Mainstream stars still endorse these products, guys. Not everyone but many of them. These creams have now rebranded themselves into lightening, anti-tanning and glowing skin creams. Also only light complexioned women get to work with the stars in big budget movies. Indian actresses who work in Hollywood accentuate their tan but the same actresses when working in Bollywood suddenly become lighter even though not outright fair. I've noticed this. My mother unfortunately had to go through the same when she was younger hence she grew up with a severe complex on colour of her skin that it even effected her work place relations but thank goodness she raised to me love my melanin.

When I was an infant, one of my relatives laughed at my parents after seeing me for the first time because of my skin colour as my dad and mom both had white skin and I was born dark skin. My mom got hurt because of that relatives's laughter. This is the story my mom told me. After that till now, I get bullied by people because of my colour. One of my colleagues with whom I used to work with called me Chimpanzee when we went for our team outing. These all happened in Kerala only (Literate people only on paper or documents) At that day, I didn't feel bad for myself because I'm used to it. Nowadays, I don't feel bad for getting bullied because I love my dark skin and I love my life very much. I don't feel in making others aware that dark skin is good because these people are illiterate by my mind and heart. (as someone who has grown up surrounded by colorism in the south asian community and affected by it at points too, definitely not trying to defend fairness creams here) yes srk, along with a majority of popular bollywood actors, have endorsed fairness creams in the past. most that i know of and love now have stopped (including srk), and while of course we should point out how colorist they are and the detrimental impacts they have on the entire community, it's also important to note that the standards for ""fair beauty"" are applied most harshly to these same celebrities. they have also grown up in these environments and told that their skin is either beautiful bc it's fair, or that their complexion is ugly bc it isn't and must be changed. it's severely disappointing to see celebrities that we love and admire promote such products, but i think most people forget that these actors and actresses, especially bc they're in the public eye and constantly up for judgement, are hit hardest by colorist prejudices. i'm happy that a good portion of them now have recognized a while ago how insidious colorism and its far-reaching effects are, and have stopped endorsing such fairness creams. we still have a long way to go.
Not just bollywood every other movie industry does that even mostly south industry too show fair skinned actresses in commercial movies because of the mentality of the people as they think "more you are fair more you look beautiful".

Fair skin in India comes from upper caste prejudices. Even though there are dark skin upper castes as well.
@GOLD WOLF there are.. They are called you don't look like a dalit. Specially when they can talk in English
Honestly the fact people all the time drag Priyanka for promoting fairness cream but they literally forget about SRK. Speaks a lot about our society.
Guys please react to bodhidharma.he is a south Indian prince who travelled to China and taught them martial arts.he is called damo in Chinese and daruma in Japanese. I have been asking for this reactions since many days.😔
Please don't be surprised at the thought of SRK endorsing fairness creams. He did it till just a few years ago so it wasn't a thing that he did in early 2000s and then realised it's wrong! It's true. Even Priyanka Chopra has endorsed a lot of these products for so long.
Its not because he realised it as wrong... Its because his reputation was getting affected and also because his daughter is dark.
Don't try to project SRK as saint by twisting the facts. Bollywood knows just 1 thing and its 💰... Nothing else matters.
@@pavanmanglore4495 what makes you think I'm trying to protect him? Probably you didnt read or understand my comment.
Oh god is it a crime to earn money he has said in many interviews that his majority of earnings come from endorsement.
It would help if we stop being stupid to believe the ads
@@anjalichaurasia2271 No it's not a crime. Not everything which isn't a crime is right though. There's no point in arguing in this because this is a very subjective topic. Endorsing racist thoughts and actions for money is not something that's right for me but then it's subjective so let's leave it.
ANJALI CHAURASIA totally agree with you madam. The entire problem boils down to just 1 thing and its us the PUBLIC. Its not the just Bollywood or some celebrities or politicians. Although they are blamed and made as scapegoats, the reason for them doing these unethical and illegal things is because we the people watch it and enjoy it as long as it doesn't affect us!!!
The root cause of all the problems is the WE the public. Nothing changes until each one of us change!
I think this is one of the cases where Mollywood marks a difference, in the casting and production atleast!
Take Dileesh Pothan ( director of Thondimuthalum Driksaakshiyum), he doesn't even allows his artists to have the slightest of makeup on them while shooting!
But what about the others who make up the majority of celebrated filmmakers in Malayalam and what about the Majority of female actresses who are fair skinned 😒
@@varghesemathew2730 They are born fair skinned, not through any facial treatments. And all of them are brilliant actors as well, you can't even find one actress in malayalam who can't act well!
That's the difference between here and up at the north where priority is not given to the talent.
But here its not the case. Fair or not, famous or not, whatever it might be, if he or she has talent, then Mollywood is behind you.
@@aravindanbalachandran4509 I don't think that's the case entirely. Yes Malayalam industry is comparatively better to other Indian industries but you can't say "colourism" doesn't exist here. Still there is this celebrated idea that fair skin is more beautiful. Why do you think a place where the majority of people are not fair skinned have a majority of fair skinned film actors and actresses🤷
@@varghesemathew2730 Oh no I can say for sure that 'colorism' don't exist here. And you're saying majority of our actors are fair! I don't agree with that! Take a count, most of thr actors have a normal intermediate skin color, both male and female!

