Assuming this leak is accurate, the new slots on the gear would most likely be for the runes to insert & swap out as desired
Why can’t they stop with the resonance and add a shop with timed double xp tokens, double drops tokens, focus on more cosmetics and variety. Stuff that gets you playing and grinding and that the majority of players can afford
Give 8k resonances wings an additional gem awakening slot.

Bilzzard is out of touch with the majority of players that can’t even afford 2k wings lol I got 1500 res but been playing since the game was out 😭
I feel the developers are making some major poor decisions. Battleground is now full of RNG it doesn't matter if you're a whale or not, so skill is no longer a factor. Then the paragon changes were brutal and made no sense. The tempest is completely broken. It's like they're asking people to just stop playing. Then whales are buying from Susan with no punishment. Just buy plat from Susan express with no penalty, no ban. Not even a slap on the wrist. Blizzard full on allows this now.
The game is heading to failure

@@WhyTry321no it’s not, f2p can now awaken gems at rank 5. Giving you more gem slots, read the patch notes silly goose.
@Regu1arGuy awakening opens up the ability to put other gems inside of your awakened ones for extra resonance bonuses, sure, but this is far from getting "extra gem slots". You don't get the effects from any gem used inside, and you only get 1 point of reso per rank on 1 star, 2 points per rank on a 2 star, and 10 reso per rank on a 5 star.
A new gear slot and thus, a new gem slot, would give you the full effects of any gem in it. 150 reso for a 1 star rank10 vs the 10 reso you get from socketing it in an awakened gem. 300 reso for a 2 star rank10 vs the 20 reso in an awakened gem.
This isn't more gem "slots". Many f2p will never have enough gem power to even bother with more gems inside awakened slots. Even if they do, an extra 10-20 reso here and there won't change much. If you can't get a gem to rank10 to awaken in the current system, you're not gonna have any leftover gems hanging around to put inside your awakened rank5s now either.
@Regu1arGuy I don't even think that's what corbin is talking about. Only players with 8k+ reso get the 16 additional gem slots inside their wings.

This game would have been so much better if Blizz had been a lot less greedy, sucking too much money from too few players... AND instead had been more reasonably priced so that a lot more players would spend and the player base would be more uniform. It would also have been better if you could reasonably grind resonance, which is still not possible. Only way is to sell gems/pets for plat. It's too slow and convoluted. Plus, now we cannot get but the lowest price for gem sales only. It's extremely hard to get over 3k res for the average player.
Why do 90% of players even give a rat's @ss about 8k+ resonance options? We don't, bcz we will never see 8k res, except those killing us in mandated weekly BGs.
The power disconnect between whales and dolphins is far too great. The power divide between F2P/low spend and dolphins is equally too wide. And the void between F2P and whales is ludicrous.
Combined with Blizz' shiddy matchmaking plus OP Tempest, PVP is beyond miserable now. Even most whales I know are hating it. Since they created these huge divides between F2P, dolphins, and whales, they really need to start stratifying PVP EFFECTIVELY so that the game is more enjoyable for everyone.
This power creep (actually it is happening so quickly in DI that to call it power creep is a mischaracterisation - more like power sprint) is why players keep quitting the game. It's hard to enjoy pvp AT ALL when you're constantly whale fodder.
I hope BlizzEase has server mergers all worked out bcz I foresee lots of players dropping. More DPS/Res, shiddy pvp matchmaking and no challenge in PVE is a recipe for frustration for most, boredom for the few. Sigh.
This update isn't about newness to keep things fresh, since it is only available to 8k res. It's about cha-ching only.

Gotta say you stay fairly neutral for a game that's just a pure money grabber. I just finished the main story and then realized that's it... so what now I just grind the same dungeons to try and level up to be shit on by someone who is willing to pay for 1's & 0's?
Basically, Blizzard said hey our top spenders are running out of stuff to buy. Let's just add another few levels to the crap we already have so they can spend more money on the same exact thing. 🎉🎉😂
