cannot appear briefly in a few Season Two episodes. They could have already filmed them. I'm disgusted with shows that refuse to take the wishes of the audience into consideration, after we have made a commitment of many hours of our free time to watch. Beware, we will mutiny if you play fast and loose with us.

Do not kill the duke! I have no idea of what happens in the book series with him, but I would love at least to catch a glimpse of him trying to teach his son to read, to ride a horse and giving him the fatherly affection he never was given when he was little.
Once the Duke got Daphne, there really isn't a part for him especially if the other seasons are to focus on the other Bridgerton siblings. I think he will pop in for an occasional, "Hello." I think everything else is pure speculation until season 2 airs.
I agree with Nici M we the fans would love to see Rege make an appearance I really think there is more to this story of why he's not returning he's very tight lipped about his life and I think he's not going to tell the real reason for his decision not only was he offered more money for season 2 I also read he was offered to name his own price money is money and it's clear to me something else is the reason behind this mess. I read his part in gray man is finished dungeons and dragons haven't begun .I would love to see him change his mind and make an appearance how can their story be over and they just had a baby. I heard Dungeons and Dragons was supposed to start in August, but they moved it up & it is starting right now. He’s already in North Ireland for it. Just based on interviews from he himself about what to expect in s2, I think he had every intention of coming back. But the last minute schedule change for D&D filming got in the way. Regé has said he’s always up for Bridgerton, so I think it was a matter of “Hey guys, my schedule’s changed, can you accommodate me?” And Shondaland couldn’t work around it. Praying and hoping that they’ll find time so he can make a cameo though as a special thank you to the fans. Given how long it takes from filming to the actual release of a season, I think it can be done. And I believe Regé would be down for that.
The Duke only makes token appearances in the follow up books so his non appearance would be easily explained, after all he has estates etc to tend to and each story concentrates on the siblings with their partners only popping up now and then
Agreed. His story ended in season 1. There's not much more they can do. I think it's exciting to have new characters be the centre of attention in different seasons. I'm so excited to see Kate and Anthony's story
Awww, at first I was sad to hear he wasn’t going to be in the second season. However, I have to agree with his decision not to do it, because I don’t want him to get typecast as just “The Duke”. When clearly from all his previous roles to his hosting of SNL. He’s very talented and has a lot to offer and this is his acting career. True fans of him and not just The Duke will follow him. I look forward to his new roles in The Gray Man and Dungeons and Dragons. Hopefully, he can return in a later season or a spin-off of The Duke and Daphne’s life ☺️

I watched Bridgerton and Outlander. Sam is a good actor and the show is good too. But for comparison, i dont feel any desire watching Outlander more than once. I lose count for Bridgerton. It's simply as that.

I love Regé-Jean Page playing the Duke of Hastings. But he is not Bridgerton. He married one. Read all eight books. Julia Quinn does a great job of developing all the siblings and their loves and friends. That said, as RJP’s career settles down, he’ll be coaxed into some short scenes in coming seasons. His mention is very brief in the ensuing novels. And I would love him as the next James Bond❣️

Shonda has re-written some parts from the books, I sincerely hope they don't kill him off but rather say something along the lines of moved away, I know Daphney goes on to have many kids from the books , plus maybe the Pall mall game.
The Pall Mall game is definitely going to be in season 2. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping we get to see Simon appear in that scene. It makes sense to have him doing his aristocratic duties off screen and we're told what's going on via Daphne, and then we see him in huge Bridgerton family gatherings.

In the book he has one or two appearances. He works a lot on his country home Clyden and seems to have other farms to attend. He plays a game with the family. Mainly referenced. Daphne is pregnant. He will be referred to as being there, playing the game Pall Mall with the family and you see him in the distance. There is also a scene where Daphne references him and he responds with..... I heard that! .....He can still appear but you don’t his face. He really doesn’t have a big part in any of the other books. Just like how each Bridgeton siblings story is a book by itself and they are only referenced in the other books. The books are great people don’t shut down your support for the series just because Rege / Simon is not the main character. It is a fairytale . Not real life. Look how many actors have played Superman? Same goes for Black Panther. Some one else can play that role. Not to mention James Bond. Everyone has a favorite Bond actor. Some good some not so good. Think on those lines and wish Rege Jean Page well. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🌹He will always be our Duke like how Sean Connery will always be our Bond , but we move on and watch the other actors cast in the role. Some we like some we don’t. 🙏🏼
Season 1 of Bridgerton didn't follow the book - The Duke and I by Julia Quinn. In the book, they had a daughter, in fact three daughters before having their first son. In the book Simon and Daphne had Amelia, Belinda, Caroline then David and Edward. Whatever happens, I will continue watching it as it's an excellent adaptation. I'm actually looking forward to learning more about Anthony and the rest of the Bridgertons.