Saw a fairness cream advert in middle of this video..😭😭😭absolute radiance 🙄
His last name is Pant.. Hence the word and letter play, "the Rant of the Pant"..
Absolutely loved the video and the reactions. A lot of things should be changing right away and this is one of them.
Every Bollywood celeb except kangana and abay deol has endorsed fairness products karrina deepika shahid john akshay aamir salman kareena..everyone..i believe only priyanka and sonam are the ones who actually publicly apologised and promised never to endorse such products ever again
@RO M its endorsing racism if u think that is not offense u r part of the problem..also the fact that government has banned fairnes product advertising is also another indicator
I think Amir never promoted fairness product. He is very smart while doing ads
Good for you Korbin! He's the same guy from EIC with the India-partition video
You have got covered on one of the top digital news channel in india.
I just saw you guys on that channel.
It is good seeing you growing.
God bless.
Hello, Korbin - he converts his name PANT into a title the RANT. It's his show.
Have you guys reacted to "Fluffy goes to India"? That might be fun.
Rick, you hit the nail right on the head. It does have casteist connotations.
Malayalam cinema is the only industry that I'm aware of is not bigoted towards actresses and you get to see all kinds of real and relatable characters because of that.
In India it's not just about colour there are prejudices related to language clothes everything. If u speak hindi u are not part of elite. If u wear saree u are typically bhabhi of Indian village. This is result of blind westernisation which happens in India only. Japan and china are very rigid wrt to their culture
@GOLD WOLF oh dude english is most spoken language in South india. North indians mostly speak their language
@GOLD WOLF china is becoming no 1 in GDP in country along with modern technilogy. They don't require English to make their country modern. It's just misconception.
@GOLD WOLF no iam talking about blantant westernisation. Speaking English as first language wearing western clothes blindly following their western logic like why censor in content why not nudity etc etc. Terming western ideas as progressive and Indian culture as regressive as seen nowadays
@GOLD WOLF yes dude that's true north indians consider themselves as biggest liberal mocking their own religion while south Indian films like bahubali still shows glorious indian past. Most film directors in bollywood are atheist like karan johar anurag kashyap.
Watch Vir Das's Bollywood and drugs. It's painfully hilarious.
My parents discriminated on my skin colour because my brother was whiter than me when I was a child.
You can very much get discriminated in your own family especially if you have siblings that are lighter than you in the reverse side if you are lighter than your siblings you are more likely to be treated better .This means you will a lot of preferrence that is you more likely to get better nutrition/food or chances at better education and opportunities parents usually prefer to "show off" their light skinned child over the darker I've seen some parents deliberately not bring their darker skinned child to social events because they think it's more prestigious to show a family of light skinned people.
My mother unfortunately had to go through the same when she was younger hence she grew up with a severe complex on colour of her skin that it even effected her work place relations but thank goodness she raised to me love my melanin.
i saw the wedding one , i am punjabi and abt the questions u asked in the end...the answer is kind of complicated..
i loved this one though
Yes! SRK did...for a long time! Stopped it only recently. He basically didn't care for a long time. Stopped following him since then. Kangana and Sushant Singh Rajput were the only ones I can remember who stood against it consistently.
Also, I wonder, how are make-up kits like powders, eyelashes, lipsticks any different? I know of ladies, who are fair but won't step out of their house without makeup. Apparently, it dents their confidence; and makeup makes them feel more confident. I can never understand this!
Sorabh Pant is edgy like Vir Das. They have no filters when it comes to comedy. Thankfully audience is accepting the savage jokes instead of getting offended and file a police complaint, which is indian national sport
SRk still endorses FAIRNESS Cream 'fair & Handsome'
Its now glow and handsome😅
No he does not 🙄🙄🙄
And people still buy it.
my mother constantly tells me im dark and i need to do something about it.. and i'm not even dark. she's just too fair.

