ABBAYE DU THORONET ✝️ Var - Provence - France [4K]

The Abbey of Thoronet was founded in the twelfth century in Provence, for a community of only twenty monks, not counting the lay brothers, at a time when it was part of the Holy Roman Empire under the authority of Frederick I Barbarossa (1152-1190). The empire then stretched from Bohemia to the Rhone. Le Thoronet was the first Cistercian presence in this region.