In interviews she said she was shocked by the worldwide uproar that he was leaving. I think she didnt realize what Reges magnificent portrayal of the Duke and the reaction of the worldwide love for the show- beyond ALL expectations.

She had many children so they should pick up where they had the son.. meaning they had the girls and previous years had the son after..it left to interpretation they didn't say how many years went by before the son was born in the Netflix series

My sentiments exactly!
Each book focuses on a different couple. Hastings doesn’t really comeback for more than a scene or two
As the world has fallen in love with the Duke so have I....and typically I don’t binge watch anything, but nearly everyday I watch the whole first Season. I, like the diva Dionne Warwick’s was I incensed to learn that the Duke of Hastings would not appear at all in Season Two. I am praying that he is still spoken of lovingly by his wife, the Duchess and that he learns to be the father, he unfortunately, never had. I hope his absence is explained away that he is overseas attending to some educational project that will enable him to increase the production of livestock and produce of his tenant farmers thereby enriching their lives and making the Hastings Empire even more renowned and favored by the Monarchy under King George and Queen Charlotte. It would be an all around WIN to have the Duke make cameo appearances in Seasons 3 and 4 as a devoted husband and father to his growing brood of 5 children. It would be also wonderful to see how well he lives up to the favor of Lady Dansbury and Vicountess Dowager, Bridgerton, who has always favored the Duke for her Daphne and welcomed him into her family.
I also think the Duke might also play some role in articulating the need to end slavery as a foreign ambassador to the West Indies and/or the United States.
That would be Awesome!
Without the Duke " Bridgertone" Is a poor thing. He and Daphne are the Key of the success all over the world. We love them. Don 't take away their story ,if You want to continue on Netflix.
Don't kill off the Duke!!! Hopefully he'll return at a later date. I don't know if I can watch a season without him.

After giving it some thought, I do think it would be important for Rege-Jean Page to be part of the family into the future at least now and then in order to preserve the integrity of the first season story and the book upon which it is based - the idea of him dying or worse, losing his loyalty and love for Daphne and his son after all the transformation in Series 1 (and the book I gather) totally ruins and undercuts and negates Series 1 and his character. I hope both the producer and the actor reconsider the importance of affirming all that happened and the character of the Duke in series 1.
I agree with you. I think he should stay in it for longer time. Since that role gives him a fame.

Everything about Bridgerton is Shondaland. At least she took her production team to England to get some truly talented acting and interesting scenery, but the towns looked like facades, the streets were so clean you could eat off them, and the food was 21st century gourmet. I loved the costumes, the music, the acting, and the countryside. Pure fiction brought to the screen in a delightful way.

But the Duke isn't really a part of the other books. It's fitting for the focus to shift.

Finished reading the book. It would be stupid to kill the duke he and daphne have 3 daughters still to go plus even if he leaves for now he should come back for later seasons ESPECIALLY because of the 2nd epilogue for the duke and daphne
In the books he and Daphne have a lot of children and the last when she is in her late thirties, so he is alive.
The series is writing it's own storyplot and adding characters, so we never know. But it would be stupid. He appears in some crucial scenes in other books.

you will be surprised . Anthony and Kate are fire!! as a person who read all of the books except the last one . Duke and Duchess are not even my favourite couple . The Oldest Bridgerton (Anthony) Couple is the best in my opinion . Followed by his second brother (Benedict) and Francesca his third sister
Having read all the books "The Duke and I " this is the one which involves The Duke fully , apart from book 9 Simon is barely mentioned ,but he lives on for many years !