The fact that the “glow and lovely “ ad came just before this video started
You guys should watch EIC vs Bollywood

I get bullied by people till now, by the way I'm a 32 yrs old woman. I was born dark skin in Kerala. When I was in school I used to get bullied by the name Chimpanzee. At that time, I felt very bad for myself. I used to work in a MNC before. Their real behaviour shows what's in their blood, which can't be changed, so I don't want to waste my good energy and valuable time.
I believe this is a Netflix Special, The Rant. You might find it. Rant of Pant. Also the guy playing Pakistan was Tanmay Bhat, the founder of AIB. This dude is from EIC, East India Comedy.
Bollywood still very much does it. Fair means beautiful for them. You can imagine the effect it has on commoners when some celebrity endorses them.
He was actually India in their EIC videos about the states of India.
Being fair and talking about rasisam is so cool dude
It doesn't work that way my dude. Not all fair people are same.
being white doesn't make one cool by itself
It might look like fairness creams are not so popular anymore, but they are. We are a huge population and a large percentage of that population is not educated or don't have access to social media or educated and have access to social media and still choose to be racist. There is little awareness in urban cities, but there are very few urban cities.
Why is he after SRK only, I mean there are tons of other prominent celebrities who do the same!!! SALMAN KHAN FOR EG.!!! ITS CALLED BUSSINESS!!! GO AFTER THOSE F ING COMPANIES WHO ARE MAKING SUCH PRODUCTS! I mean if not him, there will be some other big star who will do the same!!!
I find many people fighting against feireness cream and still avoiding getting engaged with dark skinned people in a romantic relationship.
Fun fact: sharukh khan still endorses fairness cream
As he said very few are against fairness creams in Bollywood like tapsee, aamir and few others while rest of them have endorsed fairness creams

Not to blame current one's, but British were the ones who introduced racism in india
Not true. Racism towards dark-skinned people is an associated effect of casteism.
@@aman26452 not at all, before British came, a lot of people were dark skinned in all castes, it was the British that taught us that white is better
@@aman26452 well guess what British brought casteism in india
@@anjalichaurasia2271 No they didn't. Casteism has been around since the beginning of Hinduism. The 4 Varnas are mentioned in the very first Veda, the a Rig Veda.

Skin colour is not really connected with caste and religion, though, Rick
Remember Bajrangi Bhaijan, where Bajrangi tries to identity the caste of Munni by the colour of her skin? You can try to be ignorant but yes it is related with caste and religion.
@@abhishekrajguru2111 well, yes, some people do associate fair skin with Muslims(maybe due to the fact that many Pakistanis are fair??!!)but that isn't so common. And another fact, there are many Bengali brahmins who are darker than some of the lower caste people(savarna baniks). So caste hierarchy is clearly not based on skin colour.
@@sayansingha6370 Yes, regional topography does play a part in skin colour. You've mentioned a higher cast with dark complexion. Can you name a lower caste with the opposite?
@@abhishekrajguru2111 what do you mean?
Skin colour is definitely connected to caste in India. That's partially where colorism arises from.
Mostly shown tv and movies, rich people are fair and poor are dark. So every one wants to look rich..
Yes SRK does endorse fairness creams.. recently his daughter posted something about being brown and received flak for her dad being the first to endorse the fairness notion
I got an ad for fair and lovely in the mid of your video... youtube algorithms are tone deaf! 🤦🏻♀️
Not just bollywood every other movie industry does that even mostly south industry too show fair skinned actresses in commercial movies because of the mentality of the people as they think "more you are fair more you look beautiful".
Speaking of discrimination by skin color, you guys should check out the new Telugu movie, "Colour Photo".
It's more of an indie film with new comers that were doing short films for a couple of years, and they did really well in making a well rounded film that deals with this issue.

Nothing to do with Religion , if someone has told you that they are absolutely joking it has nothing to do with Caste either . It is one of the inherent policies from British ! Apart from racism, this is also a natural preference. May be for natural cross-breeding reasons. So white people find more attractive a tan, brown like white.