Bridget ton is like a warm blanket when your stressed and need a pick me up this is the one to watch. It has great actors including Rege-Jean and Phoebe love drama excitement and a happy ending what more do we want x
I find the Duke and Daphne to be the most interesting storyline, and while I may continue to watch Bridgerton with a mostly absent Rege, I will not watch it if the Duke is killed off, leaves Daphne, or something similar happens. Bridgerton actors were supposedly required to commit to multiple seasons. There is no good reason why Rege as the Duke cannot appear briefly in a few Season Two episodes. They could have already filmed them. I'm disgusted with shows that refuse to take the wishes of the audience into consideration, after we have made a commitment of many hours of our free time to watch. Beware, we will mutiny if you play fast and loose with us.
You might mutiny, but I wouldn't. I wish they'd stayed closer to the book storyline.

Obviously we can’t blame him for moving on to other opportunities because his part would have been very small next season. I hope they don’t kill him off, hopefully he will make a few cameos. If not, I would rather see them recast later on, then kill him off.

Do not kill the duke! I have no idea of what happens in the book series with him, but I would love at least to catch a glimpse of him trying to teach his son to read, to ride a horse and giving him the fatherly affection he never was given when he was little.
With Their story finished, Their characters are free to move on. maybe a cameo in the future.

Once the Duke got Daphne, there really isn't a part for him especially if the other seasons are to focus on the other Bridgerton siblings. I think he will pop in for an occasional, "Hello." I think everything else is pure speculation until season 2 airs.

I agree with Nici M we the fans would love to see Rege make an appearance I really think there is more to this story of why he's not returning he's very tight lipped about his life and I think he's not going to tell the real reason for his decision not only was he offered more money for season 2 I also read he was offered to name his own price money is money and it's clear to me something else is the reason behind this mess. I read his part in gray man is finished dungeons and dragons haven't begun .I would love to see him change his mind and make an appearance how can their story be over and they just had a baby. Also Regae had said in an interview they had a lot of growing to do and they would be doing that together. Something changed his mind about that and we may never know what it really is
It probably has a lot to do with his present girlfriend who is probably (and understandably so) not a great fan of The Duke and "Poebe" together.
I heard Dungeons and Dragons was supposed to start in August, but they moved it up & it is starting right now. He’s already in North Ireland for it. Just based on interviews from he himself about what to expect in s2, I think he had every intention of coming back. But the last minute schedule change for D&D filming got in the way. Regé has said he’s always up for Bridgerton, so I think it was a matter of “Hey guys, my schedule’s changed, can you accommodate me?” And Shondaland couldn’t work around it. Praying and hoping that they’ll find time so he can make a cameo though as a special thank you to the fans. Given how long it takes from filming to the actual release of a season, I think it can be done. And I believe Regé would be down for that.

The Duke only makes token appearances in the follow up books so his non appearance would be easily explained, after all he has estates etc to tend to and each story concentrates on the siblings with their partners only popping up now and then
Agreed. His story ended in season 1. There's not much more they can do. I think it's exciting to have new characters be the centre of attention in different seasons. I'm so excited to see Kate and Anthony's story
Awww, at first I was sad to hear he wasn’t going to be in the second season. However, I have to agree with his decision not to do it, because I don’t want him to get typecast as just “The Duke”. When clearly from all his previous roles to his hosting of SNL. He’s very talented and has a lot to offer and this is his acting career. True fans of him and not just The Duke will follow him. I look forward to his new roles in The Gray Man and Dungeons and Dragons. Hopefully, he can return in a later season or a spin-off of The Duke and Daphne’s life ☺️

Sad to say I will not be watching Season 2. None of the actors or other characters really interested me very much. I only enjoyed the Duke and Daphne in all of "B" town.

I watched Bridgerton and Outlander. Sam is a good actor and the show is good too. But for comparison, i dont feel any desire watching Outlander more than once. I lose count for Bridgerton. It's simply as that.

if the characters of the other books are as good as the writer describes them than all season will be as good as the first one but if stories and characters are changed it would be a big disappointment to all
I'm on book four and so far the Duke has only appeared for one scene in book 2, it's not a big surprise and their story wrapped up with a HEA

He isn't in this series. I read the books. There are 8 books. This is Antony's love story. The Duke was not in this story.

I love Regé-Jean Page playing the Duke of Hastings. But he is not Bridgerton. He married one. Read all eight books. Julia Quinn does a great job of developing all the siblings and their loves and friends. That said, as RJP’s career settles down, he’ll be coaxed into some short scenes in coming seasons. His mention is very brief in the ensuing novels.
And I would love him as the next James Bond❣️
Losing the duke is terrible. But non-readers saying they won't watch it cause he was the only reason they did are gonna miss out. How do ik? Cause I wasn't a reader. I bought the books after watching the show and man the things we are in for
Shonda has re-written some parts from the books, I sincerely hope they don't kill him off but rather say something along the lines of moved away, I know Daphney goes on to have many kids from the books , plus maybe the Pall mall game.

The Pall Mall game is definitely going to be in season 2. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping we get to see Simon appear in that scene. It makes sense to have him doing his aristocratic duties off screen and we're told what's going on via Daphne, and then we see him in huge Bridgerton family gatherings.
I would be INSANELY disappointed, if he's not attending Anthonys wedding - his brother-in-law AND best friend!!!

I HOTE that the "excuse" for his absence is that he is at Clyvedon - tending to the farmers - and the rest of the village! 🐷🐷🐷

In the book he has one or two appearances. He works a lot on his country home Clyden and seems to have other farms to attend. He plays a game with the family. Mainly referenced. Daphne is pregnant. He will be referred to as being there, playing the game Pall Mall with the family and you see him in the distance. There is also a scene where Daphne references him and he responds with..... I heard that! .....He can still appear but you don’t his face. He really doesn’t have a big part in any of the other books. Just like how each Bridgeton siblings story is a book by itself and they are only referenced in the other books. The books are great people don’t shut down your support for the series just because Rege / Simon is not the main character. It is a fairytale . Not real life. Look how many actors have played Superman? Same goes for Black Panther. Some one else can play that role. Not to mention James Bond. Everyone has a favorite Bond actor. Some good some not so good. Think on those lines and wish Rege Jean Page well. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🌹He will always be our Duke like how Sean Connery will always be our Bond , but we move on and watch the other actors cast in the role. Some we like some we don’t. 🙏🏼

Season 1 of Bridgerton didn't follow the book - The Duke and I by Julia Quinn. In the book, they had a daughter, in fact three daughters before having their first son. In the book Simon and Daphne had Amelia, Belinda, Caroline then David and Edward. Whatever happens, I will continue watching it as it's an excellent adaptation. I'm actually looking forward to learning more about Anthony and the rest of the Bridgertons.

In interviews she said she was shocked by the worldwide uproar that he was leaving. I think she didnt realize what Reges magnificent portrayal of the Duke and the reaction of the worldwide love for the show- beyond ALL expectations.

I agree I love the show because of his character killing it I don't see myself hooked on it in future it's always a turn off when the character the viewers look on to suddenly makes an exit

She had many children so they should pick up where they had the son.. meaning they had the girls and previous years had the son after..it left to interpretation they didn't say how many years went by before the son was born in the Netflix series
They said his name should start with an A to follow the tradition though. That means he’s their first child
@@mecabgn5420 They said we should follow the family tradition / there sons were david & Edward so the child could have been born some years later. Daphnes had children in the book up until her forties..It is just trying to keep the character in the Netflix version

He wants to "contribute his bit and stick the landing." That is the goal with his projects. Once again he read the novels and understood that his and Daphne's role in Bridgerton was only for season 1. I am tired of reading negative comments about RJP about the stupidest stuff. He was not contracted to be in season 2. He was offered cameo appearances after the fan's outrage over him not coming back. He didn't accept because he has other obligations. Simple as that.

Why these gossip channels lies so much that navy blue dress daphne is wearing is the same dress from season one when she went hose back riding with Anthony, Killing off the Duke will go waaaay beyond the books and trust me they will loose lost of viewer ship the best thing they could of done is season two is send Daphne on a world Trip with the Duke and baby that would make more sense and look more authentic if they are both out of the picture on a world Trip seeing that's what simon did before and was planning to do before he had to marry Daphne.
